A friend of mine purchased a new sp101 last week. It arrived at his FFL with a rusted front sight. He accepted the transfer with the intention of replacing the sight. These pictures were taken after letting the front of the gun marinate in a bath of penetrating oil & clp for 2 days, followed by a scrubbing with a brass bristled brush.

During removal, he discovered the roll pin was also rusted to the point of no return. It made the process a lot more difficult than it should have been.

In the end he had to wrap the front of the gun with a piece of cloth, use a pair of wire cutters to clamp onto the sight and tap the cutters from the rear.

Now he is just waiting for new sights and had to buy a new roll pin which may have to be trimmed to length.

The gun also has some other issues, namely poor accuracy at anything past 5 yards, the hardest cocking hammer I have personally experienced and the yoke seems to grind on the frame when opening the cylinder.

Ruger piss poor QC strikes again.

Every gen 6 Glock I have seen, rather in person or online has a tag with $699 or higher on it. I have always liked Glock, mostly due to their reliability and ease of working on, but cost was also a factor.

Glock math used to be a real thing, not so much anymore. At $700+, a new Glock isn't as appealing for me anymore.

For similar money, I can have a base model of a cz75 or Beretta 92fs or a FN509, Walther PDP, hk vp9, etc.

I still like Glock, I just can't bring myself to pay more than $550 for one, which is still $50 to much.

Picked this earlier. It’s a 36-1 Chiefs Special. It came with the original box & all associated paperwork including the original receipt and purchase form. According to the included paperwork it was purchased new in 1977.

Looks to be in really good shape. No cylinder ring, bore looks in like new condition, crown looks like new, lock up is good with none to minimal endshake.

I feel like it was a good deal at $350? Did I get a decent deal? I dont plan on ever getting rid of it regardless, I am a sucker for revolvers.

Deer hit me on way to work this morning. Any guesses on how much the repair is going to cost ? Insurance isn't going to cover it as I don't have comprehensive, only collision & liability.

Front grill will definitely have to be replaced, drivers side front quarter panel is fubar, some damage to driver door.

The only warning light that came on was the check air flap system then it went away. It is drivable but drivers door won't open but so far.
