Modena end of August with children

Hello! Is it crazy (due to the likelihood of hot temperatures) to travel to Modena at the end of August with two children aged 6 and 1? We will be in Europe for a last minute family event in Hungary and my husband would like to see some family in Modena while we are in Europe. However I hesitate to go to Emilia Romagna with children at the end of August out of fear of the temperatures being too hot. I know weather is unpredictable. To combat the heat of course we would stay in air conditioned accommodation with a pool, be outdoors in morning or evening, etc. We would have a car and it seems like there are many indoor activities to do if too hot outdoors (Ferrari and Lamborghini museums, caseficios, acetaias, prosciuttifios, etc). If a terrible idea please let me know. We could try to meet up with family in another area of Italy nearby but of course this is not ideal.

Crazy to consider Emilia Romagna at end of August?

Hello! Is it crazy (due to the likelihood of hot temperatures) to travel to Bologna at the end of August with two children aged 6 and 1? Itinerary Help Between Budapest and Venice in August

Hi! My family needs to travel to Budapest mid August. While not an idea time due to heat and crowds, we have a family event to attend. My husband would also like to visit his brother near Venice, so are considering flying home from Venice early September. I know it’s a bit random to start in Budapest and end in Venice, and quite the distance in between… but could anyone recommend some itinerary ideas or destinations between? Criteria include comfortable temperatures (not too hot), kid friendly, and activities such as mountain hikes and gondolas, or water destinations at beaches or lakes. Willing to use any form of transportation including car rental, train or flight.

Athens to YYZ June 13

Hi! I’m wondering if anyone who was scheduled on AT from Athens to YYZ June 13 (which was cancelled then rescheduled for June 14) had any response from Air Transat yet if you submitted a claim? I submitted mine 3 weeks ago and have still not heard anything.

What is this cheese

Pic in comments. Can anyone identify what cheese this is based on the rind? It was labelled as parmigiano reggiano but the rind is different than usual and the taste and texture is different than usual. Located in Ontario, Canada if that makes a difference! Thank you

Budapest to Bratislava Trains

Hello, looking at train travel between Budapest and Bratislava on August 17th for my family of 4 (two adults, two small children), hoping to depart mid to late morning. It seems to be that there are options to travel via Slovak Rail or Eurocity. What is the difference? I am having trouble figuring this out, and when I try to book on the Slovak rail website it says there’s no tickets available for the times that work. Is there a significant difference between 1st vs 2nd class on these lines?

Biking with 1 year old?

Thoughts on biking with a 12 month old… is this possible? My thinking is not recommended but I’m curious if others have and what kind of setup you’ve used (bike trailer, baby seat, car seat in trailer, helmet, etc). For context my family would like to do a ride in Europe, it is strictly a cycle path with no vehicles.

Air Transat flight cancelled ATH to YYZ

Hi, can anyone help lead me in the right direction on how to get started or determine if my family is eligible for compensation from Air Transat? Our flight from Athens to Toronto was cancelled today and rebooked to tomorrow. How do we determine if we are eligible for compensation or initiate a claim?

Fast ferry vs slow ferry with children?

Is a slow ferry a better option for families with small children? For context, a 6yo and 1yo and travelling from Naxos to Athens next week. The one flight that is available on that day does not work with our itinerary so is not an option unfortunately. The slow ferry is lengthy, 5+ hours, which is a drawback of course since the timing of the fast is much more enticing.. but I am worried about the potential for seasickness or risk of cancellations due to conditions on the fast ferry. Any thoughts?

Mykonos water - wash baby bottles?

Hello. I am staying at a 5 star hotel in Mykonos and the hotel staff are unsure if I can wash baby bottles using the tap water. Is it safe to do so or should I sterilize after or use bottled water for washing? Thanks!

Rain - Arriving with small kids before checkin

I will be arriving Tuesday AM after an overnight flight with an infant and small child. It looks like heavy rain and thunderstorms are forecasted for the morning and afternoon. Could anyone recommend an activity or location near the Louvre that we could kill some time with luggage before our AirBNB check in?

EES with Infant - Canada to CDG

Hello! I am sure there has been many questions with regards to EES. I know wait times cannot be predicted. I am due to land from Canada to CDG Tuesday at 11:00am. We hold Canadian passports. I am traveling with an infant and 6 year old. Are there dedicated (and maybe faster?) queues for families? I’m starting to feel a bit worried with all the news about lengthy wait times.. it feels stressful since I am traveling with an infant. Any advice is appreciated.

Orly Airport

Hi! I am seeing conflicting info online. My family of 4 (2 adults, child and infant) will be flying from ORY to Greece, flight departs 7:35am with Transavia. How early should we arrive at the airport? We will not be checking any baggage. Are there lines for families with small children through security? Our accommodation is near Chatelet and I see that the first train out to ORY is 5:30 am and takes 25 minutes. This gives 1hr 40 min. Is this generally enough time or should we take a taxi to leave earlier?

Is it normal for a coach to bench a handful of kids and favor other kids at age SEVEN? My child is part of a new team and the coach very overtly states they are there to win and will be giving certain players more ice time. I thought that at this stage it is more about development and having fun? I’ve watched the light dim in my usually positive, eager child who now seems timid and scared to make mistakes.

Flying from YYZ with a baby. On the CATSA website it indicates there is a limit of 350ml for powdered substances in carry on baggage and that baby formula “may” be allowed in larger quantities. I asked CATSA on their social media page and they provided only a generic response to place in checked baggage and would not confirm if it would be confiscated or if formula is exempt in larger quantities in carry on. I will be flying to France and my baby’s formula is not available there so I must bring it from home, but will not be checking any luggage (even if I was I would not want to put it there, what if it got lost?!). 350ml of baby formula seems incredibly insufficient for most baby’s travelling on a long haul flight, especially if you factor in connections, the potential for delays and airport transits etc. Can anyone confirm if they’ve brought a whole can of powder baby formula through customs in Canada/YYZ?
