ASUS launches the first WiFi 8 mesh system!

All of the BT line has received firmware updates in August and even another one today, but BQ16 line hasn’t received any update since May.

What gives?

Sharing this since it took me way longer to figure out than it should have.

Quick context: my neighbor's cool with me tapping into their connection (fully consensual, not some sketchy WiFi mooching situation, they have a different ISP than me), and I use that as a failover WAN for my main setup on my BQ16 Pro. Router pulls internet in via WISP, and I wanted a second unit hanging off it as an AiMesh node so I could hand that connection over via Ethernet to my primary router's second WAN port.

Tried this on a BE58 Go first. Couldn't find the AiMesh option anywhere — not in the app, not in the web GUI. Spent a while thinking it was buried in a menu somewhere before realizing it's just not there. As soon as the router's in Public WiFi Mode (WISP), the AiMesh master option disappears completely. Flip it back to normal Router mode and it's back, but obviously that defeats the point.

Dug around and couldn't find anything on the forums confirming this either way, so I actually dusted off an old AX57 Go I had lying around and set it up the same way — WISP mode, checked for AiMesh. It's right there, no issue. So it's not some universal WISP restriction, it's specific to the BE58 Go on current firmware (freshly updated too, so it's not an old-firmware thing).

My guess is it comes down to the two routers running on different chipsets — AX57 Go being the older Wi-Fi 6 Broadcom platform vs. the newer Wi-Fi 7 MediaTek-based BE58 — and ASUS just hasn't carried this combo over to the newer platform yet.

Contemplated trying Media Bridge mode on the BE58 as a workaround for a bit, but honestly just ended up switching back to the AX57 for this role since it already does exactly what I need without any hassle. The BE58s are still solid units, just not the right fit for this particular use case.

Anyone know if this is a known limitation, or is there a chance ASUS adds AiMesh+WISP support to the BE58 Go down the line?

I recently did an Oura health panel (amazing deal at $75 right now) and have gotten back results for all of my results with the exception of ApoB.

I did my blood draw on Aug 29. Most of the results showed up the next day, and all except ApoB are now visible (at September 4).

Anyone recently did this test and can share their timelines?

Just got my fasting lipid panel back (12-hour fast). I’m a 40-year-old male, 5’11”, 181 lbs (down from 240 lbs over the past year on Mounjaro 15 mg).

Results:

Total Cholesterol: 273 mg/dL
LDL: 202 mg/dL
HDL: 43 mg/dL
Triglycerides: 139 mg/dL
Non-HDL: 229 mg/dL

Other relevant labs:
HbA1c: 5.19%
AST: 18.9 U/L
ALT: 16.3 U/L
Creatinine: 0.99 mg/dL

My physician recommended starting rosuvastatin 20 mg which I’ve already done. I haven’t had ApoB or Lp(a) checked yet, but I’m planning to.

Given that my LDL is still over 200 despite major weight loss and otherwise normal labs, I’m wondering if this points toward a genetic cause like familial hypercholesterolemia.

Has anyone had a similar profile, and how much did your LDL drop on rosuvastatin 20 mg?

Booked on BA2683 IBZ→LGW on 27 June, scheduled 18:55. BA sent a vague early-morning email saying the flight may be delayed due to weather-related ATC restrictions, advising me to arrive for the original departure time. By noon their own website showed a confirmed new departure of 22:32. I was checked in online.

I arrived at IBZ at 19:43 — nearly 3 hours before the new departure. Inbound flight hadn’t even left LGW. BA check-in was completely unmanned. No BA staff anywhere in the airport.

An Iberia agent confirmed BA had closed check-in at the original 18:55 despite the flight departing at 22:32.

Called American Airlines Exec Desk (reward booking), got rebooked 2 days later, miles & taxes refunded — stellar service from AA.

The fallout:
Forfeited non-refundable Hilton Gatwick: $150.93

2 emergency nights in Ibiza (only option available, peak summer Saturday): $816.05

BA’s likely defence is the early morning email. My counter: it said may be delayed with no check-in deadline, their website showed 22:32, I arrived nearly 3 hours before that, and there were no staff present regardless.
AA Executive Platinum / BA Gold here. Filing for £350 UK261 compensation plus full expense reimbursement (~$970+ USD). Also covered by Heymondo Premium travel insurance.

I asked BA agents on checkin 2 days later if it was standard practice to close in this manner, and they said that it’s all up to BA, sometimes they keep the counters open and sometimes they are told to close the flight.

Two questions:
Has anyone successfully claimed against BA where check-in closed early during a delay? Is this standard BA practice?

Has BA successfully used the ATC/adverse weather extraordinary circumstances exemption to dodge UK261 compensation?

I’ve noticed that whenever playing the intermission track Whistlestop Summit into Choco Mountain online VS races, I get pulled to the right of the stage, right before the bridge. It causes me to miss the item boxes, and sometimes even puts you on top of the bridge. Also happens to other friends in the room.

I saw the many reviews on Amazon with a high failure rate, figured they probably resolved these issues by now and decided to purchase directly from Invisalign (they had a good sale & coupon).

Unfortunately stopped working and doesn’t turn on after 1 week of use.

I’ve reached out to Invisalign to see what they say.
