Sporting Gijón's Dani Paul

Came across this winger named Dani Paul who is listed on multiple sites as being Irish. He's 19, playing very well for Sporting Gijon B, and regularly trains Sporting Gijon's main squad.

They reside in La Liga 2 & he made the bench against Real Zaragoza 3 days ago. Signed a new deal until 2028 a few months back.

Looks like a promising player but can't find anything about his family or why these sites are listing him as Irish. Is anyone aware of his background?

Sites say he was born in Gijon but that's about it.

Wrapping my head around the Ireland squad

This squad threw up an awful lot of question marks for me, so here's my attempt to answer a few of them by outlining the status of each player.

- A few of the "not selected" players may be injured, but I haven't been able to confirm if they are. You'd imagine the likes of Vale is carrying a knock.

- Stanbdy list players are just the ones mentioned in the media, im sure the standby list is alot bigger than that.

- The squad could look a bit different by the time they get together, or jet off to Canada, so there may be plans to bring more players in. Heimir did mention Kelleher & Molumby will leave after Qatar.

- Im sure there were players in consideration who aren't listed here at all, I just didn't want to keep listing players forever, making the sheet unviewable.

- Oh & if you didn't hear already, that Parrott rib injury seems to be fine, he's confident he will join the camp as scheduled.

SIPTU statement on Israel fixture

SIPTU members in areas impacted by the scheduled international football match against Israel on 4th October in Dublin have begun a consultation process amid growing safety and moral concerns about the fixture.

“It is clear that the vast majority of SIPTU members, as with the rest of Irish society, are strongly opposed to the playing of these games. Our members are also asking questions in relation to their right to refuse to facilitate, through the provision of aviation, transport, accommodation and broadcasting services, this match going ahead.“

- SIPTU Deputy General Secretary, Greg Ennis

Will the Grenada game be broadcast?

Looking at the TV schedule for RTE 2, RTE News Now, Virgin Media 1,2,3 etc.. and I can't find the Ireland game scheduled. Anyone know how fans can watch it?

I would have thought there's more than enough interest to justify showing it in some capacity.

How is FM27 shaping up?

Stubborn FM24 player here who never paid for FM26, I appreciate the reality that FM26 is still fairly useless for us longtime FMer's, but has there been any news on the development of FM27 & whether the mistakes are being rectified?

“We are thinking that the January camp is the one for League of Ireland players. That’s the time when the squad will be made mostly of LOI players. That will be the next step, to integrate them into the national team, make a platform for these players. That will be next January and there’s already been positive talks with the FAI. We will just need to work with the clubs to find the correct time to go, and find opponents too."

“I’m not saying if we pick a January camp with 23 League of Ireland players that all of them will be in the next [senior] squad. But there will always be one or two players who can shine and that we like and will be in our minds from then on."

“Sometimes doing something different takes time and I accept that. The budget within the association is tight so we need to be careful where we spend. Given the LOI calendar, it [January] makes sense to me. That’s the reason why all the nations with the same calendar are doing it."

“People might disagree with me but this is my belief. I will try push it when I’m here because it gives us one extra camp with new faces. When I managed Iceland and Jamaica, there was always one player who would shine in those environments. From then on, they were in the first teams.”

The 27 year old Centre Back is currently one of only two outfield players to have played every single minute in the EFL Championship this season, that's 46 appearances & doesn't include his FA Cup appearance along with 8 appearances for Ireland

The Ipswich Captain somehow managed to not get a single yellow or red card for club or country across these 55 appearances!

His League stats:

- 4140 minutes played

- 17 Clean sheets

- 1 Goal / 1 Assist

- 15 Chances created

- 84% Passing Accuracy

- 6.3 Clearances per game

- 0 penalties committed

- 69.3% of Duels won

- 402 Defensive contributions

- 182 recoveries

- 0.4 fouls conceeded per game / 0.8 fouls won per game

With 96 Premier League appearances under his belt, it will be great to see him back at the level we all know he's at.

Should get more clarity on who is available after Saturday's EFL fixtures take place, but it's still so hard to predict.

Who will replace Bazunu given so many GKs are club tied? Will Umeh get a call or is he part of Benfica's 1st team? Will Lawal be recovered in time? Who will Heimir try out at left back?

Here's who id pick based on who is currently set to be available:

Goalkeepers: Max O'Leary (West Brom), Josh Keeley (Luton), Killian Cahill (Leyton Orient)

Defenders: Jimmy Dunne (QPR), Josh Key (Swansea), Tayo Adaramola (Sheffield Wed), Joel Bagan (Cardiff), Mark McGuinness (Sheffield Utd), Eiran Cashin (Blackburn), James Abankwah (Watford), Gabriel Otegbayo (Sheffield Wed)

Midfielders: Bosun Lawal (Stoke), Conor Coventry (Charlton), Andrew Moran (Preston), Mark Sykes (Bristol City), Jayson Molumby (West Brom), Jason Knight (Bristol City), Jack Taylor (Ipswich)

Attackers: Adam Idah (Swansea), Harvey Vale (QPR), Millenic Alli (Portsmouth), Tom Cannon (Sheffield Utd), Sinclair Armstrong (Bristol City), Jack Moylan (Lincoln), Kasey McAteer (Ipswich), Sammie Szmodics (Derby), Chiedozie Ogbene (Sheffield Utd)
