When they’re saying folks in NYC are having a great summer, as a birder, I can attest that birds have been very good to me this year, especially the shorebirds. Saw my first Piping Plover Memorial Day and then again the day before my birthday this past week—same beach, different Plover. Felt magical ✨

Found this sweet little guy this morning on Bedford and Metropolitan. He has no collar, and I’m currently trying to find his owner. His microchip didn’t bring up any information.

I currently live in Queens and drive to Long Island (Hicksville/Melville area) for work 3x a week. There are also times that I have to go on-site to jobs in BK.
My current commute is about 40 minutes going there and 50 headed back home. I’ll usually go to the gym out by work and head home around 6PM.
I am planning to move to geeenpoint in september and will be staying at my current job. pay is great for where i am in my career and my co-workers are also amazing, so very happy with the job.
Am I crazy for doing this commute 3x a week (sometimes only 2x based on job site visits)? I can flex my hours so I am able to leave my office at 3:30-3:45PM so I don’t think it’ll be too bad. I’ll also be leaving my apartment at 6-6:15 every morning. Guess I am just looking for some words of encouragement lol!

The salary threads from a few years ago were super interesting, so I figured it’s time for an updated one. With inflation, job hopping, remote work, AI (yuck) and the job market changing so much, I’m curious what people are actually making in NYC these days.
I was at riverbank state park this evening when I thought I saw a red tailed hawk circling in the sky. There have been a lot of red tails up here since covid (one stared me down on my fire escape) so I was excited and watched its movements as it circled down to the water before snatching something up and flying towards me. As I scrambled to record it I realized how huge this bird was, like almost as big as the top half of my body. Never realized there were eagles hanging out in Manhattan.
Edit: if this is not in fact an eagle, please help me identify it.
Hi everyone! 👋🏼 I'm newish to birding. I live in the Midwest and have a feeder and enjoy watching the birds that come enjoy the food. However, I've always wanted to see an owl. I hear them all the time in my neighborhood, but I've never seen one. Tonight I'm traveling to see family near Denver and I'm looking out my hotel window and a large bird flaps right by and it's an OWL! A Barn owl! I'm so freaking happy and excited! It's absolutely stunning. This can't be real. 🦉 💕
Hello Bleachers people I am on the hunt for my Bestie—but was curious of the origins of the T-shirt. I did not get to the pop-up in time to find her this shirt in the photograph and was curious if it was specific to the MSG show, or if it was being offloaded from past merch cycles (they had a mixture of merch including Studio to Stage tour). (Backstory- I really feel like I screwed up as a friend and missed grabbing one of these for my friends from the Pop-Up— got there too late).
EFTM Church was in session at Merriweather Post Pavilion on Friday night. I’ve had the chance to see them 2 previous times (‘24 at MPP, and indoctrinated at MSG in ‘24).
There is something so blatantly electric about the energy that the Band brings to the stage. It was a real treat seeing Rick Antonoff play with them at the end. This show was a real balance of “memory caching” and actually recording bits and parts of the show.
If you’re a repeat attendee, highly recommend putting your phone in your pocket for the songs you already have recorded. This tour is special— coming from someone who was at the Studio to Stage Live at MSG recording (can’t turn it off) , this tour is already consuming a large amount of free rent.
