Should I continue to cut this tiny root stub closer?

This is on a root flair of a saucer magnolia tree. I cut this root maybe 3 months ago, but was wondering if I should cut it closer?

Deep Watering question for new-ish trees.

Hey everyone, looking to validate my new watering plan to fix a previous mistake before the summer heat really hits.

Context:
I have some 1-year-old trees (about 2-to-3-inch trunk diameter) planted on a slope.

I messed up the first year: they were on a drip system getting 1 minute a day. I realized I probably created shallow "pancake" roots and they need deep watering to establish anchor roots.

The New Plan:
I’m switching to deep, slow watering once a week out at the drip line.

My Questions:

  1. Rotation: Do I need to move the hose to all four sides of the tree (North, South, East, West basins) to ensure 360-degree root growth and stability?

  2. Volume: Since timing a "slow trickle" on a hose slider is a guessing game, I want to measure by volume. Is 5 gallons per quadrant (20 gallons total per tree, once a week) the right amount to push roots deep for a 1-year-old tree?

Just got a copyright strike for something. Will my account always be heavily monitored?

I posted something that I believe is fair use but I guess not? I was wondering about the warning about a possible future ban of my account.
