(700 Elo) help with picking civ after playing for around 200h

I want to get into the competitive side of the game, after playing mostly against ai and diplomacy, but reading the list of bonuses and special things of every civ is overwhelming and kinda confusing.

I have some civs that I like, but I fear I want a civ that combines all of them and doesn't exist lol

I don't own any DLC that wasn't given out for free, and I don't have money for them (even on discount)

My top 3 civs (in terms of liking, not games played):

  1. Vietnamese - for paper money

  2. Japanese - for samurai

  3. Goths - for unit spam

What I want/do with other civs:

- good archers and/or infantry,

- I tend to play passively (mostly because I'm not good enough to keep the economy running while I go for a raid) and if I go raiding I tend to keep sending villagers for wood - that's why I like paper money so much

- in terms of siege I mostly use trebs, but i like rams with halbs inside and try to use them whenever I can, so if there's something that will support it it's another plus

- I ignore gunpowder in every civ i play

- I tried going for knights or cav archers and they're both not my thing, so the stable can be ignored completely

I would like to hear propositions for civs to try out and maybe some tactics.

If I missed anything important I'll gladly add it in comments, here's my aoe insight page.

Thanks in advance <3

Finding a punisher meme edit

A couple of months ago I saw a meme from the court scene from daredevil (? I don't know the marvel media) it was a photo from the screenshot, but the description was something like

"what do you want me to say, that it was funnier in my head? It wasn't! I knew it was dogshit and I posted it anyway! I liked it and I'm gonna do it again!"

I've been looking for it for sometime (mainly using Google) and couldn't find it.

Thanks in advance <3

[Found] what's the point of the rules? [40:07]

It's a genuine question. I've looked through the rules because i wanted to make a post and saw that "A video featuring the creator on-camera and talking to the audience" is not a video essay. But by that logic the people who arguably started the genre (Lindsay Ellis, HBomberGuy and Contrapints) do not count. Same with the rules stating that videos over an hour long. Why alienate parts of the community like that?

Second thing is that people don't seem to follow the rules anyway? I scrolled through the sub for like 5 minutes and found:

  1. Person on camera talking to the audience

  2. Video that's over an hour long

  3. Video that's below 5 minutes

  4. Second long video, this time over 2 hours long

  5. Obviously political video

If that's the case, then what's the point of having the rules in the first place?

Once again, I'm asking out of genuine curiosity and to start discussion. I do not mean to start drama or shame the people that made the posts, I'm just confused.

Why RTS games have you (often as a good guy) play as blue and enemies as red?

I noticed it long time ago and cannot stop thinking about it

Help my friend against the algorytm

I'm posting instead of him because he doesn't like advertising himself (all he did on Reddit was posting on hbombeguy weekly thread or something similar) and I promised to help.

It was one of his favourite videos to work on so I would hate to see it go to waste.

Thank you in advance <3

Slow paced shooter for non shooter player.

My fiance wants to try shooters for the first time, the issue is he's not good with 3d spaces or fast paced games (usually, he was fine with metroidvanias like silksnong), he'll also hate chaos.

I'm looking for a good place for him to start. He likes a good story, preferably not something set in real life conflicts, but I'll take everything you got.

Thanks in advance <3

When someone asks me how can i still mistake jump for drift despite beating half of the game and having over 50% achievements

I'm just a silly girl! God forbid girl be a little silly >,,,<

Is Emi basically the Goku of drifting?

I've just beaten part 3 so no spoilers please, but so far:

- both go around picking up fights purely on a basis that the opponent is strong

- both gain allies by defeating them

- after being defeated she goes through a valley of ghosts, which when you think about it is not that far away from when Goku sacrificed himself while fighting Raditz and trained in the underworld

- when she gets enough power her train starts glowing/goes super saiyan

- both scream a lot

- both were raised by grandparents who are dead when the story starts

- as for now I haven't seen evidence that Emi didn't kill her grandma by accident

Let me know if I missed something!

[PC] chill exploration game with collecting creatures (or other things)

My fiance has tasked me with finding a game like in the title.

Perfectly: 2D, collecting weird creatures

In general: they're not good with 3d spaces in games, but as long as they won't have combat they should manage, so if you know about a game that fits, but is 3d then I'll take it. Second huge thing is that they don't like time pressure to the point that even Stardew Valley was super stressful for them.

Also, doesn't need to be creatures specifically. They're biologist, so weird animals and plants will be nice, but other things will be fine as well.

Doesn't need to be long or on steam, so if you have some indie darling on itch, I'll gladly take it

Thanks in advance <3

Help me murder everyone

I've heard in a video recently that you can kill everyone in this game and still be able to beat it, so I want to put it t test.

I've finished New Vegas couple of times, but I never did a challenge run of any kind so I'll need some help.

  1. I want to use as little merchants as possible. I'm thinking about making an exception for vendortron, but I'm not 100% sure about that

  2. When I first had this idea I thought about not doing any quests at all (mostly because I've done probably all of them multiple times), but now that I think about it I'm kinda scared that I'm not gonna level up fast enough, and frankly speaking I'm probably not good enough to pull that off lol so any input from people more experienced will be appreciated

  3. The part I'm struggling with the most: what build should I go for? As mentioned earlier, I'm not super good at the game so I don't think I could just run and gun my way around it (especially in more populated areas), so I thought about sneak and sniper rifles, but I'll take all the tips I can get

Thanks in advance <3

Narsis my beloved

To everyone who recommended me going there: you were right.

I started as a humble thief, but after visiting Narsis (and making around 10k drakes from selling various stuff I've... Found in tombs along the way) I'm considering committing to being a treasure hunter/merchant.

And it didn't even drop my framerate!

I've finally started a character specifically for Tamriel Rebuilt any cool places to visit?

So far I saw a city on an island all the way to the bottom and it may be cool so I'm slowly going there

Should this sub have pinned post for new players?

Recently I noticed a lot of posts from new players asking similar questions (mostly what mods are essential, any tips for new players and so on).

Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to shame the people. I think I made similar post when I tried to come back to the game, but that made me think, wouldn't it make it more convenient for everyone to have pinned post/thread for that?

Subreddit for identifying art from postcard

My friend is into postcards, got some weird one with an art that looks like from deviant art (I don't mean it as an insult, it's what it reminds me of)

There are 2 subreddits about addressing something. That's how I learned I've been misspelling this wordy whole life

On that note, is there a place to look for opponents other than discord? Or is it the only thing I need?

u/KaitoKaro — 5 months ago

Probably my favourite troop to make so far, mostly because I could use a lot of bits that were just laying around lol
