My question is, if I don’t buy from the bigger known stores (like the dollplanet) how would I know what type of fiber I am getting?

With these two the label says nothing about the fiber type, I bought some off amazon and the only thing mentioned was silk heat resistant doll hair (which was 20-15cm long and it’s too short for my liking and stiff, lovely when straightened but hell to curl)

+ what stores u know deliver world wide? i will move to Saudi in 6 months and would still like to continue this hobby but neither dolls or wigs are a common interest for people of my country.

I would appreciate a list of global sellers! Independent or on Aliexpress

I’m customizing my first Lagoona & she is also my first reroot.

This. Sh!t. Is. Hard!! 💀🔥 my wrist is on fire, my eyes are crossed & time goes by so fast when I’m rooting hair it’s scary.

Seeing all the shorts I thought how hard could it be … my ghod, even cleaning the scalp off the original hair is hard and that’s only the start. I think I’ve put good 4-5 hrs on this little ball of hair and is still not finished yet 😭

🤣🫠 I’m complaining yes, because my friends, what the hell is wrong with us picking up such hobby?

i love the result so far … but I wont do any rerooting after this one for a bit.

I’m actually very happy & satisfied with the results but I want to chat. I’m in my 30s now, and my artistic skills are miles better than what they were in my childhood/teens… when I was young I was seen as “the barbie destroyer” and when I am old enough to be good at sculpting, painting, sewing, rerooting and styling … I am now suddenly too old or too creepy to have customizing dolls as a hobby? I really can’t win, can I 🫠?

I’m not mad, just wanted to chat with those who have the same creative drive to destroy and remake beautiful things around them. Honestly, I’m too tired to care too much on what is an appropriate adult activity and what it is not. I’m enjoying the creativity, the flow state I get in when I’m customizing and I haven’t felt joy in so long! 😊 I’ve only started this month with custom dolls after not playing with any doll since I was 6 I think!

Maybe I’ll exchange them for white lashes when I get the chance, but the spider legs were not cutting it for me! I feel like deep down I bought her just because I thought I could fix those eyes haha! So did some shading and cut off the lashes and I feel so at ease with how she’s looking.

Her color is gorgeous, her hair is absolute delight and I managed to buy her for retail price! 🥹😍

I caved and got Draculaura sweet 1600 and she’s ridiculously beautiful (except for the hair, Mattle please get ur sh!t together I don’t want to reroot every single doll)
Then there is Self-scare Spectra admiring her nails! She’s the prettiest Spectra I have! Even more beautiful than the skullector Spectra I got.

I work in STEM research which is a demanding & promising career but I hate it … i hate working with scientists, i hate doing the science, the excel sheets, the technical documents, i hate the work being primarily done on screens & the repetition with minimal tactical/visual input in my daily life. I hate doing brain based work … i want to work with my hands, it’s the only thing that calms my brain

I’m the most fulfilled when I am sculpting, doing pottery, drawing or painting and I was never left alone to get those skills to where I want them because I was always pushed to peruse a stable career that I was ok with until I came to hate it! So all my creative projects get interrupted because I have to pay attention to things “I have to do”
I’m constantly thinking how can my art make me a decent living but whenever I do some research I find people saying that any carft based career is struggling and i genuinely don’t know what to do other than feel sad and discouraged

And honestly I think Mattel is doing us dirty. Don’t get me wrong, i love the design and ideas but my Skullector is exactly the same material as the play line… and the hair is very unenjoyable to the touch (coming from a Bratz & BJD owner)
I’m new to MH and the second hand market is insane when you consider the quality. I would love to get my hand on a FrankexBarbie but those prices are just predatory considering how cheap the doll actually is. I have couple of articulated popmart skullpanda & Dimoo that i got for £60-140 and all of them feel high quality made for adult collectors…. So I’m kinda disappointed.

I also have a Draculaura & a Lagoona that I plan to custom /reroot… but that’s how I feel about most of MH dolls once I see them in person, so much potential but poor production.

Couple of my Yasmins are off Vinted & restyled. My always bratz Yasmin is adorbs but I hate to admit I spent too much time figuring out what to do with her hair (the unfortunate bangs & messy curls she came with) that’s why she’s always posed with the mirror in hand xD

Then I have a stunning burgundy haired Meygan, I’m do in love with her & I’m bedazzling her outfit. Then model Barbie, decided to name her Fairouz. A shy OOAK Blythe & 2 big BJD ladies who I still didn’t name 😊

Got them second hand 🥹🫠 the seller sprayed perfume & just shoved’em in a parcel bag with no protection so they arrived smelling like boiled lemons and with crazy tangled hair ( I should’ve taken pictures but was too excited to wash them)

I did a teaspoon of fabric softener in just boiled water, & the result ✨👌🏼
I might do natural curlz for Jasmine when I’m done with my orher creative projects but for now, i’ll just enjoy this beauty.

First time painting lips & brows! I’m a bit bias to dark lips on tan skin so I just had to change it.
Loved the top but I hated the pants. I tried to curl her hair but it seemed thinned and maybe too processed, so a high pony tail is the best i was able to do. & to bring it all together, the pom pom earrings!
