Flukes? Before and after fresh water dip.

One of my first fish after cycling my new tank. I saw some weird blister like things on my firefish (his name is guy)
It’s a 36 gallon tank in planning to be a reef tank.
I’m feeling slightly discouraged from him falling ill so fast. It seems the bumps came off during the very stressful dip. He was still eating and hanging out. He’s in QT right now, 5 gallons bc I don’t want to try and catch him again. I’m looking for a UV sterilizer to run. I think a lot of it fell off during the dip.
Sorry for the awful pictures. My phone doesn’t like to take fish tank pics.

Hello!! I was told to share. My banded kuhlis bred in my canister filter.

These guys gave me a heart attack and made me almost poop my pants today. FX6 was making sounds so I opened it to clean it. The horror when I saw these guys (tray had been sitting for 5 minutes with no water on them)
They actually have been breeding in here I guess. I have more than I originally bought and these bandeds are TINY compared to my others.
Still pretty shocked they even managed to stay alive in there. Lmao

How does this happen? Colony of Kuhlis living in my FX6

I literally just almost pooped my pants when I went to clean my FX6. I found like 10+ kuhlis in there. I thought they were dead but nope, alive and well and some are so small I do not believe I bought them. The filter was making a weird noise so I took it apart to clean it.

A couple weeks ago my cats chews my hoses on my FX6. I turned it off for about ten minutes while cleaning up the mess (but it was the middle of the day?) then took out and disconnected the hoses while I ran to the store to get new ones.
How? Literally how? They have never done this and I they cannot get into my intake due to it not having big enough holes. I’m stumped, shocked and impressed.

Sick little freaks. There favorite day is snail cull day.

I love them but when they all meet me at the corner of the tank with empty snail shells in their mouths like a dang golden retriever with a toy… I question their morals. 🤣

Does anyone have this and if so do you like it? Will be adding a sediment filter and water softener before.

Tired of well water. Going to get a sediment filter, water softener & commercial rodi to make this hobby easier.

Water is literally un-drinkable, no RO or RODI can handle it without exhausting the resin immediately even after going through 2 RO/sed carts. Figured I’d get a nice unit but was wondering if anyone has used this brand.

Leroy lived 14 years in a 28g hexagon tank. I’ve now had him for 3 months.

Now he’s fat, kinda sassy and has learned how to swim. He’s grown in every way other than brain cells. He’s still stupid but that’s ok.
It’s insane to see how a good life can liven and color up a fish.

I love these water puppies so bad.

I love these guys so much. They really just make me so happy everyday. Vivian (largest oranda but a model on the side) has been with us for over 6 years. 3 different states, selling and buying homes, grieving/losses, gains, hard times and happy times.
Please enjoy these precious pics of the little pit bulls of the fish world.

I think Congos are so underrated

Fish are so pretty, especially Congo tetras. . I changed the placement of my fx6 output and they always play in the flow for a day or two. Everyone is all colored up!

Recluse, correct?

Located in the US (Oklahoma)

Have seen a good amount these guys in the house lately. Typically try to put them outside but this guy was sparring with my cat.

Using dry rock that’s been used by someone else?

What precautions do I need to take with this rock? My tank is still cycling but near the end.

I picked up a tank from a lady whose aunt passed and left a massive amount of saltwater supplies to her, and she is selling it all.
I picked up some really pretty (shaped pretty at least lol) dry rock that’s been in her shed for a long time. It was in the aunts tank at some point. Probably 80-90lbs for $30.

Oh look, the celeb decided to make his monthly appearance.

Must’ve been real hungry. I only see my two clown plecos on full moons occasionally a Wednesday.

Better RODI options?

My well water is insanely awful. 80-100ppm nitrates, TDS 990, and so on. I currently have 2 RODIs that are constantly running to keep up. It’s actually not even legal drinking water, but my landlord does not care. We’ll be buying another house next year hopefully so I don’t want to install a home water filtration system if I don’t have to.

After I’ve used the new cartridges for about one or two 32gallon brute cans my nitrates start showing at about 5ppm and the DI is orange/red. Is this just my life for now or is there another system I can get that will last longer? It’s mainly the DI that wears quickly but the sediment, carbon and whatever the other one is also often needs replaced.

With my freshwater tanks I don’t worry as much about the small amount of nitrates and TDS but my reef tank I’m cycling I do worry about it. I’m spending so much money on cartridges.

How do you tell if your hillstreams are skinny or healthy?

They look pretty plump from the sides but the tank is big enough it makes it hard to get a good pic. They have some stone/rock caves we’ve made for them and feed them in. They’re always eating the abundant biofilm instead though lol. There’s only 3 in there and there’s a lot of surface area. (We bought 4 but lost one the day after we brought it home).

My dojos scare me every time they do this.

Why do they mouth breath like they’re dying! They go back to normal and scavenge for more food while doing this.
They only don’t do this after they eat Repashy. It scares me everytime. Do anyone else’s do this? I test water every time it happens. No ammonia, no nitrite.
It scares me every single time lol.

Did my rabbit snails already breed?

I just got some rabbit snails a month or 2 ago, haven’t done a deep look on the tank in a week or 2. Is this what I think?

How often am I supposed to dose ammonia?

I am having the most difficult time finding good info on how to dose ammonia to cycle a tank.

I dosed Tim’s ammonia and bacteria to what it said last night and I’m only at about .25-.50 this evening. Am I supposed to dose everyday or? I have been on my phone all day trying to find an exact answer and cannot find one. Idk if I’m supposed to keep dosing or wait.
I did use live rock but that’s it.

I have not cycled a tank in a long time. I have 10 freshwater tanks running currently and I have always used media from one to set up another.
