Port of Corpus Christi signs agreement to explore nuclear technology for ships, port operations

This is in hurricane country, having a reliable source of independent power for one of the country's most strategic ports sounds like a good start.

Suspect arrived on horseback before allegedly pointing rifle at bar staff.

Doesn't get anymore Texas than this.

Looking for a performance transmission shop in the San Antonio area.

I have a 2020 Silverado with the infamous 8L90E. I'd like to find a shop that does both performance tunes and mechanical upgrades on these transmissions. I'm actually a couple of hours south of San Antonio but none of the local shops I've contacted have inspired much confidence. I don't mind the drive if there's a place in SA that can handle the job.

I'd normally handle the mechanical part myself, but I don't have access to a lift and I'm too old to do something like that flat on my back.

TIA

Maytag French door refrigerator sudden stopped making ice.

It's at least 10 years old and has been rock-solid reliable, until today when I found the ice bin nearly empty. The water flow is fine through the dispenser and the filter is maybe a month old, so supply isn't a problem. The auger and everything else seem to be working normally, the tray simply doesn't refill. I pulled out the bin and felt up inside, there was a single row of cubes upside down on top of the tray which I removed hoping that was the problem, but it didn't make any difference and the tray was empty. The bail that detects the ice level moves freely and nothing appears to be jammed up in any way, no rogue cubes stuck where they don't belong.

I cut the power for a few minutes hoping a "reboot" would help, still nothing. For whatever reason the valve to refill the tray with water just isn't activating, everything else operates normally.

I'm usually pretty handy with home repair but icemakers are a bit out of my wheelhouse. I'd hate to spend a fortune on a service call for such an old unit but I also want to avoid firing the parts cannon trying to fix it myself, and searching the internet didn't tell me anything I didn't already try. If anyone here has any advice on where to begin it would be highly appreciated.

Look what my local mega-mart just started carrying!

I've heard so much about this brand now I finally get to try it.

Remember all of those "OMG NOBODY IS BUYING TICKETS TO THE WORLD CUP!" posts that plagued the front page, until recently? Umm...

They aren't going to like this.

Please keep this out of the hands of the city council.

Diversifying the port is a great idea, possibly our first major "post-bridge" customer.

2017 Cherokee KL multiple DTCs after battery replacement.

This is my son's car. Some time ago the battery died so he got a replacement, immediately after starting the engine the dash lit up with numerous warnings, namely the parking brake, traction control and ABS lights. The car drives fine, but the CEL does pop up randomly.

I scanned the codes and there was an endless list of "communication errors", common with a dead battery. The most concerning active code is C006A49, which is an internal electrical failure of the multi-axis acceleration sensor. Of course I've already done a bunch of online research and the most popular recommendation was to do a "proxy-alignment". I picked up a vLinker MC+ OBD2 scanner with the AlfaOBD app as suggested and did the realignment...no change. Leaving the battery disconnected for days also did nothing.

I'm trying to avoid a trip to the dealership, so if anyone has any advice it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Wanting to upgrade kitchen cabinet hinges.

My early-80s kitchen cabinets are due for some updating. We're going to paint the doors and carcass (once we decide on a color) and replace all the original contractor-grade hardware.

I'd like to upgrade the drab hinges to something much nicer, preferably hidden and soft-close. The doors themselves are 1/2" thick around the perimeter and the main body is 3/4" thick. I'm a novice woodworker and getting better, but my cabinetry skills are limited. I have most of the tools necessary except for a plunge router, likely something I'll need. I have 21 doors total, 2-3 hinges each, so I don't want anything *too* complicated or expensive.

I've done lots of research online but still have questions on which way to go. I could certainly use some advice from the pros on this sub. Thanks in advance.

Best (and most honest) transmission shop in town?

I'm sure this isn't the first time this has been asked, but this sort of info changes all the time. I have a Chevy Silverado with the garbage 8-speed transmission that's out of warranty and just threw a code. That's a bit out of my skill set so I have to call in the pros, unfortunately transmission shops in general have a rather dubious reputation for quality, so I was hoping someone here might have a good recommendation.

Thanks in advance.
