Just spent 10 days visiting your lovely country. A brilliant place except for one thing!
I've just spent 10 days in your lovely country. We hiked up Toubkal, spent some nights in Imlil, went around the markets, quad biked in Agafay among lots of other stops in various beautiful places. Absolutely everyone we encounter were lovely, friendly people and I thank all Moroccons for their hospitality.
The only thing that ruined it was the terribley sad and depressing animal abuse that seemed to almost be everywhere. Horses absolutely worked to exhaustion in 35+ degree weather. We saw multiple times men beating these horses with a stick in the blistering heat while they were waiting for their next customer. Monkeys chained up in the middle of the square waiting on tourists to approach for pictures, snakes being constantly teased and at one place in the market (which we didn't go into for fear of what we'd see) was terrible animal noises, maybe chickens or other animals clearly significantly distressed.
Why does the beautiful country of Morocco allow these things, most tourists hate it and it would seriously make me reconsider visiting again.
