Makera z1 opinions

Hello everyone!
I’m a 19-year-old EE student, and I’ve been using a 3D printer for over three years. Now I want to step up my skills and get into CNC machining.
Recently I came across the Makera Z1 desktop CNC. On paper, it seems like a solid machine for a beginner, but I’d love to hear from people who have actually used it.
Do you think it’s a worthwhile investment? My goal isn’t to start a business—I mainly want to learn CNC, CAM, and machining while building small projects from wood, aluminum, brass, and other soft materials.
I have a few questions:
How has it held up over time?
What are its biggest strengths and weaknesses?
Is it worth the price, or are there better options in the same price range?
If you had around a $1,000–$1,500 budget, would you still choose the Z1?
I’d really appreciate any advice or experiences. Thanks!

Help me design my plane.

Hello guys, recently i decided to build my first rc plane. Its similar to cessna design.
70cm fuselage
90cm wingspan

My question is how do i handle flaps.
I want to use just 4 servos so im thinking to make elevators on the back and pair of ailerons on main wing. Will those 4 flaps let me do basic maneuvers?
Like gain altitude, roll, land.

Also should i add rudder?

Pistol Grip Controller for CyberBrick RC Cars

After several weeks of designing and testing, I finally finished a pistol-grip style controller for CyberBrick RC cars.

Features

Steering wheel control
Trigger-style throttle
LED control button
Customizable joystick
Customizable 3-position switch
Compatible with the original CyberBrick Remote Control Kit (ZK007)
No additional tools required for assembly
Can be assembled in about 15 steps

Development Process

This project went through roughly 10 design iterations before reaching its current form. Each version helped improve ergonomics, assembly, and compatibility. While I’m happy with the result, there are still several areas that could be optimized in future updates.
The model includes a PDF assembly guide and is designed specifically for the CyberBrick Remote Kit.
I’d love to hear your feedback, suggestions, or ideas for future improvements. If you find the project useful, please consider liking, sharing, and downloading the model—it really helps more makers discover it and motivates me to continue developing CyberBrick accessories.

Thanks for checking it out!

P.S i will leave the link in comments for free download

Suggestions for summer project

Hey guys, so im planning to create some kind of aircraft as summer project - remote controlled airplane or autonomous drone. As you would guess they both need some kind of gyro for balancing in air.

  1. What gyro module would you suggest? Or should i make it from scratch using different components.
  2. What software can i use to calibrate and customize aircraft?
