My bracketed clarification in italicised quote - style advice needed

Being politically correct I shouldn't [say that]

or

Being politically correct I shouldn't [say that]

Briefly, in a quoted sentence which appears in italics, I have added my own square-bracketed clarifying words but don't know if I italicise them too.

This is a style query rather than grammar or punctuation - had a look but did not see the 'style' sub ...is there one?

Rose's vocal on Crowleymass

Her voice is achingly beautiful on this track, the 1987 version, appearing briefly at the 45 second mark. But I can't hear what she is singing... can anyone?

[TOMT] Term for 'counter intuitive expanding scale of time or work'

I've heard a term to describe the 'syndrome' where a repeated task has an unexpectedly large or cumulative scale that makes it impossible to finish. I'm thinking of something like the gamblers' fallacy (I know that's different) or some other non-obvious statistical probability. A bit like if the odds of doing something successfully are 1%, repeating it 100 times ISN'T going to necessarily be successful. I'm also thinking of how trying to find that last Pokemon card won't be quick just because you already bought most of the cards in the set. I seem to remember it being called something like the Archer's Problem or the Bricklayer's Dilemma - Traditional Occupation + mathematical principle. One for economists, logicians or IQ puzzle solvers perhaps - my brain just cannot hold this kind of info anymore!

Someone else's Instagram account now appears in my account switcher

An awkward Insta problem has just arisen that I can't seem to fix... can you help? I have a few Instagram accounts that I switch between, one is for an organisation with several people accessing the account for admin. I gave a new team member the password and she did all the Insta security code faff to have the account added, successfully. However I now have access to her other personal Insta account, presumably through the shared account centre set up. I see this when I switch through accounts on my phone, but in my 'manage account centre' settings, her personal account is not there. So I can't just delete it. Other team members also now have access to her personal account. I can't work out where the settings are to change this awkward and seemingly rather vulnerable situation. I doubt anything bad is going to happen knowing the members but I would like to do something about it ASAP! I can't contact Instagram.

Broken brazed washer beneath tap, under basin

One tap was rattling loose but would not fix by finger-strength tightening the plastic nut underneath the sink. A closer inspection revealed that a metal 'washer' above the plastic nut section, originally brazed onto the metal basin, has snapped. The loose tap is actually the loose washer. My question is - does that mean the end of the basin? Or is it worth me trying to glue it in place?

Sending a package to Ufa, Bashkortostan from UK

Royal Mail has open links to Russia and I successfully sent a letter last year, although it took several months. I now want to post a parcel of about 2kg with gifts like a painting, a book, some trinkets like a pebble, a snail shell... I would like to get a sense of how likely these items will arrive safely. I've looked at previous posts here which suggest that business documents will get through, but also that non-food personal items will be allowed through. How successful have you been in recent days, weeks months with non-business items with Royal Mail or any other carriers / courriers?

Mixing rich blacks for image

This one is driving me bonkers. I have to mix the blacks of an image to C 80 K 100 M 20 Y 20 for my commercial printer - their requested levels. I've variously tried to do it on the cheap in GIMP, Scribus and Photopea but it turns out to be either impossible or extremely difficult - installing extra downloads via Terminal on mac. I started a subscription to InDesign just to do this one task - and if I've got this right, it can't be done in InDesign either - text only! Do I have to get Photoshop too, or is there another way to edit a series of images to have their blacks set to these particular levels?

How to mix rich blacks in GIMP?

Is it even possible? In GIMP 3.06, I can export as CKMY but I need to mix the blacks to a particular profile, as requested by my print shop. C 50 K100... &c

The plan was to do the colour mixing in Scribus, but apparently you can mix the colour in images, and all my pages are basically images with solid black backgrounds.

Searching for a solution to mixing a colour profile in GIMP is really difficult... it seems to lead me further away from success! I tried to download a plug in but needed to 'build' the plug in, which required terminal commands, which required Macport.... has anyone used a relatively straightforward workaround for me to be able to use these settings?

Note: I'm aiming to do this on freeware...

Punctuation in a list of quotes, phrases

I'm introducing a body of work with a series of words, phrases and quotes that relate to the material. It's supposed to read quite poetically and at that point my grammar breaks down! A section appears below. My question is really if I need to end each line with a full stop. The shorter phrases seem to look better without, like chapter titles would not need a fullstop but would include eg a question mark if appropriate. Help! I've been looking at it too long and can't think!

'Triggering!'

A puzzle

'Intrusive?'

A peek into fragile and fiery private lives, clues to stories intended as secrets

Sent, read, ripped, dropped

Public domain

Street finds, illuminating human life

Washed out words, tear-soaked fragmented life

Reassembled vignettes

More gap than substance

Setting Rich Blacks in Scribus

I've assembled a booklet of mostly images, mostly black backgrounds. I've searched online and tried the Scribus manual but I can't seem to work out how to set the Rich Blacks, ie how to mix a recipe of eg C60 M40 Y 40 K 100 to then save to PDF. Any one got a handy A>B>C> tip for me to find where I need to be? Many thanks!

Booklet template in Scribus

I'm laying out my first booklet in Scribus. I've chosen the book template, which has a nice clear layout of a single page cover and sequential open double pages. But I'm designing a booklet that will fold through the middle, and I would have expected to see for example the first layout showing both front and back of the booklet, rather than just the front cover. Also, that the page number would not be sequential, to reflect the stacked sheet before being folded. I google some tips but it was unclear - one comment was that the PDF would accommodate the page arrangement of a booklet. Can anyone help me with what template I need for a stapled booklet in Scribus?

WTW for when you know you have presented something as wrong....

...but you did so because if you presented it accurately people would dispute it? Kind of playing the 'common misconceptions' theme with some strategic inaccuracy.

The example I have is the survey of Mt Everest in the 19th-century. Calculations came out to a suspiciously perfect 29,000 feet. Fearing the public would assume the number was a lazy guess rather than a precise measurement, surveyors deliberately tacked on an extra 2 feet and reported it as 29,002 feet.

Is there a term or word for errors presented knowingly in strategic anticipation?

Help me explore watery connections with royalty

I would like to explore the poetic and historic links between Royalty and Water. My existing list appears below, research for a thorough but somewhat tongue-in-cheek essay. What else could I include? I felt poets would be the best minds to ask first, rather than r/askreddit

King John in the Wash

King Canute

King Fisher

The Fisher King

The Crown of Thorns starfish

Dolphin / Dauphin

Queen scallop

Ice Queens and Snow Queens

The Prince of Whales

Queen of the Sea (The Titanic)

QE2

‘The throne’ - British slang for the toilet.

Royal Leamington Spa

The Prince of Whales

What is the word: preastion?

Just that I'm intrigued rather than it is important - but what is that second word, presumably a positive attribute, 'preastion'?

Can't find a Billy Idol 80s track

Around 1985 I used to listen to a Billy Idol compilation that had a song that I now can't find. It was a live version of (I'm not quite sure here) Do Not Stand in the Shadows, beginning with a sloooow, low, very heavy, grinding, groaning electric guitar sound before getting going into the familar version of the song...today we might call it doom rock. It was horrible in a O))) way, but I loved it! The comp also had on Flesh For Fantasy, Hot in the City, Eyes Without a Face but when I look on streaming services / YouTube I can't find the horrible guitar intro song - I also am not 100% that this wasn't a mix someone made for me. Anyway, that's my quest! Let me know if you recognise what I'm describing here...thanks!

TLDR - Billy Idol live track c 1984 on a compilation that began with slow, heavy, droning electric guitar.

I'm having trouble getting my head round this task. I want to erase parts of a layer to show the layer beneath. Even with the top layer activated, either nothing happens when I use the erase tool or it turns white rather than show what's beneath. I'm having trouble understanding why I can't do this as standard by adding a second layer, with many options to save to alpha channel, paste in place, anchor to layer...what do I need to do to the top layer to make it show the background or bottom layer?
