GREAT SUCCESS 6 months at 2.5mg Mounjaro update! A1c 9.3 to 5.2 -- 40 pounds down (18.2 Kg)

My story, while not unique, is not as common.

I am not at all concerned with my A1c creeping up 0.1 over 3 months as I had a prednisone shot in my shoulder and 2 of the 12 weeks had very elevated glucose levels. My CGM and finger tests were consistent during those times.

Male 57.5 years I am 5'3' (1.6 m) barely... Medium level stroke January 2018 Thalamus - infarction 1.2 cc dead grey matter. Still have some reminders daily but I persist!

For all but 2 weeks I've been on 2.5mg for diabetes type 2 - that returned with a vengeance! 5,0 for 2 weeks - not well tolerated with much gastric distress.

November 13, 2025: - A1C 9.3 November 178 lbs (80.8 Kg) Initial re-diagnosis - after November 2023 under some control (should not have missed any follow ups - please go to see your doctors!)

February 12 A1C 5.1 February 2026 148 lbs (67.4kg)

May 14, 2026 138 lbs (62.6 kg)

Have a Libre 3 plus CGM sensor. Now that I can turn off the alarms overnight (I've never been terribly low - and there is a history of hypoglycemia on my mom's side with T2 diabetes for 2 generations (known) on dad's side and T1 on mom's side.

My VO2 max levels have shot up from 28.6 to 34.9 on average during exercise (never stopped exercising over the 2 years) over the last 6 months and my cardiac recovery is at it's best level between 27-30 bpm vs. 17-20 in November 2025.

I had the option of going off Mounjaro 2.5 but I do know based on self-control on portion sizes and amounts, I still am dependent on it until I hit my goal weight (before adding muscle) of 125 lbs (56.7 kg) which is agreed with my team of doctors and my nutritionist as a bottom weight goal and maintain. I expect to be on it for 3-6 months more at most.

I am expecting to add some muscle to get consistently to around 130 lbs. or so which is my ideal athletic weight in my 20s. While I am not expecting to be in the same shape, I started 5k runs, ice skating, and soon playing ice hockey again, over the past 8 years (was on Victoza in 2018 post stroke).

The key for me is keeping my A1c down, and reducing my weight further, especially the small amount of belly fat I have now (and a key indicator of my personal health, and that of my late father, and his mother's health, since I was a child), Again - this is for me and my body - your mileage may vary.

My nutrient levels, and all other levels (I am ovo/lacto vegetarian) are either pinned left or right (if that is the ideal) or dead center if that is ideal. Waiting on protein spill results from yesterday but otherwise, everything is headed in the correct direction. Dad passed at 78, my grandma at 68. I selfishly want 88 - as long as I am active.

I also know that the 2 separate injuries I've had, slowed down some of my exercising - but physical therapy (and said prednisone shot) have my shoulder healing well. But I have to prepared for future injuries, and stress, and not let them allow me to bump up my A1c again!

Shoulder Pads - recovering from injury (57 y/o m)

I have my helmet, cage, gloves, elbow pads, skates, and sticks. Mix of mostly Bauer, CCM, Warrior. Just 5'3" 135 and 57 male - can use intermediate or senior gear.

My main concern is shoulder protection from both falls/shot impact and also if any help prevent shoulder jamming? Used to wear CCM as a kid but partial to Bauer.

I don't care about spend as I think I've been done growing for about 40 years now.

I care about protection and ultimately fit. I plan to play wing and Defense - adult league. Righty.

Saw the Bauer Mach (elbows are CCM and gloves warrior) and they seem to be light and offer a bit of protection.

Thanks in advance!
