The display makes it worth it over the Air

I just got a new M4 Air, and although it’s a beautiful device, I didn’t realize just how bothersome the display would be coming from an XDR MacBook Pro and especially an XDR OLED iPhone. I’ll be returning it for the Pro.

The colors pop, but as someone who uses Dark Mode all the time, the lack of true blacks is annoying. The worst part is the 60 Hz screen. It makes the experience (with UI animations) feel jittery/slow despite utilizing an M4 chip. My iPhone feels smoother with an A19 Pro chip.

It’s crazy how a lower refresh rate gives the illusion of lower performance. At least that’s been my experience over the past few days. I’m so used to 120 Hz.

What does the white bar below the time indicate? All my notifications are already dismissed.

Backblaze Memory Leak?

This seems to be a memory leak. There is no backup running currently, but this is a large amount of RAM, regardless.

I'm running an M4 Pro MacBook Pro on Sequoia 15.7.7 and the latest version of Backblaze (10.0.1.1038).

Should I send a log to Backblaze?

Think we’ll get an MP reveal trailer on day 1 of Fanatics Fest (July 16th)?

It would make sense to me considering it's a public reveal event of sorts and I imagine lots of footage will hit the web, but MP trailers are historically timed later.

Transparency mode no longer enables when taking out one AirPod, and other bugs.

Got a new pair of AirPod Pro 3s a couple weeks ago. The sound is excellent, and when it works properly, so is the functionality.

However, taking out one bud no longer enables Transparency mode. It sounds like the listening modes disable until I place the other bud back in.

Also, sometimes my phone will not detect that one of the buds is in, so I have to put them back in their case and take them out again for it to register that both buds are inserted. This started happening after I left the buds out of the case overnight and was lying on one of them, though they are pretty durable, and it's not like I was sleeping on a hard surface.

The most annoying issue is the ANC becoming less effective randomly, so I have to switch modes back and forth for it to work as expected again.

Are issues like these common with AirPod Pros? I searched up and found the factory reset method as I was about to hit the Post button here, so I'll give that a try.

I may pay for the $20/year Apple Care plan considering how cheap it is for AirPods.

Transparency mode stopped engaging when taking out one Pod?

Got AirPod Pro 3s a couple weeks ago. Started to have some issues. Currently, Transparency mode no longer activates when either the L or R is taken out the ear. I have to take both out to properly hear.

Rest timer not showing in Apple Watch?

Got a new phone, synced the app up with my Apple Watch. Everything is working besides the rest timer. My watch will still buzz when it’s over, but it only shows on my phone.

Anyone else/anything I’m missing?

How does the ANC compare between AirPod Pro 3 and Status Pro X?

The sound quality of Status is often said to be better, but how is the ANC? iPhone user.

As a former Ottorbox Defender user, is Paragon most comparable for protection, or is Sheath better?

I initially got the feeling that Paragon is what I’m looking for. Hard shell exterior, ShockLite™ perimeter, 15’ drop tested, and an option to cover the phone’s back camera bump.

However, Sheath seems to be entirely ShockLite ™ rather than just the perimeter, but there is no hard shell exterior. It’s my understanding this could be better for absorption. It is also 15’ drop tested, and like Paragon, there’s a camera bump cover option.

Synthesis has “outstanding impact absorption,” but doesn’t mention ShockLite™. Though, it is also 15’ drop tested. There isn’t a camera bump cover option, just a raised lip.

Veil is super thin and minimalist, only protecting against “scratches and minor bumps.” Like Synthesis, it features a raised camera lip rather than a cover option.

Gym earbuds. Most concerned with sound quality (ideally transparent) and reliability. I have no experience with ANC. Which would you choose - Bose, Sony, Apple? Price isn’t a concern.

Momentum 5 extended warranty - yes or no?

Through Sennheiser’s site, they use SureBright. Through Amazon, it looks to be Asurion.

I’ll be using these in the gym quite a bit, but I’m pretty careful with audio gear.

I’ve read about QC/build quality issues some have experienced with the Momentum line, which surprised me because these are often considered a safer bet than Sony’s XM line (over-ear) due to their build issues.

I’m tempted to skip the warranty, but I’d like to get thoughts here from experienced Sennheiser users, specifically users of the Momentum line.

Thank you.

Does the QC U 2 slip off the head during workouts?

I hear it’s a very comfortable/looser pair of headphones compared to the tighter grip of the Sony XM6, but is it too loose for strength training and cardio?
