TMP directors cut is shorter? Which had the longer gratuitous montage of the Enterprise?

Having finished Lower Decks and rewatched the Crisis Point episodes, I’m going back to watch the source material, which includes the first Trek movie. But now I’m seeing that the directors cut is actually shorter. So for purposes of the gratuity spoofed in crisis point, I’d like to watch the longer version of that scene if the directors cut edited it shorter

Is this air conditioner into this power strip a bad idea?

Neither window is close enough to plug directly with the shirt power cord. Is this a real fire hazard? Would a relatively cheap different power strip suffice? Or do we need some expensive other unit? Pictures included

I’d love separate outs for the two split frequency ranges (the clean lows and the distorted highs)

The frequency range split that dark glass does is so great and usable, I end up using drive so much more frequently then ever before, and it works, not a gimmick, not over bearing, not too much, I dont Have to be too cautious or trepiditious.

I do wish that I could keep those signals separate for longer, for example for some drive stacking, applying a secondary drive just to the driven portion. Of course I could just get a secondary drive dark glass of some sort and I just might, but I do have other drives that sound great but apply to the whole range (or have filters but no splitting). I currently have the AO 500.

I think the first movie episode (therapy) is the best episode

I personally think the show is at its best when it’s the Mariner show and this episode is Mariner to the max I love the unhinged stubborn version, and this is a parody of her…in a show which is already a parody…so meta and great like Community. Then her surprise reveal to her self about herself is done so well. Newsome performs the roles of startrek villain and hero deliciously. On my second watch through, let’s see if another episode beats this one.

Bass guitar strings with ropecore/fibercore? (As opposed to a single piece core

Somehow I got it on my mind that the TI jazz flats were a fiber core string but turned out I’m wrong. So are basically no bass guitar strings constructed with a ropecore? Doesn’t only really make sense if you want to bow and pluck? Or only for long scale?

HOW low tension are the TI flats?

I’m likely to get a set of these anyways regardless of the answer, I’ve liked the sound of what I’ve heard and the reputation and descriptions. If it’s really EXTRA low literally like the most typical rounds, then I’ll just use them low action, if they are a. It closer to for example the Dadorio half rounds then I’ll lift the action a bit. Anyone think they can gauge the tension more precisely?

Baptist church hill road still closed?

Anyone know why? A legit reason or do the locals just prefer no thru traffic? It’s a very small bridge I don’t see how it could possibly take 3 plus years even with a nice thorough ecological and drinking reservoir concerns.

How do I get forescore not to do this overlay automatically to this pdf?

I down load PDFs or turn images into PDFs and teansfer them no problem into forScore all the time but every so often it does this and I can’t figure out what’s going on. Image attached showing but describe it as well. The off is just regular black on white sheet music totally normal looking, I’ve even imported the same pdf into Igigbook as well it looks normal there normal in my iPad file manager but in forScore it’s adding blue circles over every note and is blue highliting the key signature and the tempo, as well as rests

What does my friend need done to his guitar?

Pictures included. An 18 fret guitar not sure the scale, classical style spacing, three nylon three steel strings. There’s a crack at what I think is called the heel, and the whole neck at least if not also part of the body is bowing, such that the distance between string and neck around higher frets is much higher then his nut height. .

Preamps with variable Q resonance tone? Preferably per pickup

Some Alembics have not just a tone knob per pickup but a resonance control similar to most low pass filters in synthesizers. This appeals to me as it allows a) an additional utility way of cutting through a bit better, but also b) a way to have a cool in your face psychedelic sound, but implemented in a way that a pedal can’t do (per pickup). Are such preamps available to buy and install in any bass? Or is this just an alembic thing?

Is it easy enough to put an adjustable height nut (like Warwick has)on any bass ?

Warwick bases have a nut with screws for adjusting the height, allowing the action to be different heights at different places along the neck whereas traditionally you’re stuck with the nut that a base has and to adjust the height at the bridge only gives you so much control are there such nuts that can be bought and just put on any base or is it problematic?

I enjoyed season one but don’t want to continue watching every episode. Reccomend me key episodes from the rest of the run

I truly enjoyed all of season one. Stylish mysterious sexy the good kind of campy but I get the sense from this sub that it’s probably the most coherent season and I don’t think I want to just continue on serial. Are there episodes through the series that are best?

Where to draw the line for what counts as sitcom?

I used to think of it as that stage in front of audience format, so shows like Simpsons, mad tv, the office, arrested development wouldn’t count. But I see this sub seeming to include the office and arrested fairly often. So what about shows like even Steven’s? Simpsons?

Bass guitars with built in mic?

I’m aware of hollow /semi hollow basses with combinations of peizo and mag pu, are there basses that have built in mic? I tend to think upright acoustic bass mic sound is better then piezo (combination is the best to my ears). Does a bass have to have a big chamber for it to make sense? Is something in the Rob Allen/godin/ Ibanez semi category just not going to make a tone worthy of micing?

Characters that are youths but it is never relevant?

Maybe not NEVER relevant, but there are plenty of characters be it books TV or movies, where if you didn’t catch them say that the character is a kid or teen, you’d never know. I’m thinking Link and Zelda, Marty McFly at least in the 3rd movie, the teenage mutant turtles, their teenager status is never made relevant, that Dungeons and Dragons cartoon from the 80s,

Two different size humbuckers on the same bass?

We see often enough mixes between p, “j”, and humbuckers, but I’ve seen hardly any mixes of two different parallel humbuckers on the same bass. Is the reasoning just that they have different outputs and it’s non trivial to balance them?

I personally tend to prefer wider pickups in the neck position and smaller pickups in the bridge position. I’ve wanted to hear and try out something with a fatter neck humbucker and a slimmer humbucker in the bridge. Get a bit more distinct bridge tone then say a music man but less so then a slim J shape pu, and a “muddier” neck pu sound then most slimmer humbuckers in the neck give you (what’s the word for muddy but in a good way?)

Closest thing to a not quite as low tension TI jazz flat string?

I like everything I hear of the ti flats on YouTube, they are a unique and pleasing sound. I wish there was a variant that was just not as low tension, a bit more thump just a bit. Most flats have too much thump for my tastes. I own a set of half rounds and a set of chrome flats, both are nice, but the ti flats really sing.

Seeing evidence of drinking again after two long sober stretches

My Q was a daily hard drinker for about 15 years, managed to go a full 200 days sober, went pretty quickly to daily drinking for three months, then fill sober for about theee months. I now see enough evidence of drinking that I think he’s back to daily though I don’t see evidence that it’s hard drinking (no throwing up sounds or head aches etc). I’m pretty sure of coarse either he stops drinking or he profrssses soon to heavy daily drinking again, he’s just not able to drink moderately.

Q is someone who has talked rationally in the past about their issues and their constitution. Ang suggestion how to talk to them about concerns at this juncture?

There are keyboards in those other two categories that are too big and heavy for transport but have extra nice action/key feel better then what is available in transportable form. Are there no synths in this category? Something that would just stay in a studio home church or venue?

And if so is it just the same selection as what they have available streaming? I’m flummoxed by how much of what I want to watch isn’t on ANY streaming service at any given time.
