2.5 Acre pond, about 70% pondweed coverage. What would you do?

We’ve manually pulled for a few days, and there just such a strong network that they grow extremely quickly right now. My dad tried an herbicide spray on a small section but it really didn’t seem to have any effect. We want to build more diversity, some plant life is just fine with us but this is definitely overkill.

High School Comparisons

Hello, my wife and I are looking to transition from renters to property owners in the next few years, and we can not stop thinking about the high schools and where we want our baby to go. I went to school in Moberly and always thought the schools in Columbia were big, fancy high schools. When Battle was completed, I was stunned at how cool the facilities were. I've unfortunately also been around the neverending "Columbia bad" propaganda, and today I know people who would say they would never send their kids to Battle, because it's so dangerous. With that being said, I saw a lot of fights and arrests in high school at Moberly, so I'm 90% convinced it's all pearl-clutching.

The last post i see discussing high-schools on here was a few years ago, and primarily comparerd RB to Hickman. How would you compare the three today? Would you still say RB has generally a higher socio-economic status and lower diversity? Growing up people called Hickman the "unsafe" school which I always assumed was due to racism and classism, but nowadays I hear Battle is the "unsafe" school, is there any truth to that or is it just further fearmongering?

Thank you all from a curious parent

how to dispose of a shoddy grill?

this grill worked fine for years, this summer it just seems to have trouble getting hot. how can i dispose of something this big? i’d rather not take it to the dump without a LOT more trash, since they charge by weight

Turning my shaded back yard from a mud pit into an aster patch with mulch paths

I moved in here and the backyard was just a mud pit, heavy shade and a sloped yard have led to lots of soil erosion, and my trees have quite a bit of exposed roots. I had planned to try to add something for erosion control, but my asters have taken over and they look so lovely in person so far. I’m hoping with love they can choke out some of the nearby gras that is competing with them

Neat difference in my Impatiens

I just noticed today that my white Impatiens are growing much fuller foliage compared to their pink cousins. The pink ones get about 2 hours of direct sun a day, which I think is the biggest contributing factor. Could the color of flower also cause this or is that silly?

Little General concerns

As the new Little General was going up, I immediately became concerned about the location. Right off the bat, it’s not very obvious how you’re supposed to get there. For a gas station off the interstate, not being immediately off of a major exit seemed like a terrible idea. But i tried to hold out hope and wait to see what it was like, because if the store itself was worth it, people would go out of their way. But now that it’s up, it’s extremely underwhelming. The vast parking lot almost gives you the impression you’re entering a Buc-Ees-Wally’s, and it really seems like that’s the space they’re trying to compete in, albeit on a smaller scale. But the whole place is one vast room, with food that is just your typical gas station food, no interesting attractions (the hot food counter is more similar in experience to a Casey’s than a Buc-Ees). If half the parking spaces at LG were filled, the building would turn into a large mob of people milling about, perhaps one massive line at the hot food counter. In contrast the design of other gas stations in the space include many different small counter, ceilings and shelves of varying height to give the space more design and separate customers from each other. Does anyone know if there are any more plans for this place? Will the I-70 construction end up making it easier to get there one day, or will it starve them out in the mean time? It’s like a ghost town over there. What thoughts do yall have?

My wife and I are looking to become homeowners in the next 5 years, and in theory everything we’ve heard about modular homes is right up our alley. With that being said, I have heard that they can be pretty shoddily constructed or made of poor materials often. I’m still interested, but looking on google seems to instantly take me to a bunch of big companies that don’t even give you an idea of a price range without entering contact information.

Has anyone purchased a modular/constructed home in the area? What was your experience like? Does anyone who works in the field give me an idea of typical low/medium/high price range?

is this a bad idea in general? we have the land, so building a house the old fashioned way is an option. let me know what you think!
