Ordered AutoEXE Suspension Kit for my ‘26 TSPP
I drive a lot of long distance as we split our time between two states (NC and Kentucky). The CX-90’s suspension compliance often leaves a lot to be desired on the broken interstate highways and curvy mountain roads I drive, as well as poorly maintained city streets. The car handles larger dips and undulations pretty well, but it’s those sharp sudden high impact bumps that send a nasty shudder through the whole car, and make it feel like you’re bouncing off the bump instead of it being absorbed.
I researched all of the available aftermarket suspension options and the AutoEXE kit seemed to have the best balance between comfort and handling. I spoke to some folks in the Philippines who have this kit installed on their CX-60s and CX-90s and they claimed it made a huge improvement to their car’s comfort, while also being a big handling upgrade. Mazda Philippines has even officially begun selling this suspension kit through their dealers as an approved replacement for the factory suspension components. I wish MazdaUSA would do that too, but I’m sure they won’t. The kit includes new sway bar links, new front and rear coilovers with twin tube dampers. All in it was about $1800. They told me it would ship by the end of the week (from Japan) and hopefully I’ll have it within 2 weeks.
Once I get it installed I will keep everyone updated on how it feels. Unlike some kits I saw this one does not have user set compression and rebound. It’s a fixed damping unit, but the manufacturer claims they believe they have the perfect blend of compliance and firmness baked in. If anyone on this sub is from the Raleigh, NC or Louisville, KY area and has a shop they have used for installing aftermarket suspension parts that did a good job, I would love a recommendation. I know several Euro car specialists in Raleigh but I am not sure if they would be willing to work on this Mazda. I’ll have to check. The installation doesn’t seem that complicated and I would likely do it myself but I am currently redoing my garage and it is too damn hot to do it out in my driveway in the 100°F heat and 500% humidity.
Last thing… this is technically for the CX-80, but the parts are interchangeable. The only change Autoexe recommended was setting the front height +10mm over the rear for the CX-90’s extra weight over the CX-80. This kit does slightly reduce ride height, a minimum of 15mm which is not my first choice, but I’m willing to sacrifice a smidge of ground clearance if it means the ride is much better.
