[DSi XL] USB-C mod — ripped pads, 0V at breakout board, no charge light

Doing a USB-C mod on a DSi and ripped the mounting/grounding pad off the board while removing the old port.

Current wiring: VBUS to the left side of F1, GND to the big square pad (photos attached). F1 has continuity, wires have continuity, using a dumb USB-A to C cable. But I'm reading 0V at the breakout board pins with the cable plugged in, and the console does nothing — no orange light.

What's the fix here? Is that square pad actually a valid ground point, and if not, where should I run the ground instead? Anything else I should be checking?

Thanks!

Got myself a PSVR2, what are good recommandations?

Hi everyone! I snagged a PS VR2 for €150, which is an absolute steal.

I have RE4 already installed. What are other games that are absolute must-plays? Other tips for the PSVR2 are also welcome!

Second time successfully installed 🤙🏻

First time was Switch Lite. Now I've got my hands on a V1 Switch.

Rate my latte art

After getting almost more than 6 months of practice in with my Sage Barista, I'm finally getting to a point where I'm proud of my latte art.

What do you guys think? Any tips or other tricks?

Help! This part of my gums are getting larger

I have an appointment tomorrow. Ready to go to sleep, but I'm really afraid to sleep with this bug lump in my mouth around my wisdom tooth.

I think it's time for a removal. It all started with the good intentions to floss/toothpicks again.

Does anyone know of this type of inflammation? And if this requires a removal?

Disapointed in the Luma Ultra

Hey everyone,

I recently picked up the Viture Luma Ultra (snagged them for €400), and while I love some aspects of them, I'm feeling pretty disappointed with the 6DoF functionality so far.

Don't get me wrong, the image quality is absolutely stunning and the picture is crystal clear. But my main reason for buying these was productivity. I was really hoping to use the 6DoF features to pin multiple virtual AR screens in space while working on my PC.

From what I can tell right now, it seems like full 6DoF is only really possible if you buy the Pro Neckband? Honestly, the neckband is quite pricey and seems a bit clunky for my taste.

Does anyone know if/when full 6DoF features will be natively available for PC? Or am I completely missing something here?

Right now, I'm struggling to find a solid use case for these other than just having a giant static monitor when I'm traveling. I've been using it with my Pixel 9 Pro, but it drains the phone's battery incredibly fast. I still need to test it out with my Steam Deck, but right now it falls short of my productivity expectations.

Would love to hear if anyone has workarounds or if there are updates coming that I missed!

What are my ods.

I bought this broken PS5 controller hoping I could fix it. This was already broken, but I took my chances and replaced the right and left sticks, hoping it would work. (The seller said that he broke the trace trying to replace the sticks.)

No luck, unfortunately. I haven't done a trace repair before, so I gave it a shot. But I'm afraid this is beyond my skillset, and I don't think I have the correct wires.

Are there any other methods or maybe a test I could solder this too?

After doing a good amount of soldering on Game Boys and other Nintendo gear, I finally built up the courage (and knowledge) to tackle the PicoFly mod on the Switch Lite. And I actually got it on the first try!

Well, almost... I originally bought this PicoFly back in 2024, opened up my Switch, and immediately got scared of how tiny everything was. But now, with more experience using leaded solder, I finally understand how much of a difference it makes! I'm really proud of this one, but what do the experts think? How does my solder work look?

Wii U games look surprisingly good on a CRT

I have a B&O 4200 and did some testing with my Wii U! I was really surprised by its quality. I really wished there was a sort of 4:3 hack.

Is this a reshell?

I ordered a GBA SP from Vinted. It is really in near-mint condition. But I'm not sure if this is a reshell. I compared it with an AliExpress silver shell and I'm pretty sure it's an original one!

Does someone think otherwise?
