Im writing this for people aspiring to migrate abroad based on real experience

Today i spoke to my grandfather's brother and it's the first time Im talking to him

He went to US in 90s and returned back permanently this year, his 60th birthday today but his children didn't attend even among relatives only my family attented

His children and grandchildren are american citizens more like native Americans they don't feel connected to roots here except occasional visits

Most of the relatives don't realise that this person's family exists because he too came here occasionally and didn't mingle here

he talks to and has lot of friends in US but don't feel like he is one among natives.

Yes he earned good money, successful corporate career, children settled got married to natives, got green card, but deep inside there is a void to return back to India someday because he says he can't become a native,

after their children moved to Bay area, NYC for job. He felt lonely for 10 years although has friends, did lot of charity. after lot of postponement he returned home permenently this year gave up green card

He feels belongingness here but lacks friends and family here, he wished he should be buried in his share of his father's land

Over time hapiness of NRIs turns grief with age

They feel connected neither to their children nor their roots here, but has a great life in 30s 40s age
