How do cats perceive humans?

My kitty Orange (yeah I’m not very creative)

Do cats know our face is our face? Our legs are our legs? our hands are our hands?

I know this probably sounds like a stupid question, but it crossed my mind while I was playing with Orange and mimicking a 4 legged animal scurrying around with my hand, and he was playing with my hand like it was real

Cats move touch and sense mostly with their face and mouth, so when they see us grabbing a bowl with our hands and placing it down towards them, what do they think is happening?

Also, I often read online that cats think we are just big cats, but I don’t think that’s true as all the cats I’ve had in my life have always exhibited noticeably different behavior to cats and humans.
So what do they think we are?

How are so many islamist extremists willing to die during their attacks?

Why are extremists so willing to throw their own lives away?
I’ve always wondered this. I’m thinking about attacks like people driving vehicles into crowds at Christmas markets, the Berlin attack, and other similar incidents.
What makes someone willing to do something that they know will almost certainly end with them being killed or spending the rest of their life in prison? Is it mainly religion, extremist indoctrination, culture, mental illness, or some combination of those?

ps2 suddenly can’t read disk anymore

I took out my old ps2 and booted it up for the first time since 2011.

To my surprise it could still read the disk of my favorite game Monster Mania.

I played a game with my sister, then we had to turn the game off to go do something.

Since it’s been a while I couldn’t remember how to turn the ps2 off, so I did the most idiotic thing: I opened the disk lid while the game was still running.

The game froze, so I disconnected everything and reconnected it.

Now the disk that could be read perfectly before doesn’t read, it says it’s impossible to read the disk.

Please help me fix my stupid error please tell me I can do something to fix this I was having so much fun playing my childhood game.

Older photos look better that new ones because we stopped using cameras and just use our phone.

I was looking through old family photos because I’m putting together a chronological slideshow for my granddad’s birthday, and was frustrated to notice that almost every photo taken before 2010 is incredibly sharp, while the ones taken after that are blurry, grainy, and have no depth.

Before there were cameras in the phones, people took cameras everywhere, and I think it was very worth it! The lens on the phone will never replace a camera in my opinion, even the photos taken by the newest iPhone 17 pro are beaten by photos taken with a camera.

Pokemon Scarlet Violet glazing player

I started playing pokemon scarlet and overall enjoying the game so far.

However I found one aspect humorous and strange

So in theory at the start of the story I’m just a 13 year old or something kid that just moved to paldea so I know nobody.

And in the span of one day everybody is obsessed with me and thinks I’m the only one able to win against all these gangs and dangerous pokemon? and all the npcs whisper “is that really them…? The super cool and awesome new student?”

What did I do to deserve this praise this early?? Do they know my team consists of a level 12 pawmi??

I feel like in older games you had to progress the story a bit more before before garnering this much respect.

also why don’t they ask Nemona to do all this stuff I’m doing?

is there any sense in training pokemon in this game?

Hello, this is my first time playing an open world style pokemon game and this new feature is troubling me as I am used to the old style of pokemon format where you have to progress the game to unlock new areas and new pokemon.

of course I’m not talking about IV, EV meta and battling other people, I’m only talking about playing solo and beating the game.

since with an openworld game I can go in an area, find a level 40 pokemon and use it against a level 30 gym leader and bulldoze their entire team despite the pokemon not listening to me half the time, is it worth it to spend hours grinding to get my level 20 pokemon to level 30?

this thought came to me after I took hours leveling up my pawmi to level 18 just to find and catch a level 26 pawmo in the next area…

At this point couldn’t you just travel to the points in the map where you know a the pokemon you want for your team spawn, catch them then boom your team is completed already?

Everyone in my family is an addict.

my mom sleeps, goes to work then scrolls Chinese romance drama episodes until she falls asleep.

My dad sleeps, goes to work then binge watches YouTube until he falls asleep.

My little sister is an iPad kid that was given unlimited access to screens since she was 2. She sleeps goes to school then places 2 screens in front of her. She will play Roblox with one screen while watching YouTube with the other, then she falls asleep.

Nobody does anything else.
There is no talking at the dinner table.
There is barely any talking in general.
if they are not at work/school you will 100% of the time find them in their designated doomscrolling spot on their bed in their own rooms, until they fall asleep.

How can I help my 13 year old sister stop pulling her hair?

I have a 13 year old sister I only see once or twice a month because I live far away for uni. Every time I come back I’m always taken aback by the growing bald spot she has on the top of her head. it’s noticeably larger every time I see her.

I am very tactful because I understand it’s an urge and almost subconscious, so I never berate or shame her about it. If I see her pulling I will gently take her hand and guide it to her knee to bring her awareness. She finds that very annoying but she knows I do it because I care and worry about her.

I heard almond acrylic nails make pulling difficult so I’m taking her tomorrow morning to the nail salon. It took a lot of convincing because she didn’t want them at first.

I bought her a bonnet and told her to wear it at home so that when she reaches for her head the bonnet stops her but she doesn’t use it because she says it’s uncomfortable.

I also advised her to start wearing more braids and ponytails so that it’s more difficult to access her hair but again she told me it’s annoying and uncomfortable to do that.

I’m frustrated because sometimes it seems like she is disinterested in fixing the issue, but I know it’s difficult so I don’t get mad.

Is there anything else I can do as a sister to help her?

She has really long hair. Would a shorter hairstyle like a bob calm the pulling urges? Or does hair length not change the intensity of the urge to pull?
