Anyone with hentai proxies, please explain it to me.

Like legit I am not having a dig at you or anything. And I get "nice tits" as a braindead horny ape but for real though why? You can't use them at LGS's. You can't use them at most discord things. Even if you are doing literally kitchen table most people generally don't like the gooner sex pest (But if you got that friend group and they are cool with that. Thats awesome more power to you!). But I seriously do not think the VAST majority of people buying them have that that opportunity for the kitchen table environment where they are suitable. Its also not like they will be visually recognizable across the table. So people are gonna be like "where the fuck is the elesh norn" only for you to flash them with a card? Do you guys swap them out of your decks before you go to the LGS just to put them back in when you get back home? Do you collect gooner proxies? I genuinely do not understand how this market is so large.

Ranger fighter help with feats?

New player here. I joined an existing group starting at level 5 (party's on level... something, I've lost track) with a character the DM threw together fast as a "noob's first fighter." I wanted generic archer, so: Wood Elf Fighter, archery focus.

Campaign context, which is probably relevant: we're running Dragonlance (DL1) but with modern (2024) rules layered on top of it in a kind of patchwork way — so like, no Origin Feats from backgrounds, but most other 2024 stuff is in play. Yes, it's confusing. No, I don't fully understand it either.

I've got a shortbow, longbow, and heavy crossbow available to me, but I've mostly been told "just use the shortbow." I want to actually use the crossbow for its bigger damage die instead.

So the obvious pick was Crossbow Expert. Then I realized I never actually took a level 4 feat at all — just missed it somehow. Looking at options, I looked at Sharpshooter next, but our DM basically never uses cover in combat, so the cover-ignoring part is dead weight for me. I've also got Steady Aim already covering some of what Sharpshooter would give me.

I looked into Great Weapon Master too but that's melee-only, so that's out.

So apart from Sharpshooter (mainly for the extra range, I guess?), is there anything else actually worth taking for a crossbow/bow character? Advantage is basically impossible to get consistently at our table — I've tried to force it multiple ways and it just doesn't come up — so something like Elven Accuracy seems pointless for me too.

Open to any suggestions, including stuff outside the "obvious archer feat" list.

Help with structural member, configurations and mates.

I will try make the info as fast as possible.

My company cad logic is "break everything down to the MOST SIMPLY PART then remake everything in an assembly". So I just want to sketch a line and then select structural member to get the correct profile for channel and I beam.

However this has made an issue. For some things I need a configuration of different lengths. If I smart dimension this one line sketch in one configuration why does it change everything in all configurations?

I got round this by making all the configurations then making new sketches for each one. And then add some holes in non mirrored spots titled one left right and ok its awkward as fuck but it work. Drag it into an assembly. why do I now have 12 profiles? The should be 6 but the is a "as weldment" profile and "as machined" profile for each part. Whatever i selected one and begin mating. Now when I select any of the others all the mates breaks and thus the configurations are pointless.

Please help me. We can have different configurations of parts. but they will not allow 2 welded bits of steel to be its own part it MUST be an assembly. IDK why and every time I asked its basically just a "ITS THE SYSTEM!".

Correct line for arrow side welding symbol?

I started at a new company and legit feel like I am losing my fucking mind. Its an old as fuck company with 1 other drawing person and we disagree on the welding line and its doing my head in. The system apparently has iso standards for everything except welding.

Does anyone have the page of for iso standards relating to which line relates to the arrow?

Image for clarity.

Ok additional context: we are English not American.

How to make gussets and end caps appear in bill of materials?

Question pretty much.

For welded steel assemblies. I can see in cut list it makes two additional folders and in the table the parts qualities are listed but nothing else no name no text no context. Ect.

Is this normal workflow for solidworks?

Hello I got a new job with 0 experience in solidworks (yay me).

(need to add this apparently. The workflow I am being taught to do.)

But the workflow seems... barbaric? Moronic? So the way their system works is if you need some channel you go into sketch.

Make your cross section. Extrude it to length.

Name it A1-74584570 in 7 different databases that dont link together so the is like 70000 parts.

Do this for every single part. So A1-74584571, A1-74584572, A1-74584573, A1-74584574.

Then import all these hand sketch, extruded lenghts of steel into assembly and join them together using mate.

This will then be an assembly for a single welded part of a larger complete project. So you do the paperwork and save it as something weird (I think pack and go? Not sure).

Then you import your 20 assemblies and put them together in one freak assembly.

Is this honestly how you people work?

And I feel like i need to be clear. The is no end cap thing used. They go in sketch, draw a rectangle, extrude it 3 mm. Save it. Import that bit to assembly. Mate it.

Same with flanges. Sketch a triangle. Extrude it. Save it. Import it into assembly.

How do you guys actually get into the roleplay mindset?

I have started with a mate with a really cool group of guys at a social club (we didn't know the social club guys we just turned up and asked to join to their reluctance they accepted us which is cool but we were told it made the group large going from 4 to 6). They are really cool but its clear we are not the most familiar with role plays. When I first started i was thinking more grid pc combat sort of games or witcher/skyrim sort of vibe.

I am enjoying being there but I clearly bring the game to a stop when i try do something and most the time the group pulls us back as a "nah you don't" and i have been told the dm kind of only does group things he doesnt really want you splitting up.

As like for context I am playing a generic elven guide archer fighter thing. When we got dropped off by some flying horses its like "introduce yourself" and me and my friend clearly fucking bluescreened. Until the DM was like "ALLRIGHT LETS MOVE ON LETS NOT DO 3 HOURS OF ASKING FOR THEIR MAIDEN NAME!".

We had to sneak past some guards of an army and we got semi split as the mage wanted to pretend to be from the army and two of us stayed back to be supporting fire. This created an awkward skip where realistically they should of carried on and then it be a weird 2 vs 10 encounter. So they kind of just went "yeah ok we attack from behind".

I decided to try use my "survivor skills" to scout ahead later and came to some ruins with a split. The dm clearly was like "left or right" but I didnt know if I would derail so I went back to the group.

Then the group came and choose left and the was some sort of dwaft with a big sack of gold but was stupid and wanted coin for a guide. From the hastily made character sheet I had 10. But high sight of hand. So I thought maybe this was a duck comes bearing green onions sort of thing. So i tried to pick pocket him and the other player just goes "yeah my character stops you".

You know the worst thing about being a forever alone man?

It’s the fact you are constantly expected to make an effort. And if eventually the insanity of doing the same thing over and over and over again breaks you then you are classed as the failure.

I am not saying “women have life easier” but I can’t imagine how being able to take a passive seat would make it harder.

That’s the real issue is if one day if you as a man just give up approaching. That’s it. You are done. The chance becomes 0 because you are meant to have agency. If you are the normal lower 90% of men no women is ever gonna come up to you and have agency. Why would they?

Maybe some forever alone women could inform me if I am wrong. But most of the posts I have read from forever alone women is “I am only wanted for sex” which I can understand is shitty. It’s an extremely shallow dehumanising form of connection. But it at least is a form of connection and feels better than nothing. If I was rich I would understand the only reason someone has interest in me is wealth but at least that makes sense and is better than no one having interest.

Sorry if this came off women hate. It’s more hate at social expectations of agency in society.

Character help for first one shot which could transition into campaine?

So on Sunday we are doing a one shot. If everything goes good and people don't hate it we are doing campaign.

I don't really have a clue so here is the rough guide. We rolled for stats. And am starting level 5.

I am playing a nobel, fire goliath, fey-touched, warcaster, artificer, armorer.

My main gimmick thinking is just "get big" the dreadnaught armour allows it, the class allows it and he can use the spell enlarge.

I was asked what armour I want to start with and it seems like plate is the obvious answer but it costs the most gold? Do you normally stick in a limit or what?

How does crafting stuff actually work? Seems confusing as hell.

Spells and cantrips took ages

But I think the cantrips of interest are firebolt, guidance and mending.

Level 1 spells its faerie fire, greases and detecg magic.

Level 2 is Web, heat metal, enlarge, arcane vigor.

And then I get magic missile, thunderwave, mirror image, shatter from the class.

This seems like its quite confusing?

Me learning solidworks for a new job as a self taught fusion 360 boy

Why do you guys use this? What's good about it? Its so awkward and clunky. Is it just grandfathered in?

u/MurphysLawTeam — 3 months ago

Fastest way to learn solid works I have a month. Please help me I am dying inside.

Ok so I went to this job that said “any cad experience welcome” so I was like “omg I can draw lines on fusion 360 I should apply” and OMFG ITS INDUSTRIAL LIFTING EQUIPMENT THE INTERVIEW LASTED 2 HOURS AND THEY ASKED ME ABOUT SYMBOLS I DONT KNOW AND CALCULATING A FUCK TON OF FORCES. I HAVE AN ARTS DEGREE THIS IS SO NOT MY AREA I THOUGHT I WOULD BE MAKING PRETTY LASER CUT TRINKETS!

Somehow they called me back and legit we did 8 emails back and fourth like “your clearly need someone more experienced then me” “We wanna hire you :D” “I DONT KNOW THE JOB AT ALL” and I copy and pasted this one “Thank you for your honesty, it is a refreshing quality to come across these days, when so many people pretend to be something they are not. We would still like to hire you!”

And I am too autistic to refuse so now I got a month to learn solid works and strength calculations and loads of symbols and doing simulations to make lifting equipment for industrials environments. And I am having so many panic attacks at the same time. This is not a joke I legit don’t even know the solidworks icon I just know it costs fucking bank.

Kumiko Panel V2 Wip (My hands have died from filing if anyone has recommendations for filing tight fit groves let me know)

Just thought I would share this with you guys before it gets thrown in the "I will totally finish this project one day" box. The idea of making those 60 tiny parts is killing me inside. I think this is a cool project, doing traditional wood joinery with steel, but man, it is a lot of effort. The angels on the end are not too hard as you can linish most of them away, but these internal groves are only really doable with a with a 6 inch file. 12-inch ones are too thick. I know no one will but I added the drawings just in case some weirdo out there would like to have a go.

Sorry its not hot blacksmithing but I am sure old blacksmiths spent longer with a file than they would like to admit and its in the spirit of making things with metal.

(I am also trying to move out of fabrication into CAD stuff for a paycheck, as my back hurts, so if anyone has advice on that, throw it here, please)

Did caring at some point for anyone just stop?

Let me start with the obvious: I’m a 29-year-old autistic virgin.

Sit with that for a second. More than ten years past the legal age and still nothing.

It was awkward until I was about 22. By 26 it had become a straight-up fucking embarrassment. Now? I genuinely don’t give a shit anymore.

It’s just done. I’m set in my ways. I tried all the usual advice and it didn’t work for me. There’s no shame left either, just a quiet “yep, women don’t want me.”

I’m not saying this as some “women are bad” thing. Fuck no. Most rejections I’ve gotten were civil. I know there are trends in what a lot of women tend to like, but I also know there are women who go for softer guys, bigger guys, smaller guys, rich guys. Hell, some women want to be the sugar momma. So when nothing has ever clicked after years of trying, the only conclusion I can reach is that I’m just not someone people want in that way. I’m an unlovable fuck-up on that front. And… I’m okay with it. It’s just how it is. Accept it and move on.

I don’t even want to lose my virginity or find a partner anymore. Not in some angry “screw all of you” way. I just can’t picture anyone ever feeling comfortable around me. Plus my sex drive is completely gone. I genuinely can’t remember the last time I jerked off. Sorry if that’s too much information, but it really feels like a switch flipped one day and said “yeah, we’re shutting this down.”

People like the first kumiko thing so here is my other kumiko thing.

People enjoy my first little kumiko project so here is my bigger one. Still based on the kumiko asanoha pattern. The piece shows it pattern through 6 rotations on 14 different axises. It is 50cm any point to any point. Each "bud" is made from 7 stands of 10mm hex bar, bent and forge welded together and then cleaned up with a file (i use a lot of files). The end were died and the core was made from 52mm steel I marked with shapie cut a good chunk off with an angel grind and flap disk and then filed... (yay files), and then tapped and screwed together.

It weights 54 kg. The final image shows it on a 60 kg anvil.

I wanted to try kumiko. Unfortunately, I'm a blacksmith.

I wanted to try kumiko.

Unfortunately, I only had access to ironwood.

Every groove was hand-filed. No welds, no brazing, no glue. Just friction fit, stubbornness, and increasingly poor decision-making.

I originally posted it in a woodworking subreddit because this was meant as appreciation for the craft.

They have since informed me that steel is not wood.

Which, annoyingly, is a strong argument.

u/MurphysLawTeam — 4 months ago

Turns out there's a reason they make these from wood

I went down a kumiko rabbit hole and thought it would be interesting to see if the geometry could be recreated in steel.

Every groove was hand-filed, and the entire piece is friction fit. No welds, no brazing, no glue.

I posted it to a woodworking subreddit first and was swiftly informed that steel is not, in fact, wood.

Fair enough.

I now have a newfound respect for woodworkers, a newfound hatred for files, and a much better understanding of why these are normally made from timber.
