Disappointed there's no mounted commissar

Just finished reading Death Rider (great book which I highly recommend!) and disappointed to see that a mounted commissar isn't even a current option. Is there any rumouring or speculation that GW might bring this back from legends?

Which minor characters are worth taking?

I'm starting a small feudal guard force, currently going to 500 points and then to 1000. We have lots of minor characters available that can attach to cadian shock troops - primaris psykers, commisars, ministorum priests, techpriests. Which of these are worth taking (if any)?

Mechanic/Auto Sparky for Hybrid Toyota

Hi all, I have a toyota fielder hybrid that has a hybrid system issue. Can anyone recommend a mechanic/auto electrician who is experienced with these and won't rip me off? Thanks

Painting Tutorial: Colour Shift Armour

I’ve had several redditors ask for my colour shift Alpha Legionnaire recipe, so thought I’d post a short tutorial. I don’t consider myself a great painter, but this scheme is simple enough and looks good en masse on the tabletop.

Colours used: Abaddon Black (base), Phoenician Purple, Sotek Green, Sybarite Green, Gauss Blaster Green

Image 2: Paint the armour panel Phoenician Purple. Use multiple thin coats to ensure a smooth even coverage, as we’re doing several coats/colours we need to keep the coats thin so as to not build up unwanted texture.

Before the next step we need to decide where our light source is coming from. I recommend not having this come from directly overhead – on my legionnaires I have the light source coming from high over the left shoulder. This means that the right side of the miniature will have more shadow, which results in a more interesting paint finish.

Image 3: Paint Sotek Green onto the armour panels, leaving the purple showing around the edges and in recesses. The Sotek Green coverage should be more complete on the panels facing the light source, while panels away from the light source should have more of the purple base exposed. Use several thin coats to get good coverage of the green and try to feather the edges where the green meets the purple, this will make the two colours blend more readily.

Image 4: Make a glaze of Phoenician Purple (if you haven’t glazed before, watch some YouTube videos – it seems daunting but isn’t too hard and is a great skill to have). Glaze with brush starting in the Sotek Green and ending in the Phoenician Purple, otherwise you’ll end up with small pools of the purple in the Sotek Green. Continue this step until you’re happy – the more layers you glaze the better the transition will look. If you’re unhappy with the margins or feel that you’ve desaturated the Sotek Green too much you can just go back a step and paint more in.

Image 5: Place your Sybarite Green highlights. I do this sparingly, using this colour as an extreme highlight. Feel free to experiment and do larger highlights if you prefer this look.

Image 6: Repeat the glazing step, but this time using a Sotek Green glaze. Glaze with brush starting in the Sybarite Green and ending in the Sotek Green. You can glaze in the opposite direction too, making a Sybarite Green glaze and glazing from the Sotek Green into the Sybarite Green.

Image 7: Final highlighs – Edge highlight the Phoenician Purple edges with Sotek Green, the Sotek Green edges that’d catch light with Sybarite Green, and the Sybarite Green edges and highlights with Gauss Blaster Green. You can carefully glaze between the Sybarite and Gauss Blaster on the pauldron and helmet to improve the transition, but because it’s so small an area it isn’t imperative.

How to make Storm of Celestus a full warband?

My son and I are new to the game and are building our first teams with what we have - I have Storm of Celestus from the WU starter set (Castigator Prime, 2x Castigators and a gryph-hound), my son so far has five clanrats from the paint set.

What is the easiest way to flesh out these four to a full team? Warcrying has a few options but I can't seem to find them for sale on the Warhammer site, or they require buying a full box.

Investing on the behalf of kids

My kids each have about $2k in their bank accounts, mostly from us forcibly banking a good amount of their Christmas/birthday money. It sits there accruing an essentially negligible amount of interest.

I see that Sharesies have kids accounts, and I wonder if it is prudent to put my kids money in one - I feel anxious about this, because investing money on someone else's behalf comes with added responsibility compared with investing your own.

Should I put my kids savings in a S&P 500 type managed index thing instead of just leaving it in the bank? For what it's worth I'm a novice at this, have never had spare money of my own to invest.

First time using Allen Bradley PLC

I have exclusively worked with Schneider and Crouzet smart relays and PLC's and HMI's up until now. I have a client who has an AB 2080-LC50-24QWB PLC attached to an AB Panelview 800 HMI. It looks like I can use standard USB-A and USB-B cables to connect to my laptop so won't need proprietary cables? The other question is what software do I need, I'm getting conflicting info online but it looks like the program I need to work with both is CCW?

Another Human Operative

My small AL force is slowly growing, unfortunately I paint very slow! Legs, arms and head are Solar Auxilia, Skitarii torso, cloak and backpack, Astartes scout shotgun.

I have the starter set from 2021 that has Drepur's Wraithcreepers and Storm of Celestus warbands in it. I understand that this is a stripped-down rule set that has no magic etc.

If I want to start playing the proper/full game of UW does anything from this box actually carry over? I assume the decks don't. How do I get into the full game, do I have to buy one of the full boxes like Emberguard?

Picked up Alpharius from a crate, but struggling to get even close to trigger his 16E card. Any tips? I have Hydran Exemplar and 2x 25-2 Rhino to generate traps, but it still hasn't worked for me.

As per title - I'm wanting to involve my kids more as they're showing interest, specifically M10.

I haven't played 40K since 4th edition, and haven't played any other game. I only model/paint currently, any have the following (or am building the following):

- Warhammer Underworlds 1st Edition Starter Set

- Several 40K killteams, which I could build up to combat patrol

- 1x AOS spearhead

There's a ton of games out there - 40K, AOS, Killteam, WarCry, Underworlds, Spearhead, Combat Patrol, Darktide, Quest, Blackstone Fortress, INQ etc, just not sure if any one is easier to understand than others? Length of game is probably also a factor (more concise being easier to hold a kid's attention).

I'm a 35M INFP, feel like I'm flailing about in life - I own a house, married with kids, but I feel nothing inside. Devoid of passion, no aspirations. I've never been one to set goals, and when I do I generally don't stick to them. When I think back on my life, almost every big decision e.g. vocation has just been something I've "fallen" into, not something I was passionate about or sought out.

Even the hobbies I enjoy feel hollow, and if I was never able to do them again I'd feel indifferent about that. Anyone here able to relate or give any advice? Specifically regarding goals, purpose, passion?
