DAE not relate to people treating you differently at first?
Hello,
A lot of posts describe people looking at you differently in public spaces or treating you differently when you first meet them. I've never had this issue at all... in fact, it's usually after people get to know me they think something is off. I've even shared my diagnosis with friends and they laughed, basically saying no way I have autism I'm just introverted. I've gotten better at maintaining good relations, basically just not talking constantly about special interests, asking too many questions, and smiling more.
I think if people treat you differently at first, it's usually due to your appearance. I've always worked out and dressed decently, so this may have helped. But it's not like most NTs have a magical autism radar, so I don't think you can blame autism if people look at you in public.

Not sure if I have narcissistic traits or actual NPD?
Hello,
So I've been formally diagnosed with ADHD and ASD (high-functioning), but over time, some people have called out my behaviors for being narcissistic or selfish. I never thought I was a narcissist because I don't try to manipulate people, but after reading more about it, I think I at least have some narcissistic traits.
I used to always compare people to me and would essentially rank them as above or below me in value based on success, looks, or social status. I deliberately sought out to befriend people of higher status to make myself feel better, but I never tried to manipulate them. I would hang out with some people who, in my brain at the time, were of equal or lower status than me too if I liked their company or connected with them.
However, I didn't care that much about them, just essentially what they could provide me with. I still treated them well and never wanted to harm them, but sometimes I felt jealous or envious. This was also the same with dating; I basically just wanted the sex and validation and didn't really care that much about the women.
One reason I didn't consider narcissism is that I never tried to control the women I dated. If anything, I was on the opposite end, and once I had supply didn't give a flying fuck what they did. I never went out of my way to make them feel special, but I also wasn't mean or anything.
Over time, I realized that these thoughts were harmful, so I have worked on changing them. For example, I now try not to 'rank' people and instead think everyone is a subject with interesting and unique attributes rather than an object with value. It has definitely helped, and I find myself more social now although I'm still an introvert.
I also was preoccupied with my appearance in an unhealthy way. Not because I wanted to be 'better' than people, but just because I had a very negative inner voice and always felt unattractive. I don't get called out for being selfish or narcissistic anymore because I have changed those behaviors, but the deep-seated beliefs have continued to remain. I've been watching a lot of the Heal NPD videos, which made me realize I was just an insecure person trying to fill a black hole.

Requested a data freeze from Truework but they said I have no file?
Hello,
When I first started OE, I immediately froze my TWN and later on requested data freezes from Truework and LexisNexis as well. The day after the request, I received an email from Truework saying there are no records in their system under my name.
It seems weird they have no file under my name, as I'm over 40 and have a pretty extensive employment history. I figured they would have at least a couple of jobs in my records.
Has anyone else received a similar response from them? I'm wondering if I should give them a call to verify that there is no file.
Thanks!
Why do NTs care so much about meaning or passion in their jobs?
I see work as a means to an end, I do my job for money, so that I have a decent lifestyle. All I care about are having good pay and not too many hours. I do not give one flying fuck about how competent my manager is or if I'm recognized at my job.
Do you think most NTs are faking how much they care, or do they ACTUALLY care?
Anyone else called out for mansplaining?
Several years ago, at a prior job, my manager called me and let me know one of the higher ups told her I was mansplaining. I honestly didn't know what it meant, but she said I was over explaining things that come off as condescending.
I like to provide background on things before I dive into the details, and I had no idea I was doing this. After this conversation, I started just going into the details right away, and she said the higher up lady appreciated this.
Was wondering if anyone else has been criticized on this before?
Would you resign from a non OE friendly J or ride out the paychecks until fired?
Both of my Js are OE friendly so I don't have this issue, but I thought about this when I was initially taking on a J2. I've seen several posts from people who have resigned rather than ride out the job with a difficult micromanager. I prefer to think I would not give a flying fuck and just ride it out, but I haven't been in that situation so it's hard to say.
In my opinion, the only reason NOT to ride it out is if you work in a small industry and it could impact your reputation. However, if you just decline all meetings and do the bare minimum, the worst that can happen is they fire you, which doesn't matter if you're planning to quit anyway.
I've also seen some posts where people just quit logging on, which doesn't make sense to me. Why not log on and do a little bit of work plus send a few emails? If they want to pip you, it takes time to go through HR to get approval, plus the pip usually lasts a month or two.
Best time of day to take ACD856?
Hello,
I just received the liquid drops of 10mg ACD856 and was wondering about the best time of day to take it. I bought it primarily for the anti anxiety benefits but read that it can cause lethargy. Because of this, I was thinking of taking it before I sleep rather than in the morning. Let me know your experiences and when you suggest I take it.
Thanks
Do most of you utilize workflow tools and macros to streamline your J's?
Hello,
My J's aren't coding related per se but I still use some coding for creating Power BI / Tableau Dashboards, Excel reports, etc. Before I joined my J1, I had never heard of Alteryx or really any workflow creation tools. After getting familiar with Alteryx, I also incorporated Excel VBA Macros and was able to streamline most of the work.
In my current J2, I was able to condense an entire week's worth of tasks down to a couple of hours at most. It's crazy that these companies have Alteryx and other tools, but nobody really thinks to try and use them, even with all the free info available online. I think back in previous positions and how much time I wasted creating the same reports over and over, when I could have just built a macro and been done with it.
It seems that the main requirements for a J to be OE compatible is a high degree of autonomy and a low amount of meetings, as most other tasks can be automated pretty easily.

Are IC roles safer in the long run?
I know with any position there is the possibility of getting laid off, fired, etc. However, I keep seeing posts about people in management positions losing their jobs because of corporate restructuring or having their positions eliminated. A lot of these roles pay extremely well, and there aren't that many of them out there. So if you need to find another job, it's very difficult to find the same position at another company with the same pay.
From my personal experience, companies generally keep the ICs because they do all of the actual work, or if the department is closed, they will just move them to a different group. This is especially true if you work in finance or accounting, as each department has these types of roles. Also, if a company is trying to save money, reducing the higher pay positions is the most logical option.
What are everyone's thoughts on this? I am curious if my experience matches what everyone else has seen...
Credit Score decreased after paying auto loan?
Hello,
I paid the remaining balance on my auto loan and my CS decreased by 26 points, is that normal?
Meet Koko! My first kitten!
We finally got her today! Our previous void Cola was around 12, but her health deteriorated rapidly this year, and we had to put her down. Koko was in foster, and we went to meet her on Saturday. When she jumped on my shoulders and started crawling on my back, I knew I had to make her mine!
Question on possible delusions of family member...
Hello,
I have Schizoid PD, and I believe my mom has schizophrenia. I was wondering if the following example is a symptom of it.
Apparently, she was looking up a relative online, and she mentioned they have a drug problem because they were arrested for methamphetamine distribution before. However, when I looked them up, there was one incident from 20 years ago related to public intoxication.
This person has never had a drug problem and is quite wealthy. There is zero evidence of this, and when I confronted her, she said she knew she saw it but couldn't find it now.
Is this an example of a delusion?
She could have just been lying, but it was too specific to just come out of nowhere.
Thanks!
Do I need to retune DSP after installing Helix USB Interface?
I previously connected via head unit to the Helix DSP, just had the USB interface installed, and it sounds harsh and too bright. Also, the sound stage is pulled forward, and I can't really hear the rear fill. Is this normal?
DAE wish they could be a jellyfish?
I feel like I was not supposed to be a human. I want to just float around all day with no thoughts or responsibilities. Having to be a human is just constantly a pain in the ass.
Need Opinions on my Cat's X-rays
Hello,
My cat has recently been having breathing issues and the vet told us there was fluid in her chest area. However, we had her get X-rays and apparently they showed no excess fluid but three tumors. The vet said the tumors could be benign or cancerous, but they would still grow and cause health problems for her even if they are benign. Can anyone please confirm if she does have tumors or tissue growth in her chest area? I have added a link below to images of her x-rays. Thanks!
Why would a high level manager want to meet up with an IC?
So I'm an IC and got an above expectations rating last year. My direct boss just left the company, and his boss is temporarily the team manager. We recently had a team call with him, and he singled me out as a fast learner even with no prior industry experience and said I consistently add value. I work remotely, and he recently messaged me on Teams, saying he will be in my city and wants to grab lunch or dinner. What do you think he wants? I've never had this type of request from a high-level person before, so I'm kind of nervous.
