Where are all the climate activists?

Spain and France are dealing with devastating wildfires, and now England is facing an enormous drought. As of August 10, nearly 71% of England is officially in drought, with millions of people affected by water restrictions.

If there was ever a time for Sunrise Movement, Just Stop Oil, Extinction Rebellion and other climate groups to be making noise, surely this is it.

I remember when climate protests were everywhere. Roads were being blocked, politicians were being confronted, museums were being targeted and climate change was constantly in the news. But now, with extreme heat, drought and wildfires happening across Europe, it feels strangely quiet.

And at the same time, we're having another argument in the UK about North Sea oil and gas. The government is facing pressure over projects such as Rosebank and Jackdaw, despite the fact that new North Sea production isn't going to magically make people's energy bills cheaper.

I'm not saying protests have to block roads or throw soup at paintings. But surely this is exactly the moment for a huge public campaign demanding action on drought, water security, renewable energy, home insulation and getting away from fossil fuels.

England is literally experiencing a major drought while Europe is burning.

If this isn't the moment for the climate movement to mobilise, then when is?

Almost fell for a fake Google support scam

**PSA: Convincing "Ticket Escalation Notice" email followed by a phone call.**

I wanted to share this in case anyone else has experienced something similar.

I received an email with the subject **"Ticket Escalation Notice"**, even though I had never submitted a support ticket.

It claimed someone would contact me regarding a security issue and asked me to verify the caller before sharing sensitive information.

A short while later, I received a phone call from someone claiming to be from Google.

The caller said my email account had been compromised and that someone in Miami was trying to access it. They sounded professional and tried to create a sense of urgency.

Something didn't feel right, so while I was still on the call I searched online and realised the email wasn't from an official Google support address.

I hung up immediately.

I'm posting this as a warning because the email and phone call together made the scam seem much more convincing than a typical phishing attempt.

Has anyone else received a fake "Ticket Escalation Notice" email followed by a call from someone claiming to be Google support? If so, what happened?

Man United vs Arsenal was the peak Premier League rivalry and nothing has come close since

The Manchester United vs Arsenal rivalry (late 90s–early 2000s) is still unmatched in the Premier League era. It had title battles, genuine hostility, and iconic moments every time they met. City vs Liverpool is great football-wise, but it doesn’t come close in terms of tension, hatred, and iconic moments.

Bumble's Travel Mode is becoming really frustrating

Does anyone else find Bumble’s Travel Mode frustrating?

I get why it exists; if you’re travelling somewhere soon and want to meet people before you arrive, that makes sense.

But lately, a huge number of my matches have been women using Travel Mode from countries in Africa, Asia, and sometimes the US. The annoying part is that Travel Mode often isn't obvious; you have to scroll all the way down someone's profile to see they're not actually nearby.

I'm not judging anyone for using the feature, but personally I'm not looking for a long-distance relationship. I'd rather connect with someone I can realistically meet in person, or someone who already has concrete plans to move to the UK or Europe.

Sometimes it feels like I'm matching with people who are thousands of miles away without realising it until after we've matched. I wish Bumble made Travel Mode much more visible before you swipe, or even gave users the option to filter it out entirely.

Am I the only one who's getting this?

Am I being selfish for not wanting my brother to move in with me?

I was offered a small 2-bedroom house in London by my dad, and I've been looking for a housemate for the past month. I already showed one person around and have another viewing scheduled for next week.

A couple of weeks ago, my dad informed me that my younger brother had to move out because the landlord wants to sell the house. He asked if I would let my brother move in with me, but I said no. When we lived together previously, it was quite challenging. He would cook at odd hours, leave dishes for a long time, and whenever our parents were away, it felt like I was walking on eggshells around him.

My dad accepted my decision and I continued looking for housemates. However, today, just as I was about to tell him that the local council had contacted me about a potential tenant interested in the room, he told me he wants to see if my younger brother wants to move in with me since I “still haven’t found a housemate.”

This shocked me because I had already made it clear that I don't want to live with my brother. My dad kept emphasising, “You haven’t found anyone yet,” and I reminded him that he originally gave me until the end of the month. He also mentioned my brother possibly becoming homeless, but I pointed out that under UK law, the landlord must give him notice, and it hasn’t even been a month yet.

What frustrates me is that I've actually had dozens of people message me about the room, but friends and friends of friends are not interested because the area isn’t considered one of the best parts of London and has a somewhat negative reputation.

Part of the reason I agreed to take the house was because it felt like a chance to finally have my own space, maybe meet someone in the future, and build my own life. London is expensive, so it seemed like a smart financial opportunity. However, moving from living with my parents straight into sharing a place with my brother is something I genuinely do not want.

Now, I’m even questioning whether I should take the house at all. I’ve considered staying at home, moving somewhere else in Europe to work as an English teaching assistant again (which I’ve done before), or looking for jobs outside London since work in my field seems easier to find elsewhere.

I also worry that my dad is trying to shift the responsibility for my brother onto me. If my brother can’t find somewhere to live, he’ll probably have to move back in with my parents and my other brother. During my run earlier, I realised I really don’t want people to think this is my decision or my fault if my brother ends up without a place. I was told I had until the end of the month to find a housemate, and now it feels like the goalposts are moving.

Am I being unreasonable for not wanting to live with my brother?
