Is it a waste of time to get a WHV for only 6-7 months?

Hi,

My life is going nowhere and I'm already 32. I'm currently in a training program to become a whale watching guide, but if I can't get a job after that, I'm just thinking of getting a Working Holiday Visa for New-Zealand or Australia.

I always dreamed of travelling to NZ or Australia for months, but at that point in my life, I guess it will not be possible as I'm also looking to go back to university at the end of 2027 if I have enough fund (I want to study in the UK, but it's super expensive if you are international student).

So, is it logical to get a WHV and try to find work in a hostel between January and July and then travel around for a month before returning back home and planning my return to university?

Did any of you did something similar and could give advice?

Thank you.

What's needed to be able to welcome tourists aboard?

Hi,

I'm far from being a sailor. Anyway, I will get my RYA Competent Crew this fall and thinking about getting my STCW Basic Safety Training too soon after.

Looking forward, in the next years, I may be tempted to own a sailboat and maybe organize some whale watching or citizen science tours. It's far from being done since I live way too far from the sea right now. But it's just an idea that came to me and I would like to know what would be required?

I believe you need to be a captain to be able to commercially sail right? Or hire a captain?

How do you become a captain?

Finally, I saw some companies asking for STCW Crowd & Crisis Management certification. I didn't find this course in the maritime school that offer the Basic Safety training. Is an online course legitimate?

Thank you!

My resume is working against me. How do I reset everything?

Hi,

I truly think I have an experience problem preventing me to get a job in my studied field.

I have too much unrelated work experience and I'm sure employers just see that and move on.

I looked at what some people have written on LinkedIn about their experience and the people who succeed (some of my friends), they have 90% related work experience.

But me, I wanted to go into digital media, but most of my work experience is retail, mailroom or customer service. And I did try to get a digital media job for years, even took some additional courses, but it just didn't work.

Now, I want to change field, return to university and I'm scared to have the same issue.

Can I just delete all my experience and start from scratch?

What can I do to be able to get a job in the field I want?

Thank you!

Is it possible to reset a resume/cv?

Hi,

is it possible to start everything from scratch?

My CV is working against me. Unfortunately, I only have 80% experience in customer service and only 20% quite old experience in my study field.

So, it’s impossible to really get a real professional job.

I want to go back to university, but I’m scared that my recent work experience will block me again in the future. I want to start with a blank page.

Thank you

Hi,

I bought these boots Dakota WorkPro Series Men's Steel Toe Composite Plate Quad Comfort FRESHTECH 6 Inch Work Boots | L’Équipeur and it felt good in the store when I tried them. But after standing up and walking around in the warehouse for 3 days, my feet hurt.

I wonder if buying a cushioned sole could help, or if I should return them and buy something else.

I can normally walk all day in my regular shoes or am barefoot at home. But I don't know why my boots, despite being the right size, get so painful under the feet. It's like walking on a very very hard surface.

Maybe I should just look at something else and return them after cleaning up a bit of the outersole.

Bonjour,

Merci

Hi,

I would love to see reviews about this program?

I am interested into Marine Conservation, but I'm a bit scared it's too focused on Blue Economy (sustainable businesses?). I would love some field work. Other than going into Biology, there aren't any undergrad European programs about Marine Conservation.

Thank you!

I'm 32 and completely lost.

I met some people (IRL) who just get it from the start. They love something, focus on it, achieve what they want, build business or work in the field they want and enjoying life.

For me, I tried to get into my passion field and failed. So, I went to another field but never found work. After years of trying, I'm now unemployed and still live with my parents. Some time, I just feel like maybe I missed something when I grew up.

I'm living on hardcore mode without any tutorial and inverted controller. I've never had true guidance other than go to school, find a job related to your field, and everything will work. ---> Surprise! It didn't work.

Right now, I'm thinking about what to do next year. I would like to return to university, but it's so hard to find the right program. I would love to go back to my first choice in life, but I'm scared to waste my money and time. It's a big 3–5-year commitment, studying something that I have no idea what kind of job I would like to do. And finishing in my late 30, almost 40, feel strange. Starting your life at this age, when you see people in their early 20's managing business or doing more than 100k a year (the max I did in a year is barely 40k). People retire at 60, I feel like I will never retire and work all my life.

I'm thinking that maybe you find your career path while studying. You find affinity with some courses, find internships and everything comes together like a puzzle. But at the same time, everyone is telling me that it's saturated, there are no jobs, etc.

...

So, I'm completely stuck. I want to stop being stagnant in life, finally do something I enjoy doing, but society these days require you to be rich and stable, or you just work as a slave to survive.

I'm so tired.

Thank you for reading.

Hi,

I’m currently looking into going back to school after graduating years ago in a program that didn’t end up being the right fit for me. One program I’m considering is in the UK, and it looks very interesting, but I’d love to hear from other Canadians who have studied there.

How did you manage the tuition fees as an international student?
Is there any financial help available because we’re part of the Commonwealth, or does that not matter and we still have to pay full international fees?

Thank you.

Hi,

this is really bugging me as I try to take care of my red footed tortoises the best I can. One of my tortoise is smaller with a bit of pyramiding and my other tortoise is old, probably between 60-75 years old.

I’m trying to get humidity right, but during winter it’s a bit harder. However, my oldest tortoise is loosing her color. It’s kind of stable since last year, but still dry. I went to the vet earlier this year and other than dewormer, my tortoises are healthy.

I have no idea what to do because there are no shell moisturizer I can put since it cut UV absorption.

They are outside more often during summer, but I‘m not living in a rainforest.

Any ideas? Maybe my tortoise is just old?

Thank you very much 🐢

Hi,

I'm a solo entrepreneur looking to launch my online business later this year.

Other than registering my company, what should I look for?

Do I need a personal lawyer or some sort of legal professional?

I'm mostly building it with my own money and paying a freelancer to help me. I had the idea of writing a privacy policy and refund policy, if it can help somehow.

I just have no idea.

Thank you very much.
