Widebody Perfection

We spoke to b00st_wayne, the owner of this 2010 Camaro SS that's been built from the ground up. He's put serious thought into every detail, from wheel fitment to the finishing touches most people walk right past. We asked him how the build came together and what he'd do differently if he started over.

1. What was the first mod you made after buying it?
The first mod I got after buying the Camaro was the havoc rear diffuser. It’s still one of my favorite pieces on the car and makes the rear end look so aggressive. Also plastidipped all the chrome to black because it was an eyesore that had to be dealt with immediately, lol.

2. How much work went into getting the wheel and tire fitment dialed in?
Getting the wheel and tire fitment dialed in was a process. I was the first Camaro with this widebody kit in the U.S.A. so the manufacturer didn’t have wheel specs readily available. I had to send measurements from the wheel hub and widebody kit to Vorsteiner and they were able to get the offset dialed in. My pops got the widebody kit fitment locked in perfectly, we also had to sand the inner lip of the widebody kit to be able to fit the meaty Nittos when aired out.

3. What's your favorite visual detail that most people overlook?
A small detail that I love about the Camaro is the lower grill removal. Although it’s simple, it made the front end look very aggressive and shows off the beautiful Vortech intercooler.

4. If you could start the build over, what would you do differently?
Honestly I love the look of the car, it’s been a long build (bought car stock in 2012) which has allowed me to take my time with the build and piece together my favorite Camaro pieces to build a 1 of 1 Camaro. BUT, if I had to choose something, I would probably go with a wheel color change to a polished chrome (which I still might do 👀).

5. What’s your favorite memory you have associated with this car?
My favorite memory with the Camaro is all of the drives to clear the mind and car shows with the fam. Priceless.

One look and you're back in the '80s

We spoke with 89_screampuff_5.0, the owner of this 1989 Ford Mustang Hatchback 5.0 that's anything but stock. He's a fox body collector with a clear point of view on stance, style, and what makes this chassis special. We asked him how the build came together and how a car from 1989 still holds its own today.

1. How long have you owned the car?
20 years

2. How did you decide on the stance and overall look of the car?
I always love the pro touring look... low and wide with a slight rake to the stance. It's such an aggressive look and makes the car look fast even while sitting idle.

3. What's been the most rewarding moment of owning this Mustang?
Just the overall evolution of it as a forever project.  I have so many friends and interactions throughout all the years of ownership. It truly makes it priceless to me.

4. How does the car compare to modern performance cars you've driven?
It's raw. No electronic nanny's. You feel everything. When you start adding considerable power you really need to pay attention and stay connected.

5. You’re an owner of multiple fox body’s, what’s your favorite thing about this chassis?
They've always been an underdog. Smaller cubic displacement than their counterparts. But they were overbuilt and ready to be made into whatever someone wanted to use them for from Ford. Ford made over 2.6 million foxbody mustangs so they weren't without some creaks and rattles. In the community we joke this adds a charming character. But I truly feel this is one of the very last of the unrefined cars of the pony car era that offers that visceral feeling behind the wheel. Almost everyone has some type of story from back in the day that they remember the one they sold or even just a friend who had one and talk about the feeling they got riding shotgun. The sound, the smell, it's pure nostalgia.

A little lift and the right tires go a long way

We spoke with krystal_hall_, a Jeep Gladiator owner who puts her truck to work. From trail runs to everyday use, she's got real experience behind the wheel. We asked her about her favorite adventures, the mods worth spending on, and a few tire myths she thinks Jeep owners need to let go of.

1. How do you use the Jeep most often?
My Jeep Gladiator is my adventure vehicle. I use it for everything from towing kayaks and exploring new fishing spots to road trips and outdoor content creation. Living in Florida, I’m constantly loading up fishing gear, hunting equipment, camping gear, so it gets used both on and off the pavement.

It’s built to handle whatever adventure comes next. One of my favorite things is taking the top off and cruising along the beach, especially after a day on the water.

2. What’s been your most memorable trip or adventure in the Gladiator?
One of my most memorable experiences with the Gladiator has been traveling to Jeep events with the Nitto team and showcasing my build alongside an amazing brand. Driving to Daytona Beach for Jeep Beach Week and displaying my Gladiator in the Nitto booth was an incredible experience. One of the highlights was getting to drive my Jeep on the Daytona International Speedway, something I never imagined I’d do with my own build.

Another favorite adventure was road tripping to Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, for the Smoky Mountain Jeep Invasion. Driving through the mountains, taking in the scenery, and being surrounded by thousands of fellow Jeep enthusiasts was unforgettable. These experiences have shown me that owning a Jeep is about more than just the vehicle, it’s about the adventures, the community, and the memories made along the way.

3. What’s a mod that had the biggest impact on performance and capability?
The combination of my lift and Nitto tires made the biggest difference. The added ground clearance and improved traction gave me much more confidence both on rough terrain and when exploring areas off the beaten path. It completely changed the capability and overall look of the Jeep.

4. What’s one mod that gave you the biggest improvement for the money?
Without a doubt, the tires. Tires are the only thing connecting your vehicle to the ground, and upgrading to Nitto improved traction, handling, confidence, and appearance all at once. It’s one of the best investments you can make on any build.

5. What tire-related myths do you think Jeep owners should stop believing?
The biggest myth is that aggressive looking tires automatically mean a rough, noisy ride. Tire technology has come a long way. Modern all terrain tires like Nitto can provide excellent on road comfort while still delivering the traction and capability you need off road. You don’t have to sacrifice daily drivability to have a capable adventure vehicle.

A Shelby in blue never gets old

Meet we_r_venom20, the owner of this 2020 Shelby GT500 that's hard to scroll past. Between yellow accents and the mods underneath the hood, this build has a lot going on. We chatted with him to hear the story behind it, from how he ended up in a GT500 to the reactions it gets from strangers on the street.

1. Was this your dream car growing up, or did you discover the GT500 later?
My dream car as a kid was to one day own a 67 Shelby GT500 “Eleanor”. My dad bought me my first Mustang, a 90’ GT, when I was 17 years old and I have owned several over the last 30 years. In 2010, my dream of owning a Shelby GT500 became a reality when I purchased a 2008 Shelby GT500. Then when the S550 Shelby GT500 platform was announced, I just had to get one. My 2020 Shelby GT500 was one of the last to roll off the production line for 2020 and I brought it home in 1/2021.

2. What's your favorite thing about owning a GT500?
My favorite part of owning a Shelby GT500 is having an absolutely beast of a car for performance and distinctive style. Shelby Mustangs have had a big impact in American automotive history and it’s great to own a piece of that.

3. Which mod made the biggest difference in performance?
The best modification I’ve done to my car is adding the carbon fiber track pack (CFTP) wing. My GT500 is a base model which came with a base spoiler. I track my car about three times a year. Since adding the CFTP wing, I can tell a difference as the rear end feels planted to the surface better than with the base spoiler. The resonator x-pipe delete makes the stock exhaust system sound good as well!

4. What inspired the blue-and-yellow color theme, and how did you decide on the overall look of the car?
My GT500 is currently wrapped with KPMF metro matte violaceous blue done by luxus_wrap_studio. The car is actually shadow black which I added the yellow overlays on the cobra emblems and Shelby GT500 lettering. My favorite color has always been blue. I decided to have the car wrapped but I wanted it to be different so I chose this color which in certain lighting shows blue and violet. I thought that the yellow went well with the blue so I just kept it that way. A different look is coming later this summer, so look out!

5. What's been the most memorable reaction you've received from a stranger?
I only drive the GT500 on the weekends when the weather is nice and honestly every time I take it out there is always someone who gives me a thumbs up or walks up to look at it wherever I’m at which is always a great feeling. Seeing the kids and their reactions reminds me of when I was little with a dream of owning one myself. Every moment driving the car puts a smile on my face and that’s what matters!

Tearing through Pikes Peak with Loren Healy

Some background into what is happening in this video:

Ever wonder what happens when you take a 1,000hp off-road Bronco to one of the world's most famous paved hill climbs?

That's exactly what Loren Healy and RTR Vehicles set out to find.

Rather than bringing a purpose-built hill climb car, Healy drove El Bandito, RTR's 1,000hp Bronco. For Pikes Peak, the team lowered the suspension, improved cooling, and swapped its usual 42-inch mud tires for 37-inch Nitto Terra Grappler G3 all-terrain tires, then pointed it at 12.42 miles of pavement, 156 corners, and a 4,700-foot climb to the summit.

This wasn't about chasing the overall win. It was about seeing how a vehicle built for the desert would handle one of motorsport's most demanding road courses.

The result? A 12:03.795 run, a class win in Exhibition-Ultra4 USA, and a new class record by more than a minute.

Sometimes motorsports is at its best when someone asks, "What if?"

Back in February, imjoshuawalker joined us out in Johnson Valley, CA during King of the Hammers with his Ford Raptor. Between the desert rocks, the chaos of KOH week, and a truck built to move fast through rough terrain, it felt like the perfect time to talk through his build and how he uses it out in the wild. We caught up with him for a quick Q&A about the truck, the gear he relies on, and what it takes to run a Raptor like this while documenting off-road adventures.

- What mods are you most proud of on your Raptor?

The suspension on the truck has really changed how it performs. The SVC Midtravel kit paired with the through the bed bypasses, properly clearanced to fit my 40” Nitto trail grapplers, allows me to get through rough terrain much quicker, and without beating everything up.

- What do people ask you most when they see your Raptor online or in person?

Funny enough, I probably get asked what tire size I’m running the most.

- You’re a Lumix Creator, how has that partnership influenced the type of content you make?

I really have been blessed with the Lumix partnership. With how tough the cameras are it allows me to not have to think so much about my “precious camera” and more about capturing the moment in real time. The in-body stabilization is the best in the biz, and makes it so I can get shots that you would usually need to pack extra equipment for.

- Do you think the Raptor reflects your personal style and how you approach adventures? Why?

My Raptor really is a reflection of nearly a decade of being a one man crew, documenting off-roading adventures. The last thing I want to worry about when out on a week-long shoot in the middle of nowhere, is my truck. It being as built as it is, allows me to zoom past most, post up, capture the shot, the rinse and repeat. I’ve had extreme offroad vehicles since I was in high school, and this is by far my favorite.

- What did you prepare or change specifically for KOH?

Other than changing fluids, and checking bolts, absolutely nothing. My goal is always to have it ready at all times for whatever comes next. It’s stacked with multiple navigation setups, comms, fridge, vehicle charging power station, Starlink, etc. it’s ready to go. Now that I’m back from KOH, it reeeeally needs a detail though!!
