Optimization Platforms

Hey all - I manage ~100 campaigns and have been in this role for like 4 years now. I'm just wondering which platforms (if any) people are using the streamline basic account optimizations these days? Just looking to reduce time spent effectively.

Oyama/Lake Country Living

Hi all - I realize this isn't Kelowna, but close enough!

I'm planning a move in the Spring into Oyama/Lake Country (we have a rental lined up) from the east coast. Do people generally enjoy it out there? What's the like/dislike? How are the winters?

Any insight is appreciated :).

Hazmat Tech

Hi all - looking for some info on Hazmat Technicians as a career (specifically in Canada would be most helpful).

I have my FF 1/2, Hazmat Awareness/Ops and Advanced First Aid certifications. I'm pretty sure I'd just have to get the Hazmat Tech cert and maybe some confined/rope rescue certs to compliment it before I'm competitive for jobs but I could be totally off.

Can anyone please provide some insight on the required certs? Also, are these types of jobs (either private or public) very common/in demand?

Thanks :)

Does Anybody Actually Give a Fuck

Does anybody actually care about their corp job? Like genuinely care and not just enough to keep your job and get decent performance reviews?

Sometimes it seems like my coworkers are actually passionate (?) about their position but I feel like they're also just pretending?

Typing this from my office desk after I finished my work in 3 hours btw.

Easy To Learn?

I’ve been playing on and off since 2007 but thinking about seeing if my partner would want to play but she has zero MMO experience.

Has anyone taught someone else with similar experience how to play classic wow? In my head it’s pretty simple but I’ve been playing for a long time so it’s hard to gauge.

Stringing For Accuracy

Looking for opinions of how others string their stick/shooters for accuracy. I prefer minimal whip and care about accuracy over power. Attached is what I currently have.

Any thoughts/opinions/pics welcome!

Will it be boring

Thinking about leveling a sword and board paladin. I already got one to 60 on anniversary but mostly sat in dungeons healing.

Will open world leveling on paladin be as boring as I think it might be? I briefly tried to multi-target aoe spec at 41 but went back to dungeons because it was faster.

Also thinking maybe lock or warr?

Would it be dumb to...

Would it be dumb to play a warrior for the first time on HC? I've been playing on and off since like 2006 but warrior and druid are the only classes I've never played in classic.

I was thinking about rolling a paladin or lock for HC but I've been feeling the warrior calling to me although I know how bad they are early on.

EMR Work

Hi all - I understand that once you get your EMR licensing, you likely start as a casual/on-call at rural stations. How long is this typically for before you can get a FT role? Are you able to get close to FT hours as a casual?

I'm hoping to get my licensing done and work strictly as an EMR if possible right off the bat 😄.

Lake Country Living

Not Kelowna, but close enough?

Planning a move out to Lake Country in the Fall. I'm not super familiar with the neighbourhoods (I'm from Calgary) and was wondering if there are any neighbourhoods to stay away from or any not great areas that you wouldn't want to live in?

Or just any insights about the area as a whole 😄.

EMR Duties

Hi all - going to be getting my EMR certification in the fall and just curious about the scope.

I understand an EMR is basically a paramedic assistant that will take patient vitals and do some of the basics. Is this correct? Does it vary from rural to urban stations?

Western Canada EMR

Hi all - looking for some insights on day-to-day life as an EMR.

Quick background is that I have a degree and a corporate work experience (30 years old), making a shift to a first responder. I completed the Fire Academy in October last year and some early-mid level medical certifications. I can get my EMR with another two weeks of classes, plus the certification exam.

I'm exploring the idea of getting some medical experience as an EMR before I fully commit to fire as I think it's interesting and could be a potential career path.

What is a realistic day-to-day as an EMR? I understand EMRs work alongside paramedics and are more-or-less there to assist them (at least that's what the provincial website says). What is your experience? Do you enjoy it?

Looking for insight on anywhere in NA but Western Canada would be ideal.

Thanks 😄

Free Resources?

I work in fire in Alberta, moving to BC in the fall. I’m going to get my EMR when I arrive but I’m looking for some good, free resources that I can study ahead of time so I’m more prepared. Thanks :)

Placements

Hi all - I already posted less than 24 hours ago but I have been reading through the sub and have an additional question.

What is the likelihood that I could receive a placement in/around (within an hour) of the Kelowna area? From what I can see, it seems like Vancouver and high-density areas would be the hardest to get. I also know it varies, but not sure if there's a trend?

Thanks 😄

Looking For Basic Info - EMR

Hi all - moving from Calgary to the Okanagan (haven't pinpointed an exact spot yet) in the fall. I have Fire, Hazmat and Advanced First Aid (OFA Level 3 equivalent) certifications and planning on doing the AFA/OFA 3 bridge to EMR before or shortly after I move.

I've sent an email to the BCEHS careers email but thought I'd ask here too. I believe all I'll need (based on the website) is my EMR bridge and class 4 to be eligible - is this accurate?

The website also seems to suggest you can work in "any region". Would I just be able to choose the Okanagan as a "region" and be placed somewhere around there or how does that process actually work?

Lastly, how competitive is this field? Considering I have Fire, Hazmat, Bachelors Degree and will have my EMR/Class 4. Would I be a good applicant?

Thanks in advance 😄

String Setup

Looking for some thoughts on what works for others for their string setup.

I currently run a mid pocket with 2 shooters at the top. It works pretty good for me as I like minimal whip and overall seems pretty accurate for my shot.

What kind of setup feels best for you for accuracy? Not overly concerned about power.

Best Heads For Accuracy

Looking at getting a new head and looking for recommendations for a new one. I’ll take accuracy over power with a decent pinch for ball control in the pocket :).
