Zeekr 7GT (all BUT open for pre-orders yet)

Zeekr 7GT (all BUT open for pre-orders yet)

The Zeekr 7GT is confirmed for Australia (all bar Zeekr themselves opening pre-orders).

Over the last few months there’s been a huge interest and chatter about the 7GT for Australia and it’s got our attention.

We’re pretty keen to order one ourselves, but so far it’s just dealer discretion on whether they’re accepting $2k EOI’s. $2k is a lot for a car that doesn’t exist yet, as most actual pre-orders are about $1k with an accompanying spec sheet.

The LHD showroom car has been quietly hopping around Zeekr dealerships in Aus (last rumored to be in Adelaide).

It ticks all the boxes for sports wagon we want:
- Long range
- Fast charging
- Actual performance
- Sporty and aggressive styling
- Practicality
- not being a six-figure Porsche

European pricing/specs are our only source atm
- 655km WLTP range
- 800V platform (rumoured we are getting 900v)
- AWD performance variants doing 0–100 in ~3 seconds

We still don’t know whether Australia is only getting the Performance/AWD trim and what pricing is looking like.

Wondering if we should just cough up the $2k now to secure a spot 🥴

Prime Minister says EVs could be made in Australia

>“At the very least, we can make parts and components including batteries here,” said the PM, according to the Herald Sun. “Indeed, there are companies looking at doing just that.”

I must be the unicorn

Reddit suggested this community and of course I had to join. Love a dirty zinger box

Anyway, I had a quick peruse of your posts and comments. Either I must be the unicorn, or QLD just does it better.

My orders are always accurate (I order through the app and usually swap gravy for more chips, or add/remove something from my burger). I genuinely can’t recall when they’ve ever got it wrong in the last 4-5 years.

Hot and fresh 90% of the time. Only on a rare occasion do I ask for them to get me fresh chips.

Otherwise staff are quick, food is good, and not much fuss really. It’s takeaway, my standards aren’t too high.

The only store I had issue with was Dickson in Canberra! That was fuuuuucked.

Where are your shit KFCs so I can avoid them? 🙏🏼

New mod introduction and subreddit update!

Hello!

I’ve just jumped onboard as an additional mod to r/AustralianEV and I’m getting stuck into the backlog of messages and reports.

What’s changing?
Over the coming days, we’ll be rolling out a few quality-of-life improvements and updated community guidelines to help keep the subreddit organised, informative, and enjoyable to use.

Updated Rules & Etiquette
The rules will be refreshed to better reflect the current state of EV discussion in Australia. The focus will be on:
- Keeping discussions civil and constructive
- Reducing low-effort trolling and baiting
- Encouraging genuine discussion and good-faith debate
- Limiting spam, referral farming, and excessive self-promotion
- Keeping political discussion relevant and respectful
- Ensuring misinformation is challenged appropriately

This won’t be a heavy-handed moderation environment and I want to get this subreddit to a point where it is quite self sufficient (your upvotes & downvotes are a powerful tool). Remember, healthy disagreement is completely fine but personal attacks and hostility are not.

Post Flairs
Post flairs have been enabled to make browsing and searching easier. Categories include things like:
- News
- Charging
- Buying Advice
- Reviews (Automotive Journalists, YouTube reviewers etc)
- Questions
- Photos (My Ride)

Custom User Flairs
Custom user flairs have also been enabled so members can optionally show:
- Their EV(s)
- State/territory

Images in Comments
Image uploads in comments have been enabled.
This should make it much easier to:
- Share charging screenshots
- Post delivery photos
- Compare efficiency figures
- Show issues or repairs
- Share road trip setups
- Post memes (within reason)

The Goal
I’d like to see this community become the go-to Australian EV subreddit for:
- Reliable information
- Local ownership experiences
- Charging infrastructure discussion
- Industry news
- Vehicle launches
- Real-world advice

I’m looking forward to seeing where the subreddit goes from here, and I’m keen to hear feedback and ideas from the community as things evolve.

Reminder: if you missed your train because it was full, you were late, or you were shoulder-to-shoulder on the train, WRITE TO THE MINISTER FOR TRANSPORT!

YOU SHOULD BE OUTRAGED!

This wouldn’t be acceptable in any other country.
The Japanese government would be apologising. Switzerland would never allow it to happen.

Write to the minister and demand their action (use the link and template above).

Mickelberg should be answering to us!

How bad were the trains this morning?

I worked from home today, but need them the rest of the week.

Journey Planner is showing there are no express services at all? Were they still every 15mins as scheduled?

If price was no object (you won $M), which EV would you order today?

Completely spec’d out. The expensive paint. No options or upgrades missed.

Include a pic of your spec too if you can!

The email confirmation told me deliveries were expected in September 2027.

Yep.

2027.

1 year and 4 months away.

I wanted to offload our second (ICE) car this year and can’t wait that long unfortunately. Especially with the updated FBT cut offs.

It’s really unfortunate, but I don’t blame them. Just sucks for anyone hoping for deliveries this year.

> 'Speed primary cause'

> Police Inspector Paul Algie said early examination of the damage and skid marks suggested the car the 14-year-old was driving was likely speeding.

> "Speed looks as though it was the primary cause," he said.

Yes, because the primary cause had nothing to do with the driver being 14 years old and on the wrong side of the road. 🤡

Dear Minister Mickelberg,

I’m writing regarding the ongoing rail disruptions caused by protected industrial action and, more specifically, the public messaging coming from your office and your political party. I've been affected by these repeatedly since they began.

At a recent press conference, you stated:

“These temporary changes are going to have a considerable impact on Queenslanders. Queenslanders are rightly frustrated and angry … we’re also frustrated.”

No one disputes that disruptions are frustrating, we commuters feel it every day. What is concerning is the way this situation is being framed - statements like this risk directing public anger solely at workers and their unions, rather than acknowledging the broader context: employees exercising their lawfulright to take protected industrial action in pursuit of a fair Enterprise Bargaining Agreement.

Frustration should not be used as a political tool to undermine workers who are negotiating in good faith. These workers are not acting unlawfully or irresponsibly - they are participating in a regulated process designed to balance power between employers and employees.

If the government is genuinely frustrated, then the logical expectation is that it would play a constructive role in resolving the dispute, rather than contributing to a narrative that places blame disproportionately on one side.

I would ask:

- What steps is your office taking to encourage a fair and timely resolution to the EBA negotiations?

- Do you believe it is appropriate to characterise the situation in a way that may inflame public sentiment against workers exercising legal rights?

Queenslanders deserve both a reliable transport system and a fair outcome for the people who operate it. These are not mutually exclusive goals.

I would appreciate a considered response outlining your position and the actions being taken to resolve this matter constructively.
