Foster agency called me saying my now recently deceased father’s baby needs an emergency home and I am next of kin. I say yes immediately but request paternity test because pretty sure my father wasn’t physically able to conceive around the time they did due to cancer and several related surgeries slightly before, during and after that time.

My sister gets a message from one of his colleagues who befriended the wife and said the baby’s uncle IN TURKEY is taking the baby and they’re trying to get a passport. Is this normal? Is this possible during investigation? I live in PA.

Teaching jobs are very competitive in my area for all grades and subjects, both good and bad schools. I have a noise violation from 2023 on my record. Is this going to make it significantly tougher? I’m 28 now. I’d be applying for lower elementary, if that’s helpful.

I have a 9x12 rug that’s machine washable. It’s from hook and loom. The contents are: 85% cotton; 12% polyester; 3% other clothing fibers). Should I hire a company to clean it or should I try to do something with it at home? It obviously won’t fit in my washer machine. Any advice and directions would be helpful. Is this something I can do from home? What should I use and how should I do it?

Our Eco Cotton rugs are made from 100% recycled fiber. To keep them in ship shape:
Vacuum regularly. Please do not use a beater bar.
If you choose to shake the rug, please roll the hem a little before grabbing it. We use cotton thread which is not as strong as the synthetic thread used on most other rugs.
Use as-is until it needs washing. While our rugs wash beautifully, normal shrinkage will occur during the first wash, and your rug pad may need re-trimming. After one wash, we have seen no further shrinkage. Please remove the label from reversible rugs prior to washing. This will prevent the adhesive from bonding to the rug and making that side of the rug unuseable.
Washing your Eco Cotton Rug
Machine wash cold. Use any detergent with no bleach. If the rug does not fit comfortably in your home machine it can be washed at a laundromat or commercial laundry. Please do not stuff it in too tightly. The water needs to circulate freely.
Tumble dry. Most dryers will stop while the rug is still slightly damp. If this happens, it’s fine to take it out and lay it flat (on a water-resistant floor) until it dries fully.
Clip off any thread or yarn ends that loosen in the wash.  This will probably be needed only after the first wash, if at all.  If a small knot appears (weavers may tie the yarns, if needed, during weaving), use a dull pointed object to poke the knot back into the rug.

I got medik8’s liquid peptide serum because I saw several comments of people saying it made them look good instantly. I don’t know if I actually look better or if it shows I’ve been using something when I don’t use it, but I feel like it makes me so much prettier. In hindsight, they were prob ads which is scary.

My well meaning, sometimes overly critical twin has also stopped asking me if I’ve had water lol. I do kind of want to get her one but since I’m new to skincare, can someone confirm with me if the ingredients actually are helpful and if it’s effective??

Second edit: you guys are freaking me out about these guerilla posts if you think this is one. I’m literally uneducated in skincare and ingredients. Rhode milk and glaze has achieved the same thing, but idk if it’s more make up-y skincare vs treatment and long term goal oriented skincare.

Im 28 and have my bachelors in k-4. I’ve only ever been a building sub and had one long term sub position. I left subbing in the fall of 2024 to have a baby and I want to apply to places for fall of 2027.

I’m so confused and worried about what I keep hearing about layoffs. Literally, yesterday I told my partner that I would apply to school districts nearby that are less desirable so I can be done with substituting and then I’d just keep working on applying to my dream schools and districts. Just this morning, I saw that both the less desirable and even the better districts are, or have, cut SO MANY JOBS.

This is where I need help. I was going to begin masters program to help make me more marketable and so I can hopefully stay home one more year with my baby, but still be doing something for myself. Would not having a masters at the moment actually work in my favor since they wouldn’t have to pay me so much??

I got my 11s done and a few other places around my forehead … now it’s almost like pulling on my nose skin when I make certain faces. It wasn’t a problem before. Do I go to my dermatologist, who is a third party, and ask for what to do? Or do I go back to the injector I went to? It’s like freaking me out, my nose didn’t have this problem before and I’m worried it’s going to age me until the Botox finishes its coarse. I don’t think I look weird but my nose feels … fatigued almost ??

Hey experts and enthusiasts, I can become extremely hyper fixated with things like this and I do not have the time today or this week. Please help recommend a new vacuum for under $300 to help me avoid doing a deep dive and becoming hyper fixated.

I was using a shark rocket and the chord starting exposing the inner wires and this morning, MAJOR sparks were flying out so I’m too scared to use it. It was ok, not bad or good. I like that it had a light when it was turned on because it made cleaning more fun and it was helpful. It wasn’t overly heavy so I could whip it out easily, but it wasn’t too light where it was only good for quick messes.

I vacuum multiple times a day, usually a quick pickup and deep clean in the PM. We are renters, so I am hesitant to ball out on a vacuum because our needs may change when we move. I have messy toddler, husband, and dog with short hair (not fur).

I occasionally use my sisters powerhouse of a vacuum, Dyson animal, when I want to get DEEEP into cleaning but it’s way too rough on my living room rug (major investment) even with the beater brush off.

My favorite thing is see how much I can fill the canister each clean…. but for how much I vacuum I’m wondering if it’s bad how much it fills up despite the fact I vacuumed a few hours ago.

I don’t care about having to clean hair from the vacuum brush and I don’t care about needing to replace filters. My budget is at or around $300 or less at the moment. Final note - we spend SO MUCH time on our floors from playing to laying down.

So as consumers, it’s seems like we’re stepping our game with demanding transparency and safer materials in fabrics and textiles. Someone recently made a post about Quince and potential false labeling.

Something similar happened to me with Butterblu. I was about to do an entire clothing haul for my baby and unfortunately their GOTS certification claim didn’t include any information beyond an icon.

I messaged them and requested a copy of their transaction certification for several of the clothing sets I was about to buy. After several days and an additional email requesting it, they finally got back to me three hours ago with a link to their “about” page. I will be following up as this is frustrating and unsettling.

In short - I’m not saying they don’t sell GOTS certified clothing, however, they have yet to be able to prove it. (By the way, consumers shouldn’t have to even email brands to personally confirm the validity of their GOTS claim because usually it’s on an items web page)
