How do you feel about ai companies going public on the stock market?

Most of these companies aren't making much money and by going public they can offset the loss to people. If you have a 401k or any index fund you will be automatically bought into the companies.

50billion in yearly revenue. 2 trillion in private investor funding. Going public inflated the value allowing them to pay off their investors.

Not really knowledgeable about economics but from my understanding thats what's happening.

Is it not fairly obvious lestat killes louis' brother in the book?

He looked up, was going to say something and then was "swept" by wind.

I always felt like Anne Rice initially planned to make lestat his killer but changed her mind when she decided to make lestat the main character.

Hot take posts about racist topics shouldn't be allowed here. The takes aren't hot they are just stupid and obviously farming/rage bait.

A hot take is controversial opinions will be split about it. Racism is bad no matter the circumstance so its not a hot take.

I never understood mekare.

She's a vampire they are supposed to be unchanging. I can understand madness from brain overload after living long enough. What I don't understand is her mind decaying or her having little contact with humans. I also don't understand how she was even able to find akasha if she was mostly not there by the end of qotd time period. I know it was a set up to make lestat the host but I feel like Anne Rice had to break her own rules to do so.

What exactly am I supposed to be looking for in pitch in order to match it?

I can hear pitch difference. Like i can tell the difference between a c4 and a c2. I can tell the difference between a c and a d.

I can't tell you what the difference is and it makes it hard to understand matching pitch with a piano. I mainly guess when im trying to match pitch but am usually off. How do I know if I'm correctly matching pitch on my own? And then how do I replicate it?

Corporations and the government are actively making our lives harder. What is the end goal?

Americans are taxed more today then what triggered the revolutionary war with little representation. I think i understand the aspect of smaller government in that context. It takes so much for anything to get done on a federal level that nothing ends up getting done for years. We do this left and right battle but at the same time the american people recognize that at the end of the day politicians mainly work for their own interests.

My issue is giving the states too much power will quickly impede on the rights of many especially in states that have a large religious population.

Companies cutting costs on goods while raising the price of those same goods (shrinkflation). The excuse is always "well we are forced to pay people more now."

Companies are buying houses which i personally think should be illegal. Its a corporation why do you need to own a family home? The newer generations are suffering under the weight of government and corporate greed.

Buying a house is becoming unlikely for most. Getting proper health care is a nuisance.

Everything has poison in it for some reason.

And of course as life gets harder for everyone. Xenophobia and racism are on the rise because the politicians want to blame someone. So it must be those "insert group" stealing jobs from "insert group being manipulated."

America is beginning to look like a pyramid scheme. How is any of this even possible? How are we in a housing crisis? How are we in a health crisis? How has america been so mismanaged that our children now have to struggle more than our parents? Genuinely who is making these decisions?

why do we vote for the lesser evil? Why do we willingly accept that the government cannot be trusted when the point of a government run by the people is that they are supposed to be more trust worthy? Big government is bad for the country but I feel like small government is bad for the individual.

I think alot of american ideals are outdated and actively work against human nature which itself is a disease in society. Americans want to be hyper independent selfish individuals that live in a society where no one is owed anything but that itself is contradictory to what society is. We all have to participate in this for it to function. So many people are comfortable with trying to put in the least and take out the most. If this keeps up what will the country look like in 10 years?

CMV: the average person VASTLY underestimates how intelligent other animals are.

I think since so few of us deal with animals on a day to day basis combined with the fact that we are taught that humans are superior that it actually disconnects us from nature. Anybody that cares for animals will tell you that they understand and are much more conscious then the educational system gives them credit for.

Some birds can speak. Not in the sense of just copying sounds but actually using words with correct context. A dog can learn how to correctly ride a skateboard, bears have been observed enjoying sunrises, elephants go to funerals. The trust a wild animal can put into a human also implies a level of recognition.

They all have their own personalities and I think its a significant blind spot for the average person. Who is mainly taught that animals operate on instinct like everything humans do isnt just to increase our population and odds of survival.

Do you think americans may be a bit too trigger happy?

Gun violence in america is scarily out of control from the civilians too the government.

Among first world countries the USA has the most violent police force. (Emphasis on first world country)

America has the highest rate of mass shootings

America has the highest rate of school shootings

America is high on the countries with the most total gun violence.

America is still the only country to actually use atomic bombs

America frequently engages in armed conflict. also spends the most on their war department.

Even the concept of doing something about the guns are met with threats of gun violence from civilians.

Even hunting in america is more popular than anywhere else.

What's the solution that isnt being enacted?

What's the sociological reasoning behind it?

I wish shows did the holiday specials like they used too. Imagine a loustat valentines day, with a musical montage of them on a date.

Or they could do their own version of the star wars christmas special.

Claudia snapping on louis and lestat plus their reaction was not surprising.

How many times in season one did we see her yelling at the both of them and then they either immediately disregard her or even joke while she was upset.

Yes she was manipulative and also a liar. Not in some extreme fashion tho given what they are. She fed louis things about lestat to separate them and lestat attempted to do the same thing claudia just had more tact and easier fuel; Lestat being controlling and a liar.

Some people think her big reveal was so starkly out of character when it wasn't. Neither of them were surprised because Claudia wasn't as sneaky or conniving as she would want us to believe. Louis and lestat are both just incredibly dumb reckless individuals who either follow the path of their own destruction or the path to each other which often intertwine.

I think thats why I LOVE brutal love so much. It's not just the theme of the episode but their entire story. Its placement right before they see claudia also feels very purposeful.

Louis was always a powerful vampire. He just refused to use his power

Lestat drank from akasha before turning louis. In the show he waited 100 years and he drank from akasha before turning louis. What the show has shown us is that the powers do have to be learned. Even if they are gifted through the blood. Louis not wanting to engage with his own vampirism half the time is the reason he seemed weak. Claudia says this. Lestat says this. And i think armsnd does as well. He's a passive perpetual victim that takes no personal accountability half the time. Yet in the show when he's well fed he can single handedly wipe out a coven. In the first book he single handedly wipes out the coven. Id argue louis was made more powerful than gabrielle.

American capitalism is predatory and manipulative. Why support it through elections?

Many of these companies are moving towards a subscription based model for things you already own essentially trying to remove ownership from technologies that we used to be able to purchase.

Car insurance and car Companies lobbied against an updated railway and even improved public transportation in most cities. Why is most of america car dependent?

Health care is privatized and therefore unaffordable for most people without health insurance but then you get people in suits deciding on if you get to have a certain treatment.

Social media is purposely made to be addictive. These companies hired psychologists to actually figure out how to keep humans in a dopamine loop just so we can stare at a screen longer. Short form media is actively shrinking our attention spans. There we are fed propaganda, horrible news, propaganda, racism, propaganda, death, propaganda, war, propaganda, companies hitting record profits while the middle class starts to shrink.

People actuakly believe that not everyone deserves to live off of their job based on whatever they deem valuable. A cashier deserves to be able to pay their bills. A mcdonalds cook is no different. Why do some think that others are undeserving?

Companies even lobbied to introduce more technology in the learning process which is actively making the next generation less intelligent then the previous. There is a major literacy crisis in america and I firmly believe that its the main reason we are where we are on either political side.

These companies go out of their way to feed you poison just so they can sell you the antidote but its not actually an antidote it's a 30 step treatment plan that only minimizes the symptoms for 3 years and then you have to do the treatment again.

Companies owe their consumers, they owe their workers, they owe the american society that allows them to thrive. It makes no sense that every year companies are pulling in record profits and their lowest ranking employees can't pay their rent or god forbid go on a vacation.

Most agree we shouldn't trust the government, so why give that trust to a company that has even less of a reason to care about you or your neighbor?

Why continue to vote for the two party system that: allows bribery, That will actively make everyone's life harder and therefore everyone less safe, that sows distrust between the political parties, and that has turned most people in the lower class into wage slaves.

Making just enough to survive till the next paycheck but never enough for real measurable self improvement. Where's the life if I can't afford my bills even when working full time? Where's the liberty if the economic class i was born into prevents most born in it from rising? Where's the justice in a system that is run by the level of weakth someone can access?

Louis and lestat the schizophrenic blood tweakers

The parallel between louis, armand and Daniel's first meeting and lestat marius and akasha are the pure gothic horror that takes place. I love when the show reminds us how terrifying the vampires can truly be.

Incapacitated high vampire and vampire that returns order and puts the confused rambling character to rest.

Louis burnt to a crisp. lestat contorted and floating.

Armand's shaking eyes. When marius arrives the entire scene starts to shake.

The questioning being coming out of a haze akasha and daniel.

I wonder if that's why Armand kills the way he does. He was being trained to watch over akasha and enkil. Helping confused and hurt souls rest is part of what marius does.

Why are white supremacist groups not labeled as terrorist organizations?

The ideals behind white supremacy are inherently violent towards non white individuals. The concept of race itself was created so that white supremacy could exist.

European powers were conquering and enslaving, while most people were of christian faith. Which at the time condemned unequal treatment. The concept of race came into play as a propaganda tool. To support the european slave trade and colonization of african countries. Psuedoscience was pushed out to make people believe that some races were naturally superior to others so therefore treating them unequal is ok. That's why race exists. That's why white supremacy as an ideology is inherently one of violence. Every white supremacist group at some point attacked or attempted to terrorize a community of minorities.

We bring in immigrants because we need labor and then we either kick them out or put them on the chopping block for some atrocity.

America is rooted in white supremacy and that is exactly why minoroties have such a long and continued history of suffering. Its terrorism. Why do we not treat it as such?
