Anyone else find Secular Talk insufferable?

I used to follow this guy religiously in 2020-2024 but ever since i became a communist I can’t stand him anymore. Just surface level nonsense completely devoid of any understanding of how we got modern fascism. Completely unaware of global imperialism, of class society, and the more I read theory - anything beyond voting hard for “real” Democrats.

It’s like I want to shake unc and tell him there is no USSR anymore to scare capitalism into pretending to be nice, voting for socdems literally makes zero sense if you understand the history of it. You won’t get it, your holding the working class back from reviving the militant labor movement with rigged electoralism!

▲ 3 r/BPD

My partner is on SSI and is summoned for a Medical Evaluation for Social Security, will she pass for BPD alone?

Genuinely concerned if she should play up her symptoms or just be casual because although she is in remission she has trouble when overwhelmed and doesn’t believe she could hold a job long term. it’s like she’s in a gray area and we are concerned about her losing her benefits because it would be life ruining tbh.

The government is NOT corrupt; it is working just as intended for the bourgeoisie.

This one isn’t too bad, in fact I think OP has the right spirit at heart. But there is a mental pillar for Demsocs/socdems that needs to come down before they become revolutionary communists. The government is not corrupt, this is just how capitalist government operates.

I’ve never played a puppet Combo game but right off the bat I see why people like them.

I’m getting the impression that they are ps1 horror games unrestricted by retro hardware. I’m currently playing Silent hill 1 on duck station but will be sure to check out Puppet Comb’s stuff. Which game do you all recommend I start off with?

“Baby boomer bad” is covert scapegoatism and I wonder if it’s boosted by CIA to keep the libs from asking questions.

Yes they were racist petty bourgeois asshats but blaming them feels like it lets capitalism off the hook. Seems convenient…Also this country was never a decent country to the rest of the world or even its bottom 25% ever.

What was that one gay old man artist Joe liked?

There was once an episode where Joe was playing a video of weird music where it was an old man singing about cock. Joe said he thought it was good music. It had a VHS feel to it.

I fucking hate seeing memes like this.

If you feel like this you should strongly consider changing meds, antidepressants work but only if you find the right one for you. Memes like this are the apolitical version of antivax and make people not want to try medication at all. I ripped this from r/meme and people in the comments are saying stuff like “oh I guess I’m naturally on antidepressants without taking any” … (feelsbadman).

apologies if this is off topic for the sub but this feels like a good PSA in a community that is pro science.

The social democratic era really messed up people’s minds

Social democracy mostly happened because the bourgeoisie were sufficiently terrified of the USSR AND communists Growing the labor movement in the west like the KPD. The bourgeoisie made capitalism pretend to be nice for a little while to fight communism. Not because we voted for FDR hard enough. WE never had democracy, ever. It was always fake and only pretended to align with the working class to buy us off. The bourgeoisie lie that we live under a democracy and work very hard to ensure its veneer of respectability. You can get some socialists elected to a capitalist government but it will never be their system, if they try to make too big a change they will be dealt with by either brazen acts of rat fuckery or violence.

The sooner you get in in your mind that “The government is not corrupt, this is just how Capitalist Government works“ the better. A peoples republic (USSR, Mao’s China, …) will always represent you the way you think a ‘capitalist democracy’ ought to. But a socialist government must be fought for as history shows.

TLDR: Lenin’s the State and Revolution says the government is either capitalist or socialist. Government as an extension of the economy always has a class perspective. This government has a bourgeois perspective which is why to us it appears corrupt even though capitalist government is working as intended.

Capital and Society

It makes sense that if Capital is a social power, then of course commodities are social indicators. When understanding commodity fetishization it is important to understand that what people are truly flaunting is their relation to capital. Relations to capital whether by custody or market valued subservience is the prime determinant for where you stand socially under capital-class society. Humans as deeply social beings internalize this instinctively and praise good relations to capital to better ourselves socially and materially. Even socialism aims to better everyone’s relation to capital so that everyone prospers opposed to a capitalist system that runs on a shrinking custodial bourgeoisie which benefits increasingly in relation to capital by worsening the rest of humanity’s standing.

Social animals drunk on a gamified economy with deep instruments of social power, prosperity, and destruction. The only way out is to smash the state machine, not just the capitalist state but the whole state machine. Its components are comprised of capital itself, and cannot be abolished but made obsolete. Otherwise it’s perpetuated relevance is standing for counterrevolution. If liberal democracy is a race between fascism and socialist revolution then socialism is a race between social democracy and communism. Obsolescence of capital appears to be the only way over the peak of class struggle.

This illuminates the chief goal of communists. To achieve of the complete obsolescence of capital. A technological and social transformation. This is the dialectical mechanism for which the state “withers away”; obsolescence. This is why it will lay beside the spinning wheel.

Reject commodity fetishization, we should be in good standing with the Earth not Capital. May we see the day when the dialectics Marx observed come true that described the entropy of oppression as a system. Communism for all beings.

Anyone else Vegan / Vegetarian? How has that been for you?

Personally I feel like you really don’t fully understand how cold capitalism really is and how deep the fascstic violence is in its DNA until you’ve seen factory farm footage. Factory farms, concentration camps, slaughter house workers the camp guards it’s mostly the same rot of corporate violence. The government recommends meat because they are paid to, not because the government is corrupt but because that’s how bourgeois government works.

I feel like being plant based completes my communist analysis.

what about you?

Was TLOU 2 that bad or was it just the Chud hate that won the narrative?

I loved Part 1 and want to know if Part 2 is worth a chance.

24 Hour Fitness had the biggest fall off.... I miss swimming, sauna, basketball at 1am

They used Covid as an excuse to never fully reopen again. I suspect because the private equity firm that bought them in 2020 wanted to maximize profits. This really did a number on me as someone who lives in a small town where everything is closed by 8-9...

Just got done playing a session of Most Wanted, last played around 2010.

Just wow, the game holds up today very well and the soundtrack immediately brought a smile to my face. After starting, what I thought was hilarious was how much cornier the cutscenes were than I remember. I took that shit soo seriously as a kid its funny. This game is spiritually fast n furious and I fully appreciate it's charm as an adult. Whenever Razor talked his homeboys would be all like "yeah, you better watch out, nobody can take him" lol, I'm surprised they didn't immediately high five each other and say something like "oh burn".

but most importantly, when I was racing I was so locked in it was borderline therapeutic. No racing thoughts, no background anxiety that I forget is there, no nothing. Just me and the road. This game was a blast to play and is good for my mental health and is making me realize that I shouldn't just accept my anxiety because I'm managing and should seek treatment. I really love this game, I haven't felt fully locked in playing videogames in a real long time. Focus clears the mind.

Overall, I'm gonna finish the game and see where it takes me. I had a good time.
