Why I feel so shy in wearing shirt
Title: Why do I feel shy wearing shirts even at 21?
I’m 21M, and I’ve had this weird insecurity about wearing shirts since childhood. Even now, I feel shy or uncomfortable wearing a normal shirt, especially around other people. T-shirts feel much more natural and comfortable to me.
I know it sounds like a small thing, but it’s been with me for years, and sometimes I wonder why I feel this way. Has anyone else experienced something similar, where you’ve been uncomfortable wearing a certain type of clothing since childhood? Did you eventually get over it?
How do you deal with the feeling that your job takes away your entire life?
How do you deal with the feeling that your job takes away your entire life?
I’ve been working for around 1.5 years now. My current job is a day shift, from 10:30 AM to 7:30 PM, so I spend around 9 hours at work every day.
After logging off, I come home, eat, shower, relax for a bit, and before I know it, it’s time to sleep and get ready for work again.
What’s bothering me is that I genuinely feel like I have no time for myself anymore. The days go by so quickly, and it feels like the same cycle keeps repeating: work → home → sleep → work.
I know having a job is normal and I’m not expecting to have unlimited free time, but I’m wondering how other people deal with this feeling.
How do you maintain a life outside of work when your job takes up most of your day? And at what point did you decide that you needed to change your job, schedule, or lifestyle?
How strict is Emirates’ employment/background verification for cabin crew?
How strict is Emirates’ employment/background verification for cabin crew?
I’m planning to apply for Emirates cabin crew and I have a question about the one-year hospitality/customer-service experience requirement.
I previously worked as a receptionist at a small, locally owned hotel for around 1.5 years. The hotel belonged to a relative, and I was genuinely involved in the day-to-day work there, including dealing with guests and handling reception duties.
However, there are a few complications:
It was a very small/local hotel.
I was staying with my relative, so I wasn’t receiving a regular salary.
I don’t have formal salary slips or employment documents from that job.
The property has since been sold by my relative, so the hotel is no longer under his ownership.
For those who have applied to or worked for Emirates, how strict is the employment/background verification process?
Would it be reasonable to include this experience on my application if I can provide some form of reference or other evidence, or would the lack of formal employment records make it risky to include?
I’m not trying to misrepresent anything—I genuinely worked there. I just want to understand how Emirates usually handles this type of informal/small-business work experience and whether it can count toward the one-year requirement.
How much you get as a meal allowance
Hi everyone! I’m aspiring to join Emirates as cabin crew, and I’m trying to get a realistic idea of the overall monthly salary.
From what I understand, the basic salary is around AED 4,980, and the flying pay is approximately AED 69.6 per flying hour. I have a general idea of how these two components work, but I’m not very clear about the meal allowance and other allowances.
I understand that the meal allowance depends on the destination, country, and number of layovers, so I’m not looking for an exact figure. I’d just like to know the average amount you usually receive in a month.
For example, would it typically be around AED 3,000–4,000 per month, more than that, or less?
If any current or former Emirates cabin crew members could share a rough monthly figure, I’d really appreciate it. I’m just trying to understand the realistic monthly take-home package before I pursue this career.
Thank you! ✈️

Question for Cabin Crew: Is it weird being shirtless around your seniors at the beach or pool?
For those of you who work as cabin crew, especially at airlines like Emirates, Qatar Airways, or Etihad:
As a new joiner, were you ever nervous or intimidated by your pursuer or senior cabin crew during flights because they were supervising and evaluating you?
But then during layovers or days off, everyone goes to the beach, pool, or other leisure activities together. It suddenly feels so different—you might be wearing swim shorts, be shirtless at the beach or pool, and just hanging out with the same seniors you were nervous around a few hours earlier.
Did that feel awkward at first? How do you mentally switch from the professional hierarchy onboard to such a relaxed environment off duty? Does it become normal after a while, or is it still a bit strange seeing your seniors in such a casual setting?
I'd love to hear your experiences.
As a male crew are we allowed to be shirtless in front of senior or Persuer during Layover??
