What are some good, rather arcane classics?

I’m talking about things that have to be considered classics because they’re still in print after many decades or even centuries, but they’re not really part of the canon.

When Trump dies as we all must, and if the circumstances warrant an autopsy, do you think we’re going to get the truth? The truth about pathological problems with his brain, for example?

[TOMT][tv episode][early 1960s] I am, or was, pretty sure this is an Alfred Hitchcock episode; a man invites someone home and his wife offers “molasses cookies” on a covered plate. She removes the cover and a gun is on the plate and she shoots the guest.

The Murder of Roger Ackroyd by Agatha Christie. Cover of the hour. 9:15 AM CDT on May 13, 2026

I guess that’s Charles Kent in the foreground, in broad daylight. Inside the house, a man dressed for outdoors is apparently shooting a conscious and combative Ackroyd.

Agatha Christie mysteries that you have solved

If you solved it, tell us about it. I have not so much solved as guessed many of them, based on one little piece of evidence. I can’t say I worked everything out.

Did I see this actor in Hogan‘s Heroes?

The opening credits of Hogan’s Heroes shows 20 or so actors as Allies gathered together in the snow before Colonel Klink. Most of them are not part of the regular cast. I swear I saw Johnny Brown somewhat behind Hogan. Am I right?

Micro-Suggestions for readers who want some more of those cozy mysteries

I use the prefix micro as in microbrew. There’s nothing small about the books, only the outputs of the authors. They didn’t produce much, but wowee!

The Murder of Roger Ackroyd by Agatha Christie. You’re kidding, right?

Who is this dissolute woman supposed to be? Caroline? ? Flora? Mrs. Ackroyd? Ursula, the parlormaid?

Is there an ending to an Agatha Christie book that baffled you, angered you, or otherwise flabbergasted you?

I’m left dangling at the end of By the Pricking of My Thumbs. Why does Amos Perry call the old lady by her first name,Alice? She’s very put out by it. I guess my real question is, what is he to her?
