Just how common are the pixel 8 screen issues?

I have a pixel eight that I got when it first came out and I’ve never used it regularly. As a matter of fact barely. I’ve kept the battery charged as you should and reset it because my intent was to sell it. But over time I’ve heard about the screen issues that apparently were more common with the eight series, and I’m wondering just how common was it or is it?

I’m in a position where I’m trying to sell a bunch of things due to budget but I would hate to sell this to somebody and then have the screen go out on them if they started using it daily. It would make me feel bad and also I could not offer a refund. Is this a common enough issue that I should just hold onto the phone and keep it as a spare, or sell it anyway?

Noooooo (Taylor farms meal)

It's been a while since I ordered this. I get these delivered because for health reasons I'm not able to get out to shop for myself. It's been a while since I got one of these because they used to stay out of stock. They popped up on my suggestion list today. I guess in the past because current issues weren't going on, I just never paid attention to where these came from 🫪

Yeah, I know, no lettuce in them or anything. But I had in the past tried to pay attention to Taylor farms stuff because they've had numerous recalls before. I don't know how this slipped past me a couple of times. If I'm not going to trust the lettuce from there anymore I'm sure not going to trust fish. Disappointing.

Aren't there ANY developers out there willing to build a no thrills apartment complex this more affordable? Anywhere?

I know that in the Atlanta area every time a new apartment complex or building is built it is always advertised as luxury or resort style or whatever. Swimming pool or pools, work out facilities, clubhouse, and more. You pay for that even if you don't use a single one of them. A lot for that.

Aren't there any developers out there who are brave enough to try something different? Build an apartment complex with well-built but basic apartments. No swimming pool, no workout room, and even go so far as no laundry facilities but instead make sure each unit has a hookup that someone can put their own machine in. Just apartments and nothing else. Knock a few hundred dollars a month off the rent compared to other places. I'll bet the place would fill up and be on a wait list.

I wonder how much money Taco Bell has lost because of the Taylor farms fiasco as opposed to other restaurants that weren't named?

I mean when you see the list online, a lot of places received the lettuce that is in question. Taco Bell was made a scapegoat, although no doubt in some areas places like Subway and McDonald's among many others probably got it too.

Still since this all began, I wonder how much money they've all lost in revenue from people who are just avoiding eating out in general to try to avoid it? Especially again since they were pointed at, Taco Bell? I know a couple of people who are still ordering from these places only just ordering things without lettuce type things on the items, but some people are just avoiding eating out all together as well as avoiding the bagged stuff at the stores.

Now they're talking about a second outbreak which some places are saying is kind of normal and others are saying could be a secondary source but they haven't gone very far with that yet. I mean it's hit too many states for it to be just one item.

I can't stand ranch dressing. There... I said it.

It's funny because with the world cup you saw all these posts and news stories about people who visited the US from Europe and how addicted they quickly became to ranch dressing, even to the point of trying to sneak it out in their luggage.

Am I the only person who can't stand ranch dressing? I mean everybody has different tastes. But I don't see the appeal. But then I like blue cheese dressing and I know some people hate that so 🤷🏻‍♂️

It's been half a century!

Blows your mind to think about it. I was digging through some old photos and found one that's kind of crappy quality wise but spruced it up as much as I could. Me as a kid. Preteen. 1976. We were having a dinner at my house and a couple of relatives had come over and we were watching the bicentennial 200th anniversary parade on TV, with me sitting next to my commemorative 1776 pillow.

And that was half a century ago 🫢😵‍💫

Esim available via eBay deals?

I admittedly have not used eBay for years. I keep hearing there is a $30 or so deal where you can get just talk and text and almost no data for a whole year on eBay. Can you buy it on there and get an immediate ESIM, or do they have to mail you a physical sim for that deal?

Are there people who sell on Facebook marketplace for other people who aren't able to themselves?

Maybe a dumb question, but years ago when eBay was at its peak I remember that there were people who would advertise that they would sell your stuff for you on eBay for a percentage of the sales, so you wouldn't have to go through all the hassle yourself. Are there people who do this for Facebook marketplace?

The reason - I'm handicapped and I'm going to need to start selling things while I wait for disability. I'm not comfortable inviting people to my house because I'm not able to get out to meet them in a public place. So is it common or are there people out there who for a percentage of the sales will actually pick up items from people and sell them for them on Facebook marketplace? How would you locally seek out people like that? Thanks for any answers.

Denied again in record time. Just venting, sorry.

Sorry... just venting. I have an attorney and they've been very good so far in terms of getting all of my needed documents uploaded for me, answering questions, and even talking to the rep assigned to my account who they said was friendly. But... first round, I was denied in TWO DAYS. Fair to say probably no one at SS even bothered with it the first round. Recently went in for round two... denied after just maybe less than two weeks. I know the odds of being accepted overall in the earlier stages, but even the attorney's office said they hadn't seen people get denied this quick. Double checked and everything has been sent in on time and per what they were asking for, and the attorney is blunt about they won't even accept a case unless they think it can win based on the details. I have numerous physical and mental health issues and cannot work at all at this point. So bluntly WTF is going on at SS? Has the recent upheavals in the last year really created that much chaos?

Again, sorry, just venting. I do not have a spouse or significant other. No family or friends to help. No secondary income to help. I luckily had some savings, but after nearly a year of this I'm running low. Have nowhere else to go but the house I'm in (paid for, fortunately, though it's a money pit with repairs needed). Does SS just want people like me to quit? Go live under a bridge? Jump OFF the bridge? What? I'm done. Just had to vent - sorry.

What to tell somebody who had a mini stroke.

Apologies if this is generic and probably more common sense. It might be a little long too so I apologize for that. I have an old co-worker who has helped me a bit with my own issues health-wise since the person who used to help me pass away. He comes over once or twice a week and does some quick things for me to help me out.

Well today, he had issues with his left side and some dizziness so he went to the ER. They did standard tests and a scan and told him that he had a mini stroke. Wanted him to spend the night and this is where the problems begin. He lives alone and has several dogs. Did not want to leave his dogs overnight. I'm not able to help him because due to my own health issues I'm not even able to drive anymore. So he insisted that he go home.

They wrote him a 30-day prescription for plavix, amlodipine, and chewable 85 mg aspirin. Now, being nice as I can, he's an older guy, very very country, a little slow sometimes with certain things, and absolutely hates doctors. When he got home I helped him over the phone figure out his prescriptions and there was a number because there were no aftercare instructions, and I told him to leave a message for the doctor to ask how many days he should take off of work. His work does involve some heavy lifting etc. He called the number and someone told him that since he chose to leave the hospital earlier than they wanted him to, they could not give him any advice. That should be illegal. But regardless, he has no medical advice to go by. I told him at the very least to make sure he did not do anything tomorrow, and with Monday being a holiday to also tell his bosses to take Tuesday off as well and that he would need to take it easy for a while. Perhaps even go as bad as they are to a quick clinic with his paperwork and see if they would at least advise him.

So this is where I guess the duh of course stuff comes in. Anyone in here whoever had a mini stroke... How many days did you stay home from work before going back to resume any level of activity? He's the very stubborn type but I can of course scare the hell out of him and tell him he could easily trigger a full stroke or aneurysm or something and keel over and that might slow him down. But all I knew to tell him is to immediately go in the medications, do not skip them and take them as instructed, and take it easy at least through next week. Any other basics that I should be telling him?

I will be reading every answer and even if I don't answer every one of them thank you ahead of time.

Do you even trust somebody that looks like a drug addict who's running this company?

So the Instagram dude did a post the other day talking about recent updates and the issue of a lot of accounts being shut down. I mean I realize I guess we have unfortunately got to the point where people just don't give a crap about their appearance online anymore. But in terms of impressions... do you trust a company being run by somebody who looks like a crackhead from an alley?

Yeah I get that they were long overdue to shut down the bots and fake accounts. He was making it sound like they've been successful even though more than ever I'm getting fake hooker bots liking my stuff on there. But then he gets on there looking like he's never seen a shampoo bottle or a comb, and it doesn't exactly give me confidence that the place is being run by people who have any clue what they're doing. In general does this make you lose even more confidence when you see somebody present themselves this way?

This might be a little bit long so I apologize ahead of time. I will read all replies even though I may not be able to answer all of them so thank you ahead of time.

So I have over the past few years thrown my back out a few times. Usually it's the typical thing where you move weird or do something, feel a sharp pain, and for the next week you suffer until you gradually get better. I also have issues with my feet and legs and one hip due to various health issues. I'm pretty much at home most of the time now and where slider sandal type shoes for the best comfort, but most of them aren't very comfortable because they just don't have a lot of support. It has been a struggle finding something that is comfortable.

Found a new pair on Amazon that advertised good arch support and extra cushioning on the bottom. Got them and at first it was like Xanadu. My feet felt wonderful. However, within a day or less, I started feeling uncomfortable at the bottom of my back and a little on the right, the areas where I would normally throw my back out when that would happen. Over the course of a couple of days the pain got worse. I sometimes have to use a cane around the house and had to start using it full time. For the last 3 days, the pain has been a lot worse although today is showing slight improvement. The foot and leg feels much better with these shoes but I was wondering about the coincidence with the shoes and then the back pain hitting at the same time.

Doing a little bit of AI research, it told me that this is actually quite common. The reason being there is such a difference over what I've been wearing, and the amount of cushioning on these new shoes, that basically the new shoes are pushing up on my frame and knocking things out of alignment, causing the back pain. Alternating between heat and cold wasn't really helping much until yesterday were cold is starting to help more. Now according to Mr AI doohickey, there's a chance my body will adapt to the new shoes but it's a process. I'm just curious if anybody else has had this happen before?

I hate this because this is the first time in a good number of years that I found shoes that did not hurt my feet or my leg. But I've literally been walking around the house like a 90-year-old with a cane real slowly. Of course like I said today there is a slight noticeable improvement so I don't know if it's just a fluke or if my body is indeed getting used to this new shoe. I'm just wondering if I should wait it out and see if everything adjusts fully, or just give up on the things and get rid of them and go back to my old shoes? Opinions appreciated.

For further detail it's not like shooting pain or spasms that you sometimes get with a back throw out. Just little sharp jabs when you move or try to completely straighten up. No pains down the leg or anything. Today I've been able to stand up straight without pain.

▲ 1 r/TikTok

Lately there's been a HUGE saturation of fake AI ads on TikTok that show young men who vary from very young and white to middle or late teens and black, making crocheted handbags. There's the same sad music in the background. Usually a pop-up blurb that shows an insult that someone allegedly tossed at them for what they do. In some cases the young men are crying and in others one of their parents are begging people not to scroll, and to support the kids. They all direct people to a very commercial looking website, which no doubt is some sort of a factory overseas that's making these.

They've started posting these so many times per day. One variation of them shows the boys making "book rugs" and the newest shows women getting ridiculed for making crucifixes, with their husbands begging people to support them. Once again almost all of them but the same background music, many times the same background scenes, just different AI generated people.

Maybe this shouldn't be shocking or scary, but based on the comments people are leaving in these things, 95% or more of them have no clue these are AI. And if you really watch them carefully you can pick it out. So if that many people are being fooled now, what's happening in the months and years to come as AI becomes that much better so quickly?

OK, I’ve been using Ring for years. I subscribe for videos storage etc. and am automatically billed on my credit card whenever the renewal comes up. Today when I opened the app to check a video, at the bottom is this orange box that says “your trial in (my town) ends in 27 days. Directing me to see how I can extend it and it goes to a page telling me the benefits you get for subscribing etc.

So are they not auto billing anymore? It says you cannot manage your subscriptions via the app, so are you supposed to call them and manually resubscribe or what’s going on?
