I’m looking for some advice because this situation doesn’t seem right.
My wife and I bought a brand-new 2026 Toyota Camry LE about two months ago. The car has been absolutely perfect—no warning lights, no drivability issues, no problems whatsoever.
We recently took it to our local Toyota dealership for a recall concerning a loose screw on the hybrid battery. They told us the repair would take about 2 hours and would be completed free of charge.
About 9 hours later, they called and said the recall had been completed, but when they started the car afterward, multiple warning lights came on across the dashboard. They said they didn’t know why yet, needed to keep the car overnight, and provided us with a rental car at no charge.
Fast forward to today, and they’ve now had the car for 5 days. They called and said they’re only about 50% done repairing whatever happened after the recall.
What concerns me is that the car was in perfect condition before they worked on it, and now it’s turned into a major repair. I’m glad they’re fixing it, but I’m worried about what happens after they eventually give it back.
My questions are:
Should I ask for documentation explaining exactly what went wrong after the recall was performed?
Should I ask for all diagnostic trouble codes and a list of every part that was replaced?
Is there anything specific I should inspect or test before accepting the vehicle?
If the same issue comes back a week or a month later, how should I protect myself?
Has anyone else had a dealership cause additional issues during a recall repair? If so, how did it turn out?
I’m not trying to make the dealership look bad because I understand mistakes happen. I just want to make sure I protect myself since this is a brand-new vehicle that had zero issues before the recall.
Any advice or experiences would be greatly appreciated.

If you are missing points part of the way and you email support then they won’t manually add anymore progression. Sucks! I only got 25k points but I was thinking I was gonna get 150k+
What was yall OTD and where you located?
