I wanted to do a space marine art with spec ops feel, something other than Raptors, and ended up with Black Vipers despite not knowing about them too well.

It’s also partly inspired by the new A24 movie ‘Onslaught’ trailer that showed a seemingly super soldier with this black painted face and covered mouth, I immediately decided to draw a nocturnian vanguard primaris to get the same energy.

The helmet was inspired by an old art of a RW marine who got shot by a random sister of battle.

The second warhammer art I ever did, decided randomly to do 30k World Eaters after listening to Angron audiobook while having an excruciating headache due to heatstroke XD

I’m normally not into the super fanatical chapters, but Angels of Iron is an exception. Mainly because it looks so ridiculous it’s awesome. I first came across them through their minis that appeared in the 4th Codex (2nd slide ) and genuinely thought it was a comical homebrew chapter, I mean imagine going into a battlefield looking like that XD. Not even Grey Knights, Sisters of Battle, or the Black Templars are this obsessed with purity seals.

There’s no information about them other than their habit of putting a shit ton of purity seals like how Night Lords put on flayed skins on their armor. There’s also this info about their chapter badge, The crossed keys of gold symbolise the keys to the Eternal Kingdom where mortals serve the Emperor beyond death, and the Emperor's authority to bind and loose souls to enter this realm.

I can see them as an Imperial Fists chapter, mainly because of their whole iron will theme and their obvious dedication in zealotry. But I would prefer if they’re a secret chapter made by the Inquisition from redacted gene seed, like one of their attempts to make a super anti daemon chapter, like Exorcists or Red Hunters.

When I first got into warhammer, I immediately fell in love with Dark Angels aesthetic (who doesn’t), but I wanted something different and decided to look around their successor chapters. Although color wise I prefer the Angels of Redemption, but AoA has the most decent and respectable lore Imho. Them being not as paranoid as their brother chapters, having healthier and maturer perspectives, plus they’re very reliable despite being the most vanilla DA successor.

Also made the fan art since I wanted to start taking warhammer art commissions.

Finally encouraged myself to try painting a warhammer mini, I’ve bought the Infernus marines starter set last month but spent weeks watching YT tutorials before I took the plunge. I painted this using everything from the starter set + chaos black primer I bought separately. Also, the chapter badge isn’t a decal, I shaved off the Ultramarines logo and drew that digitally in procreate.

I’m planning to paint the other two minis as other obscure chapters. I’ve decided Taurans for the next one but still undecided for the last one (feel free to give me ideas!)

Oh and please ignore that big mold lines on the leg, I honestly don’t know how I missed that.

Pretty straightforward, fire themed, bunch of pyromaniacs, love flamers and meltas, wore red armors, sounds boring and basic.

But hear me out, they have this badass tradition of replacing their teeth with sharpened rocks, so that every time they clenched their jaws, fire sparks come out of their teeth giving an illusion as if they breathe promethium. And yes, they used that as a close combat weapon too.

On top of that they have a lot of lore and some books too Iirc. This chapter easily won my favorite fire themed chapter, with Salamanders close behind them.

These are the chapters involved in the Third War for Armageddon. Seeing the current space marine arts in the new edition being just 3D primaris with different colors, I really appreciate the effort they put in these older arts, the artist took their time to give additional details like the unique weapon patterns and heraldry for each chapters.

So this chapter is pretty much unknown, other than their homeworld called Erwynn’s World. Recently in the 9th edition they’re lucky enough to be one of the random chapters that was picked to promote Primaris, which means they get a piece of lore. Their lore is pretty much about them getting massacred by Hrud invasion in their homeworld, and they get primaris privilege to rebuild their strength.

Anyway, I posted this mainly because I wanted to share these cool fanarts that are probably not known by many. The art on the second slide was drawn by XTGvv on Artstation, and the last one is by Pedro Senna.

So I believe this chapter has been brought up again between 8th and 10th edition? Their lore is still very minor, pretty much about them having identity crisis and launching a crusade to figure out who their real daddy is. Surprisingly they’re also lucky enough to get an official animation appearance (Tithes, eps 2), even though once again, their role is pretty sad and tragic.

Honestly this is one of the chapters that got me into Primaris design, the White Templars in the animation just looked freaking awesome. They also got their own subreddit and a small popularity growth after SM2 released their chapter badge.

There’s not a lot of info about them other than their notable involvement during Achillus Crusade and both Punisher Wars, and the fact that they’re a condescending bunch. And I love arrogant assholes.

I made this post mainly also because this chapter has been slandered by some individuals with made up infos. One of them is a certain YouTube video calling them “the shittiest space marine chapter”, framing them as… pretty much another Marines Malevolent. Claiming that they love doing exterminatus to innocent civilians and snitching their own ally like Leandros from SM1.

None of those are true. In fact they’re famous for being very good at their job, despite their annoying attitude.

There are some interesting things about this chapter, they have the same color scheme and almost identical logo as the Eagle Warriors chapter (Ultramarines 2nd Founding successor) on top of that, they’re also founded during M31 like other 2nd founding chapters.

The most lore I can find about them are from their involvement in third war for Armageddon. Their Dreadnought by the name of brother Damos led a pretty insane dreadnoughts vs killa kans battle and won. It’s also stated that before Damos turned into a Dreadnought, he was the commander of Angels Porphyr 9th company that was popular for being “a model of the devastator doctrine”. He was also leading a devastator squad during third war for Armageddon.

Their twin the Eagle Warriors have more lore and was known as being a part of Ultramarines legion void combat specialist during pre heresy era. But I prefer Angels Porphyr for their unique name and cooler chapter badge (Eagle Warriors have only the wing, without the skull).
