How long should a demo run last?

Some weeks ago i released the demo for my game. After some thousand demo-runs i see that the average play time of my demo is 38 minutes. (and also the wishlists start to grow, so the demo is at least not too bad)

"Corridor 13" is an anomaly spotting game and the Demo ends after Corridor 8 / 13. (It was 6 / 13 for the first hundreds of runs, than i changed it, because some players had too much luck with just try and error and finished the demo very fast without even saw anything interesting)

the full game will be about 1.5 or 2.0 hours i think. thats what i expect to achieve when its done. 2.0 would also be good for preventing people to play, end and refund it.

So, is 38 minutes of demo content good? or too much for a game with that limited amount of gameplay? What do you think?

Thinking about that 38 minutes, that may mean that some people just play it a few minutes and others play the demo waaay longer than 38min. But i dont have detailed statistics about that.

Optimizing my game

Additional to Occlision Culling, get everything whats not in sight really disabled, is another nice performance boost.
I didnt care at all about improving, but when my game Corridor 13 dropped under 100fps on my new machine I know i have to do some improvements. now it runs with over 400 fps. and with low settings even on 10+ year old machines :)

Antritt in 2 Wochen.

Playtester with GTX 1650 needed for Indy Game "Corridor 13"

Hi, I am an solo dev and my game "Corridor 13" is short before its demo release. At the moment, closed playtests are running, where i watch people play.

So.. I had an Playtester with Linux and an GTX1650. My game chanced into compatibility mode, which is very bad and laggy and happens only when the GPU does not support Vulkan.

But.. The GTX1650 supports Vulkan - as far as i know. So this could be a driver issue on my testers laptop or a bigger problem with the GTX1650 at all.

For this i need someone with an GTX1650 who could help me out there and test my game to see if it runs "normal (vulcan)" or in "compatibility (opengl)" mode.

One screenshot after the game start would be enough for me to see if its Vulkan or OpenGL. No need to watch or stream.

So, it would be great if someone will help me out here. Big thanks in advance!

Visual progress of "Corridor 13"

Today, exactly one year ago, I started working on Corridor 13.

I want to show you how the visuals of my game improved over time, while I am learning more and more about 3d stuff with Godot.

On September 25 I was thinking my game is nearly ready to release. (no joke!) Just some little improvements and a main menu and its done.
On February 25 I was thinking, in half a year (thats now) would be realistic to release.
On April 26 the steam page was created and says Fall 2026.
Today I am about to release a demo this month and I am not sure if I can hold on my release date on Friday, 13th November.

But, first closed playtests, where players streaming to me playing my game went very well. Just minor bugs I easily fixed between playtests and players that shat their pants or at least got the chills are a nice feedback i got.

Interesting is, how the expectations shift with the progress. As better I get it to look because of iterating and learning new stuff, the way more better I expect to look when its done.

Now I can ask some question to try to make you interact, but I just want to share my thoughts.
If you want to participate an an playtest, just DM me.
If you like what you see or like the outdated screenshots or trailer at the Steam page, feel free to wishlist. That mean a lot to me and keeps me motivated!

I tested some assets I paid for if they are AI

Today I got some game asset I paid for from someone I do not personally know. So I tested it and several AI detection tools say "It's AI"
So instead of instantly blame him I started to just check some other assets from my game I paid for in the past.

For example: Local guy near me made some pictures of Einstein, Curie, ... , and me. I am 100% sure, not AI. I saw progress of it how he did it.
AI Detection says, no AI, except the picture he draw of me. "Highly AI". Art style is very the same in all and he has a portfolio thats way older than AI image creation.

So because I am really, really, REALLY sure that must be a false positive, i tested some more assets from my game, even what I made myself aaaaand the "funniest" result was:

My kids draw some pictures, i photographed them, cut them for my game and several AI-detectors say its AI or likely AI at one picture. lol wtf is this? I dont think i raise up some robots.

What I see here is a ugly problem, since lots of people, especially on indy cummunities, are like "if there is AI involved, I dont buy and you deserve the biggest shitstorm and not a single penny of money". So as easy it is to decompile an indy game and check stuff, there could be nasty problems for devs.

What do you think here?

Reworked trailer for my psychological horror anomaly game "Corridor 13"

Hey everyone,

A few month ago I made the first trailer of my psychological horror anomaly game "Corridor 13" where the player woke up in an abandoned school corridor, trying to escape.

since then the game visuals and atmosphere changed A LOT in my opinion, so I decided to spend the last week to create a new trailer that fits the current project state.

the old trailer is still at the steam page, which you can see here: https://store.steampowered.com/app/4451040/Corridor_13/

If you like what you see, wishlist my game - this will push my motivation very much!

I would love to hear your thoughts about the trailer, also about the evolution of it :)

We all love Godot and I make my horror game game with it. But what you think? Is the use of the Godot logo in such an use case okay or not?

Spent around 6 hours scribbling, just for that one wall. worth the work?
Setting is an abandoned corridor/building, in an indie horror game, called Corridor 13.
