GKS-U 2027: Can the Korean language year be combined with 1st year of the bachelor's?

I’m a 2026 high-school graduate applying from KSA currently taking a gap year, and I’m considering applying for GKS-U 2027.

My main concern is the mandatory Korean language year. I understand that normally the structure is:

1 year Korean language training then 4–6 years bachelor's

But since I’ve already graduated and am taking a gap year, I really don’t want to spend another full year before starting my actual degree.

So I wanted to ask current/former GKS-U scholars:

Is there ANY possibility of doing the Korean language program alongside the first year of the bachelor's instead of as a separate year?

For example:

2027–28: Korean language + Bachelor's Year 1
2028–29: Bachelor's Year 2
etc.

Or is the language program strictly separate, meaning you cannot start your degree courses until you complete it?

I know TOPIK 5/6 can lead to an exemption, but I'm specifically asking about the possibility of combining the two if I don't already have TOPIK 5/6.

Would really appreciate answers from people who have actually gone through GKS-U, especially recent scholars. Thanks!

What’s something you wish existed to make living with migraines easier?

I’m interested in neuroscience and I’m trying to build something around migraines that could actually be useful, not just another awareness project.

For those of you who deal with migraines, especially while balancing school, applications, studying, and extracurriculars, what’s a problem you constantly run into that you wish someone would solve?

It could be anything: school, studying, keeping up with activities, getting people to take your migraines seriously, communicating with doctors, managing everyday life, etc.

I’d really appreciate hearing what you wish existed.

Best European universities with full scholarships for international bachelor's students?

I'm applying for Fall 2027 and need a full scholarship (tuition + living expenses).

What are the best universities in Europe that offer full scholarships to international Bachelor's students?

I'm interested in Computer Science, AI.

I'd especially appreciate recommendations from people who have received scholarships or know someone who has.

Thanks!

Best app/tool to organize scholarships, college applications, deadlines and essays?

I'm applying to a lot of scholarships, universities and competitions this year, and it's getting hard to keep track of everything.

I'm looking for something where I can organize:

  • Scholarship and college application deadlines
  • Required documents
  • Essay prompts and drafts
  • Recommendation letters
  • Application status (not started, in progress, submitted, accepted/rejected)
  • Follow-up emails
  • Calendar/reminders

What do you use, and what's worked well for you? If you have a template you'd recommend, I'd really appreciate it.

How strong would this EC be for T20/T10 admissions?

It's a selective international research mentorship program where I'd mentor two teams of high school students through a 10-week research program, lead four mentoring sessions per week, review assignments, and guide them in writing original research papers that may be considered for publication. It aligns directly with my intended major (neuroscience).

Would you consider this a strong leadership/research EC, or more of a solid supporting activity? Ans is it worth it?

Would you participate in a new international version of the AAN Neuroscience Research Prize?

The AAN Neuroscience Research Prize is only open to US high school students. It got me wondering whether there would be interest in a similar prize open to students worldwide.

The catch is that it would be brand new, without the reputation of established competitions.

Would that stop you from applying?

If not, what would convince you that it was worth your time? (Well-known judges, detailed feedback, publication opportunities, university partnerships, etc.)

I'm genuinely curious what would make students trust and participate in a new competition.

For neuroscience students outside the US: what opportunities do you wish existed?

I’m curious about the experiences of high school students interested in neuroscience, especially those outside the US.

What do you feel is missing the most?

  • Research opportunities?
  • Mentorship from neuroscientists?
  • Neuroscience competitions?
  • Hands-on projects?
  • Something else?

Would love to hear what students and researchers think, especially from regions where neuroscience opportunities are more limited.

Last minute research summer opportunities

I'm an international high school student applying to college this fall and I was really hoping to do a research program this summer.

Unfortunately, I've already been rejected from a few programs, and most of the others either don't offer full financial aid or only cover a small portion of the cost, which I can't afford.

SO Does anyone know of any research programs that are still accepting applications for Summer 2026 and offer full financial aid for international students?

If there aren't any programs left, I'd also really appreciate suggestions for professors/labs that might still take high school students remotely this summer.

Reapplying to Lumiere for Summer Cohort II with FULL Financial Aid at final deadline, do I have a chance?

Hey everyone,

I need some urgent advice. I got rejected from Lumiere before. I want to reapply for Summer Cohort II, but the final deadline is tomorrow (June 21) and I need 100% full financial aid (through the Lumiere Foundation).

so i have a qsn:

Has anyone successfully gotten a full financial aid scholarship from Lumiere during the final regular round or is the aid budget usually dry by now?

Cause the people i know who got in said they only got in by applying early. At this final deadline, is it even worth rushing the application tonight, or are the spots basically gone?

International Student in Saudi Arabia Without Tahsili Seeking Admission to Saudi Universities

Hey guys, I’m an international senior currently residing in Saudi Arabia and studying the Saudi curriculum. I’m aiming to apply to Saudi universities for 2026, but I’ve heard that the Tahsili exam is required. Is that true, even if I have a 1410 SAT, 100% Qudurat, and 100% in school
