Question for gamer streamers - Do you rotate games? Or focus on one game until you finish?

Hello Game Streamers -

I'm a new streamer on YouTube, and as I stream games, I find myself rotating through games, but I wonder if that will hurt getting subscribers, views? Or is it more helpful?

Thanks for any input!

Getting separate footage from my webcam

I'd like to record my gameplay separately from my webcam so that when I create shorts for YouTube (from a clip of a stream), I can move my webcam video to a better sport in a vertical format.

I did see the plugin Source Record, but I'm wondering if that's the only way to do it - have two separate recordings - one of the entire gameplay and another of just the webcam?

Thank you!

Replay Buffer question

Hello all,

I'm very new to streaming games and I understand how the Replay Buffer works in OBS. In fact, I want to use it so I can take clips of funny moments to later use as shorts for YouTube.

The issue I have is that I don't play the game from OBS. I have OBS streaming my game, of course, but I play the game natively in its own window.

I have set up a hot key on my Stream control deck. It works fine to save a replay buffer clip.

However, I have to be IN OBS to let the hot key actually work.

Just wondering what a good workflow would be.
Do I have to quickly switch to OBS, THEN hit the hot key, THEN return to my game?

Or is there something else I can do?

Thank you!

Question for YouTube users of StreamerBot - your favorite uses of it?

To my fellow YouTube users of Streamerbot -

What are your favorite uses and/or commands?

Right now, I have some typical commands (e.g., !lurk, !channel, etc.) and some timed commands (e.g., hydrate, subscribe, etc.)

I'd eventually like to have a loyalty/redeem feature and I'll research that, as I've seen somebody named u/Haunter share some valuable information!

But if you're willing to share your best practices, commands, etc... it would be most appreciated!

Did a test command !discord and it won't show up in chat. Including screenshots.

Hello,

I followed a tutorial by Nutty on YouTube.

I downloaded, installed SB.
I connected my account as broadcast. I created a YT account for my mod bot and made it the bot account.

I also connected OBS. as he instructed.

I created a !discord command (please see screenshots below) and if I right click on the trigger, and "Test trigger" it works fine...

But if I type !discord in chat, I get no response. Although I DO get the response from Streamlabs that I have.

Do I need to remove Streamlabs as a moderator?

Thanks for any help!

I stream only on YouTube (right now), will Streamerbot be valuable for me?

I know that many tutorials I see are geared towards Twitch; I'm just wondering if there is anybody here who just uses it on YouTube and still finds it a valuable alternative to Streamlabs.

Thanks for any input you're willing to share! :)

The !addpoints command returns "Cannot find...." username.

Hello,

When my mods or I try to !addpoints username X amount of loyalty, we only get "Cannot find username."

We have tried this with each other, with other members, etc.

We have tried with the @ symbol, without the @ symbol; we have tried logging out of cloudbot, relogging back in. We have tried making an alias for !addpoints.

I'm just wondering if anybody has ever encountered this issue and/or has some recommendations.

Thank you! :)

OBS keeps forgetting my web cam.

Hello all,
I have OBS on my Windows 11 machine. My webcam is a Logitech c922.

For some reason, the OBS isn't remembering my webcam each time I start up the program. I have the webcam as a "Video Capture Device" but it doesn't show up in the screen, even if I Deactivate it and Activate it.

I have to go into my Windows > Settings > Privacy & Security > Camera, and let OBS have access each time.

Thanks for any guidance you can offer! :)

P1S will print test line but won't print actual project

Edit to add: Okay, after updating the firmware again, it seems to work fine now.

Hello all,

I admit it's been a few weeks, maybe even two months, since I've used my P1S.

Today, I started to print a project and all was going well (I did the firmware update), and it ran the test line fine (as shown in photo), but when it moved to start printing the actual project (a Gridfinity base), it would go through the motions, but no filament came through.

Because it had been so long, should I have done something first?

The humidity in the AMS2 shows 47%. Could it be the humidity? If so, why would the test line print fine? That is what confuses me.

Thank you for any guidance you can offer. :)

Cable management w/UPS

Hello all,

I have an uninterruptible power supply (UPS) and I want to do some desk management, but not sure the best way.

I'm including a photo (pardon the dust!)

The UPS really is only used for my Windows PC and my Mac Mini (and their monitors) so I can have time to turn off the computers in case of a power outage.

However, I'm not sure the best way to handle it with cable management.

I'm thinking it's just going to have to sit on the floor, as I know it is too heavy to sit in a cable tray, etc.

I'd love ideas from those folks who also have a UPS.

Thank you!

Streaming Latency Issue - OBS & YouTube

Hello all,

I'm trying to set up streaming using OBS and streaming to YouTube.

If I use OBS to start streaming on YouTube (after connecting my YT account), the latency is like 30 seconds.

If I "Go Live" on YouTube and get a passkey to paste into OBS, the latency does get down to about three seconds (which I'm EXTREMELY happy with)

If I have to go through YouTube "Go Live" to get low latency results, I'm fine with it, but I am wondering if there is a way to get similar results going through OBS in case I want to someday also stream through Twitch and YouTube.

I'm including a photo of my current settings.

Question about microphone and headset

Hello all,

I'm thinking about trying some streaming of the Steam games I play. I pretty much have everything I need except two of the most important - the microphone and headset.

I currently have a Gtheos Captain 300 headset which I very much like.

However, it comes with its own microphone and I'm wondering if it would be worth it to invest in a separate headset and mic? Or would this suffice at least long enough to see if this is a hobby I want to pursue?

And if so, what would be some good recommendations?

Thank you!

Hello all,

My setup:
I have a Windows 11 PC that I primarily use for gaming, with its own monitor.
I have a Mac Mini that I use for pretty much everything else, with its own monitor.

Right now, I have two keyboards and two mouses (mice?) on my desk. Quite a hassle!

What I'd like:
Keep two monitors - one for the Windows gaming and the other for the Mac Mini.
I don't want BOTH monitors to show the same system. One will only show Windows 11 and the other will only show Mac Mini.
One keyboard to control both systems; one mouse to control both systems.

I'm looking at KVM switches, and I understand the basic principle of them, but I guess my concern is: will my Windows 11 keyboard be understood by my Mac Mini. I know Apple systems are notoriously picky when it comes to input devices.

So, questions, please:

  1. Is there a certain keyboard I want to look for that both my Windows 11 and my Mac Mini will recognize?
  2. Do you have any recommendations for KVM switches that fit my needs?

Thanks very much for any help you can offer!

Today I tried to log into House Flipper 2. It froze and then crashed with the message below.
I tried other Steam games and the same issue.

I reset my Windows 11 PC back to default settings.
I reinstalled Steam.
Still no luck.
I'm running 16 gb ram with a graphics card that has 8 GB of ram on it. Not sure if that information helps.

I'd appreciate any help. Thank you!
