I recently decided to create a woman’s Bumble account just to see what things actually look like from the other side.

I didn’t think much of it. I downloaded one of those faceless photos from the internet and created a new account. I didn’t want anyone to actually see my profile—I just wanted to get a sense of what the men on dating apps are like.

OMG. I was genuinely shocked.

Within one SINGLE minute of creating the account, I had already received more than 10 likes. Let that sink in.

And this wasn’t even a convincing profile. There was no name, no details, no prompts, and not even a single photo showing a face. Anyone who spent more than two seconds looking at it could probably tell it was fake.

Yet the likes just kept coming.

I knew Bumble would probably ban or block the account pretty quickly, so my only goal was to quickly skim through the other men's profiles on bumble.

The account lasted maybe two minutes after which I deleted.

In those two minutes, I got more than 25 likes.

If you’re a guy on dating apps who isn’t getting many matches or likes, I hope this gives you some perspective. It’s very possible that the problem isn’t necessarily your profile, you may simply not be getting shown to that many women in the first place and women there are overwhelmed with options.

And honestly, it seems like being on the other side isn’t exactly easy either. A woman can easily get 1,000+ likes within a couple of days, and then you’re left with the impossible task of going through all of them to find even a single person who might actually be compatible.

Dating apps seem like a completely different experience depending on which side of the screen you’re on.
