Is this too excessive for my setup? XD

Not sure if this is the best community to post on but here i go:

All these elements weren't necessarily meant for a place to write, i collected this stuff over the past year or more and happen to just become a place for me to write!

I noticed I had a hard time focusing on writing in general, even if It's just a hobby, it bothers me that I go on my phone a lot and needed a little corner to feel more immersed and less distracted by my actual computer or smartphone.

The typewriter works well, but definitely needs cleaning.

The typewriter is an Olvetti dora from 1970 I believe.

The images are not Ai! My samsung phone puts this weird plasticy filter over all my fotos, and It can't seem to be turned off.

if you have questions or advice or anything, cool i guess.

Work in progress!

Programs used: Blender for the background scene. Toonsquid for animation.

So i am planning to animate a full little scene to practice 3D modeling and 2D character movement, the only problem being I didn't make a storyboard to know what even happens in the scene, so I have absolutely no idea what i am doing.

I am planning to film myself doing movements, taking what i learned and just have fun. Normally I make multiple storyboards and pick the best one, but I was just so exited for the project so i skipped it, which is not a good idea probably.

But maybe some advice or feedback can help. what ya'll think, not a lot going on, and maybe too little to comment on, but i just wanted to post anyway! :3

Would like feedback and criticism on my challenge pack!

I feel like i post a lot here, I don't want to come over attention seeking.

I just finished the 4th level of my old map's revamp, and feel like the pacing is too quick, the metaphors or meaning don't come over well.

i feel like my old map was quite a slow burn, which is good for making the player care, but also quickly lose interest.

If ya'll are interested here is the challenge pack:

https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3727181176

The pack isn't done, but ways to improve and general things would come a long way!

thank you

Hey, would love some opinions or feedback. :3

I don't want to leave a whole monologue about my world that nobody will even read. Visually I think it captures what I am going for pretty well, at least i think it does. but the world is incomplete and much is still a work in progress. but since it's in the rules I will tell a little bit about the world.

NO AI generated content is used ever in my artwork, nor ever will.

On the third image there is a map of both islands, the left island is called the hills or ''Sett klavel'' In their language, Apech. The right island is called The Peaks, or ''Sett Plav''.

(Apech is both used to refer to the language, so as the nation itself. )

In 1958 The nation of Sett Klavel and Sett Plav had a nuclear exchange, making most parts of both islands uninhabitable, with the only surviving inhabited territory being a small Klavian nation called Apech.

With no other surviving nations, The Apechians claimed dominance over the entirety of both islands.

trough the years the Check+ mega-corporation was formed, and started planting warehouses and factories, mass producing electronics.

By 1986, Check+ replaced all local shops and businesses, having the entire economy and civilian income in their grasps.

Life is rough for most people, as pay is low and work is repetitive.

Feedback, questions or criticism greatly appreciated :3

NEED FEEDBACK!!!

Around a year ago I made a little challenge pack called ''Have i been here before'' And I wasn't happy with the result so I am revamping it.

the first three levels of the revamp are online.

I would love for ya'll to play the first few levels of both, just to see which one you guys would like more just to know what to fix technically, metaphors and writing-wise.

NEW ONE: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3727181176

OLD ONE: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3606308892

I also managed to fix the lighting issue in the revamp, at most parts of the levels it's fine but if at some point it's not, Please say!

Need feedback >:3

I am still new to animation, I have been animating for about a year or two but never practiced any principles and didn't do it often.

I always had the plan to animate some scenes i wrote for my characters, but never came around to it.

the first one is from yesterday, the second one from around two weeks ago.

There is still a lot to improve on, and i am aware the shapes aren't very consistent, i will see if i can fix that with the second sketch.

How to i make this the thumbnail for my challenge?... on linux mint?

So on my old computer I used Steamchangepreview to change the thumbail image for a scrap mechanic steam creation, but now that i moved to linux i noticed that the zip file doesn't work, maybe it does, but i just get an error ''archive type not supported'', Cool.

i spent a big chunk of my day making this poster in blender, that i can't use.

is there any way around it? thanks! :3

working on a new challenge!

Around a year ago i started work on a challenge pack called ''Have I been here before'' on my windows laptop, long story short, i wanted to revamp it since i genuinely wasn't happy with how it turned out, but had to move to PC since my laptop's motherboard literally failed.

the PC i am using doesn't have a graphics card, so that means i am building my map with no dynamic lights, every setting on low and on an annoyingly slow framerate.

Anyway, Around a month ago i listened to Pink Floyd's dark side of the moon for the first time, and became a big inspiration for this revamp. My writing and storytelling has improved since my last map too, and don't want to improvise everything.

would love to hear your thoughts!

CHECK+™ Work purpose terminal, 1986.

Working on an improved version of this model since it could use some fixing up!

ΔUEČӨБE ӨΔЧEБΔP
This is a computer terminal from my fictional world!

About the world:
Left island: The Peaks

right island: The Hills

''After a large scale nuclear exchange in 1958, most parts of both continents have become uninhabitable. The last political party, situated on the left side of the Hills, claimed dominance over the entire planet. Digging up resources and mass producing electronics, forming the Check+ mega corp.''

(there is more to the story, but most is undone, and wanted to keep it short)

the last two images are not blender.

what ya'll think?

First version of a character i wrote, and wanted to bring her to life.

I am not happy with this design, and doesn't match the vision i had one bit.

simplistically she would be the kind of person who is observant and quiet, in her own bubble all the time, but also awkward and not good with people, which does not fit this design from what i had in my head.

Her name is Floor, and really wanted to go for more alt clothing for her design, yet i never came around with it, and didn't really finish it since the drawing is not shaded.

for another character this would work great, may revamp it a few times until i get what i am proud of, but this design as a different character, would not be a bad idea.

what y'all think? :3

a few alphabets: ΔUEČΦ! ߇ոϥոψǫυcɚ!

Important to say i am very new to this, and maybe a bit stupid / uneducated when it comes to this, but i have been working on a script for my worldbuilding project, and just wanted to share!

I first wanted to design a custom font that looks like the Cyrillic looking script, but ended up just taking existing symbols from Greek, Latin and Cyrillic alphabets that looked most like the example one, so it probably doesn't count as a custom script to be honest.

the first two examples are in Apechian, all the images are made by me.

I don't have a clear language system set up, so most of what i type and write is just gibberish made to look nice!

sorry if this is low effort, but I personally like what i came up with, but you don't have to! :3

u/ReasonableReason549 — 12 days ago

It's not accurate one bit to actual IBM tape-readers, there are a lot of details and components missing, and some things are out of place but i hope it still looks like it!

I am not experienced in computer history of any kind, I just really like how these mainframes look visually.

This is just a prop for a little scene i want to make, perhaps animate! I am somewhat new to blender, i struggle a lot with topology.

what y'all think? :D

u/ReasonableReason549 — 15 days ago

These are mostly improvised, especially A.

sorry for making this so long, i bet nobody will be interested` in this, but hopefully it will, and may inspire people to make their own alphabet or script!

A year ago i started one of my first world-building projects.

around now I write mostly/ only slice of life and characters, but i wanted to try something different, and started picking up the abandoned project from a year ago.

around that time i got really in to computer history, and started designing and drawing all these weird computer mainframes and things, it being a main subject in the story and world.

i still am, but mostly visually instead of the actual technical stuff.

anyway, i wanted to make a language for this world, and the best place to start would be the script i guess. i am not planning to create a whole language from scratch, that is way too much work and brainpower XD.

anyway, just making a showcase!

A has absolutely no thought behind it, other then trying to make it look pretty.

B I already came up with a year ago, but never wrote down how it works so i forgot how you read it, but it was something like a combination of 10 1's and 0's mean a word, and then It's two words per ''bar'', the purpose of the language is simple wired communication via military-purpose computers.

so for example the combination of 10 1's and 0's can mean ''attack'' and the next word something like ''incoming''

C and D are just scripts, haven't made a language with it yet.

if there are any questions about the languages, or have feedback/ advice, that would be appreciated!

i made a template so you can make your own one too!!!

(just to avoid confusion, on the example page, the name of the languages is different from what is written down under it)

*(ALSO: one more thing: I would love to tell more about the world itself, but Lot's of things are undecided and not done, so; sorry for being vague!)

The first looks like a robot walking, and the hands are very inconsistent, there is no impact and feels flat, the hand movements are also inverted :/

This is my second walk cylce on the span of a week, the first gif is the most recent!!

the first one feels inconsistent while the second one is more static. observing and a few tutorials and lot's of practice will come a long way!!!

I feel aware about this one, but feedback helps a lot :D

u/ReasonableReason549 — 16 days ago

hey guys! I usually write and draw from reality, and most my settings have some kind of real world aspect to it.

i wanted to try and write my own world for once! i just started writing down some ideas, and decided i want to make my own alphabet!

i didn't want to go all whimsical and fantasy-like, maybe something that was more recognizable.

I should probably post this on a community dedicated on language instead of fictional worlds, if this isn't appropriate for this subreddit, i can delete this post!

i encourage everyone to do the same, i had a LOT of fun, and improves my actual handwriting too!

the top text is my reference point, then the red are letters that don't exist in the alphabet, then the green is a made up random sentence, and then the yellow text beneath is the average handwriting of a civilian.

i am still quite new to world building, i usually write characters and slice of life, so this is very new to me. would love to tell more about the world itself, but i am not done writing it, and lot's of things are undecided.

curious what you guys think! (again, if this doesn't fall under world building, i can delete this post)

u/ReasonableReason549 — 17 days ago

I have like a bjillion different textures.

and it makes it worst that this hallway is made up in segments, so i already joined everything together (which was probably very stupid of me)

and now i can't find the specific texture, because there are no parts to click on.

any easier way to sort textures, or at least de-join the whole thing? this scene is an absolute mess and i have no idea what i am doing :/

thanks :]

u/ReasonableReason549 — 20 days ago

i am not sure if this is even the right subreddit to post this, but i will try anyway!

I would not say that i am new to animation, i have been animating for about two years, yet i have only been animating small movements (like a character's eye moving etc) but never actual larger movements like walk cycles.

i decided if i want to create my own animated short film, i needed to start learning.

criticism helps me improve, so why not here?

this was animated on 6 or 7 frames per second (i can't really remember).
