I think i might own a lost media bomb XD

I feel a little silly being here. I won't state my age but this computer is significantly older then me, A few years ago I wanted to make this film project, And needed an older computer for authenticity,

I never finished or will finish this project, Since I realized I like animation and drawing a lot more.

Anyway, This computer made me fall in love with collecting stuff like this, I don't know the exact model but it's definitely pre-2000s.

I always thought it was strange that a huge portion of the disk space was already occupied, while there were barely any programs on it.

Apparently, The previous owner of this computer did in fact not delete any of their j-pegs or gifs...

there are over ten THOUSAND unorganized images on this machine, all mostly entirely different. All pictures they probably got online from websites that are most likely completely gone. I haven't even seen a percent of what is on this and I feel a little overwhelmed.

I'm not sure how much these images even matter, And I know for sure there are people on this subreddit who also have stuff like this? because usually when buying an older PC, i expect the disk to be completely wiped, But this owner didn't.

Looking at the dates, the first images were from 1998, And the newest 2005.

I am not really asking anything, just wanted to share. been thinking of using ethernet to send all the images to my modern PC, but even then i wouldn't know what to do with them.

thanks for reading!!!

Edit: i forgot to say what kind of pictures i have seen so far: mostly real life stuff, like stadiums, hotels and schools. There were a whole bunch of foto's of what to me looks like houseparties, If i ever share this images i won't share those because they contain real people of course. Also lot's of web icons and animated early3D/pre-render stuff, I should have shared some but i forgot, sorry.

edit 2:

I physically interacted with the person who sold me the PC, I was at their house, when i brought the machine back in the car, We didn't chat, the interaction lasted around 10 minutes, and he also deleted their profile after i arrived home, And i don't think i can even reach them anymore.

I regret posting this, Thought i just wanted to share something cool, but now everyone is saying what I should do with these images. This is still a computer I bought and i just need a moment to digest this, And seeing all these comments is very overwhelming and making me very anxious, and which i could just turn them off, which i will prob do after this edit is done, sorry, genuinely.

I feel a little lost and don't know what I should focus on.

This is my first time on the subreddit, And have no idea how people might act to this post.

I feel a little silly being here, Since I see so many people online who dedicate their time in to learning this language, with so much care and passion, While i am over here just doing barely anything.

I am from the Netherlands, I speak both English and Dutch.

While learning Japanese is very popular In countries like America, here it is not. i don't know anyone in real life that can't even tell Japanese and Chinese apart. anyway.

I've always wanted to learn Japanese, And i have been since January.

I have made a document with a big list of kanji, the problem being is that I look up kanji on the online dutch to Japanese dictionary, Take those kanji and not learn them.

I think by now I know roughly around 50-80 kanji, But there are so many that just won't stick for some reason.

I know all hiragana and around half of katakana.

I have a really bad habit of using google translate when I just want results fast, but since dutch is a language with lots of proverbs and metaphors, It just doesn't translate well, And then write down a kanji that isn't very useful or well used.

I write a lot when I am away from home, I like writing because I can physically interact with paper, and feels nice in my hand.

I am a person, That is scared of learning new things. I procrastinate, dream and avoid a lot. And that's probably why i haven't been making any progress the last month. But i still love this Japanese to bits!

I am just a little lost and it's very hard to put to words what that feeling is, I don't really know what I should be focusing on or learning.

Like staring at a blank page, wanting to write but not knowing what to write, that feeling?

Not sure about the picture quality, But if you could read some of the silly things i wrote, and providing feedback on what i am doing wrong or right is appreciated. Sorry for the long post!

Thank you so much!

Exit door

Hello.

I had an Idea for a game once based off the feeling of Déjà vu, A player is set in an infinite office with narrow hallways, small rooms and strange floor plans.

With bits of story and metaphors throughout the looping rooms, Building tension and mental elements.

I have no name for this project, I have never even worked in a 3D game engine before. So i guess the idea is more of a fantasy then reality for now.

feedback appreciated! made in blender 5.1, by me.

What do i even do? XD

A small animation practice i made, but it really sucks and is lazy.

Background, characters and all art by me. NO ai content was ever used, not ever will be used in my work.

Bit of a rant incoming, hope that's fine

I am a very ambitious person.

And what i mean with that is that i dream a lot, And forget that i literally aren't making any progress.

I have been writing, drawing, 3D modeling for so long now, And i am just fantasizing about all these unique projects, And the moment I even put a word on paper, or even start a sketch I already give up.

I have been writing these two characters called Mijs and Saiet, And when it comes to writing dialogue I just can't, brain empty.

Same with animation, I have it clear in my head and then the final result sucks.

So yeah, I could write a book; but I don't read often and am a visual person. could do comics But those take long as well, could just take very small steps but i am very impatient and have been waiting long enough.

Anyway, Just needing some feedback on my work, I already kind of know what i'm doing wrong and know i can improve! I'm not giving up animation just yet, I haven't given it a chance yet!

Not sure why i wrote all this, Just hoping someone might relate!

thank you for reading, and sorry for being vague, just asking for feedback!!! :D

let me explain to you the last four hours of my life...

blender. :)

The Netherlands has been getting quite the heatwaves, That means going outside is stepping in to a sauna, I am free from school for another week and the only thing i really do is stay inside, draw, write and 3D model.

Another thing with this heat, is that it's probably been effecting my electronics.

I've been working on a point and clicker game, and just wanted a few sprites i can use for the different rooms! easy enough, I started up blender and got to work! everything fine! running smooth (as smooth as you can get without a graphics card)

An hour goes by, And i notice way more lag then usual, But it was only at certain angles.

I was making a cool hallway!, just a small little hallway with a fire exit door, Or i guess i was when the first crash happened. no crash message or anything, just completely froze. all of the shortcuts didn't work, except for alt+printscreen+B, which restarts the pc.

and i did, and i opened blender: everything gone, Knowing it might be auto saved somewhere i look: No auto saves, just the first time i saved.

the funny part is that i saved literally every 5 minutes, and yet it just didn't work.

Okay, i started again, and it actually turned out better then before! i got exited, i was listing to music, in the zone, having an amazing time until when saving... the same thing happened.

shortcuts: now working. completely frozen. I guess restarting the PC is better then shutting it off i thought. But this time, instead of having to start at my first save, the whole file just didn't exist anymore, and when i found it somewhere in my 3D models folder: It says the file was corrupted. so not only have i lost my progress, I have also just lost the entire file all together.

the only thing i still have is this screenshot :/

sorry for being sharp, I am just tired and very annoyed.

I am not very smart with computers, And am still new to blender.

I don't know what to do, so the question stands: How do I prevent this from accuring in the future? (other then buying a graphics card that i can't afford), I don't think i can get those files back, But there could be way to prevent this?

I know this question may be vague, But i hyave no other way of explaining this, I know it's more of a rant, But i hope i can at least get some advice or help!

thank you.

.

Some stuff from my collection of electronics!

wanted to draw my oc's in these pictures, ended up never happening, and people dislike antro animal designs for some reason.

anyway, any questions are appreciated, I mostly use this stuff for hobby, I try to get most out of everything I own.

the commodore is a commodore 64 ultimate, And came out in 2025 i believe, But it's practically the same thing as a 80s commodore, just a bit more modernized with more features and stuff.

I am very grateful for everything I own, And maybe a bit guilty since some people can't afford luxuries like these. thanks for reading though!

making a trailer for my map in SM, No idea what I am doing. feedback appreciated!

My plan is to make a short animated trailer for my scrap mechanic map called ''have i been here before'', And i have been writing a lot, already have over 60 different rooms designed but i guess i hit a wall, I've become too much of a perfectionist and need some constructive feedback!

I already have a short ''demo'' thing ready, I already have gotten some feedback on the map before, but it is just to set the mood, And the real map will be much more interesting!

I don't want to advertise anything, but here is the link to the map if you peeps are interested :3

Traditional Apechian clothing! (and more)

You don't have to read all of this, just for the folks who are interested! also: constructive feedback is heavily, HEAVILY appreciated!!!

(NO genai is ever used in my projects now ever will)

note that the history of this world is in a very underdeveloped stage!

Some traditional clothing that the fellow wolves wore/wear:

Military outfit: 1720 - 1960*: These types of outfits were worn by Apechian commanders and military figures throughout the nation, But has no longer been in use since the 1959 after the nuclear outbreak, leaving basically one nation left in the whole world, with no nation to fight or land to claim, this suit has been used for a different purpose: being yearly parades.

Land-worker outfit: 1790 - 1960*: This oufit would be worn by middle class farmers and landowners. After all the land being purchased by larger companies in the early 70s These suits disappeared, being worn by the older population.

higher class outfit: 1960 - present: worn by people with much economical or regional power. the tie is a reoccurring theme with these outfits :3

If you guys don't mind, i just copy and pasted some stuff from a different post, so if your interested, here is the full picture (sorry for bad writing i guess)

art I made for world building: Apech. (Read desk if want)

I don't expect anyone to actually read this, i sliced it in chunks so it is at least bearable to get trough.

I feel like I post way too often on this subreddit, I guess I'm just looking for general feedback??

I have been working on this project for around two months and just want to get it out a little more since it's my first time doing this, And just want some input to be able to know what i am doing right or wrong.

NO GENAI IS USED NOR EVER WILL!!! ALL ART MADE BY ME USING SKETCHBOOK APP AND BLENDER 5.1!!

READ THIS IF WANT:

This project formed around a year ago, but only started working on it two months ago. Right now it's a soviet inspired dystopia with visual art inspired by communist newspapers, flats, props and electronics from the 60s to 80s.

I write a lot of slice if life, so working large scale is hard. for now I'm still working on shaping the system and general history, then culture can be written on that, Since realism is important i guess.

5: LAST NOTE:

Most this project isn't done, and there is still a lot i haven't told or have at least simplified, so questions are appreciated! I wanted to keep it shorter, since having a whole book worth of text will turn people away, hope this was at least interesting.

i also have a few other posts that are more specific, so you can just go on my profile and see them! :3

Which version of my script* looks better visually?

First of all: This subreddit is full of so many creative and clever people, which I am not. I just want to create a simple little thing i can remember easily and isn't meant to impress.

I have already made a small dictionary, and am planning to expand on it!

Version one, I have no idea what i was thinking. I wanted to be able to type everything on a computer to make my art process easier, So i took Cyrillic, Greek and Latin letters and put them in randomly. my plan with version 2, was to keep their some of their original sounds to make it less confusing to people who actually speak Greek or Russian.

Some people on reddit people told me my script was an eyesore, so i hope the second version is prettier.

the script only uses uppercase letters, and uses hooks before a word to mark it's a name or start of a sentence.
feedback, ideas and stuff appreciated.

please tell me which one you guys think is cooler?

for clearance if someone gets confused: bottom alphabet is the english alphabet, top is my script.

one mistake i made is that on version 2, the russian Б should be: Ƌ

West-Apechian add folder from 1986!

important to say all of these advertisements are fictional and in-world and don't exist, and aren't promoting anything!!! >:3

first image: the cans on the red background, the ocean image and furniture image are picked from the internet, i checked if they are copyrighted but you can never be sure, so... eh?

the rest of the images are all made by me using sketchbook app and blender 5.1!!!

For clearance: The language is something i do write down, and am in the works of a small dictionary for it.

The alphabet includes russian, greek and cyrillic letters but don't keep their original sounds!

I also made a few other posts about Apech if you guys are interested!

NO genai was ever used in any of my projects, nor ever will!!! all of the images are made by me using the sketchbook app and blender 5.1!!

---

read this only if you want to!:

^(advertising is very common in West-Apech, you will see adds everywhere: On TV, newspapers, flyers and posters, everywhere.)

^(Most wolves can't afford basic medicine or even food. more then half of the population can't even afford a vehicle to get to work.)

^(So, the government places ads everywhere to remind the wolves that luxuries are just in reach if you work hard enough. the whole nation runs on the mindset of ''if you work hard and save enough money, You get more in life later.'' This culture has developed for around 30(ish) years since Apech became world-dominant, and this didn't develop just naturally: Apech adds like some of these helped a ton.)

^(and of course that mindset just keeps the large nation running if people just continue to overwork.)

^(Last post I really have been picturing this world as very dystopian, while that is true: I would love to get in to the positive sides of the culture and people at some point!)

-

about picture 1:

There really is only one major company that owns everything, and that is named Check+. Check+ owns around 94% of all offices and IT, any service, factories and anything that manufactures products, warehousing, shops and even parts of the law system like courts or police stations.

World building: General / history

^((Apech is both used to refer to the language, so as the nation itself.) )

^(In 1958 The nation of Sett Klavel and Sett Plav had a nuclear exchange, making most parts of both islands uninhabitable, with the only surviving inhabited territory being a small Klavian nation called Apech.)

^(With no other surviving nations, The Apechians claimed dominance over the entirety of both islands, being literally the only nation left in the world.)

^(trough the years the Check+ mega-corporation was formed, and started planting warehouses and factories, mass producing electronics and other goods.)

^(By 1986, Check+ replaced all local shops and businesses, having the entire economy and civilian income in their grasps.)

^(Life is rough for most wolves, as pay is low and work is repetitive.)

FEEDBACK ON WRITING APPRECIATED! :DD

sorry of this felt like a school textbook, I write slice of life and large-scale worlds are very out of my comfort zone!

also yes: furries :3

(FICTIONAL) Passport of Nell Paw, Official citizen of West-Apech, 1982

for legal reasons i should probably say this person isn't real, and the passport is fake, even though it's obviously just a drawing.

I also made a few other posts about Apech if you guys are interested!

NO genai was ever used in any of my projects, nor ever will!!! all of the images are made by me using the sketchbook app, the newspaper and picture are made with blender 5.1!

note that much of this project is incomplete, so as this character!

Nell works as a computer engineer, Which for Apech is a very high paying job, he is caught between a manufacturing job, and a economical one.

He basically cheated the system by literally just building computers.

Offices are the most hostile places you can be, Not of any physical danger, but because of E-claz.

I described this in a different post:

Every office worker gets signed to be on best behavior at all hours, when you gain enough respect and work hard enough, you would be assigned ''E-CLAZ'' which is the most high paying job a normal citizen can physically get.

Who gets E-CLAZ is determined by higher powers, which i will get in to eventually.

Most E-CLAZ lose their rank only after a week, and get replaced by a different worker in the office. So to remain E-CLAZ for as long as possible, you backstab and blame other workers to make them look bad, to stay at that ranking.

This isn't a flaw in the system, This is done on purpose as a trick to make the wolves work harder.

in perspective: half of West-Apech can't afford a full meal every day, nor even medicine.

After only a month of E-CLAZ, you can afford full meals and luxury foods like jam, white crackers or sweetened condensed milk. For an even longer period, Wolves can afford permanent luxuries like a television set, refrigerator or even a car.

---

Nell's passport has these little holes in the top right corner, This paper doubles as a punch card. some borders or controlled areas have a computer system, where it reads the holes, checks a network of mainframes to detect who the wolf is, their status, And let's the wolf in or out.

World building: General / history

I NEED to make some illustrations for some shirts, And have absolutely no idea what i am doing.

I read the rules twice, If i overlooked anything i am sorry, not sure if questions are allowed.

I am a young artist with a very sketchy art style, I also do blender.

I hate the idea of having a minimum wage job, So when a relative gave me the option to design/illustrate some T-shirts and put them for sale at a local art/gallery shop of a freind i just couldn't resist.

But they expect me to make a couple test designs, I don't have a specific time but I shouldn't wait too long.

I am a little stressed.

I can draw almost anything yet not humans and animals, except for my furry designs. I feel like this is a great opportunity to finally use my skills for something like this.

I think of ''what would i buy?'' and i ask everyone that a lot, But i just don't know anyone in my area that has experience in making art of any kind, nor online.

here are some things i have made: maybe i think too simple... eh?

u/ReasonableReason549 — 1 month ago

Hey, Looking for some feedback and comments! :3

I would say this is two tags in one: I am both curious what people think of my art style i have built up over the years, But also just generally want feedback.

I am in the works of a slice of life animation project, Using what i have learned in Blender, 2D animation, Music, Writing and drawing. hopefully i can get the project done at the end of the month, could also be later.

Why i am telling you this, is that the project will be mostly in this style, Using 3D rendered backgrounds and 2D animation, But i want to see if people actually like it, of course it's just a passion project and i can do what i want, But I'm just curious!!

Would love to show some things i wrote for the project, But i can't paste since one: It's all in Dutch, and two: I write on a typewriter so all my writing work is physical.

Anything helps! thanks!! :3

programs i use:

  1. sketchbook app (Free, Apple Ipad)
  2. toonsquid (one time purchase: limited, But doesn't lag much, Apple Ipad)
  3. Blender 5.1 (free and open source for PC!)

Living space of an average Apechian citizen, 1986.

I also made two other posts if you are interested:

One about what the average Apechian diet, one about Apechian television schedules.

No genai was ever used in any of my projects, nor ever will!!! all of the images are made by me using blender 5.1, and the sketchbook app.

In west Apech, Most people live in large scale flat complexes, These places are usually not very well maintained, And have all sorts of issues. For example cheap or hastily built generators and outlets, plumbing issues or black mold.

Fires are very common, So a solution to this problem is a large layer of concrete between each home, But if not built right with much air between the walls; Water damage can be an issue, making it actually more harmful then not.

Need some Ideas for this scene!

I am building a challenge pack in scrap mechanic and wanted to revamp one of the levels for it. This level takes place in a 1970s interior inspired cozy little living room, but i think it maybe looks a bit generic?

I have looked up many reference pictures but I just can't seem to know where to progress.

I really like contrast, so most the challenge takes place in this dull, sad office space. So making this level the complete opposite, beingt as cozy and colourful as possible is what i am trying to achieve!

I don't want to promote anything but if you guys are interested, here is the challenge pack:

Is this good to use?

This isn't for a commission, This isn't for anyone. This is for a personal animation project I really want to make!

I usually animate these cute little cat-characters, and take a more slice of life approach. but for this project i wanted to do something different, And this computer will be a background prop for that scene! the topology isn't necessarily bad, i would say the poly count is the best I have done in a while, yet it still is messy and could be better.

Would love to hear what ya'll think, and any ways to improve! I am still somewhat new to blender, So I'm taking this as a chance to learn from the pros :3.

My collection of old electronics.

My collection is done, I have all the space now for everything, And won't be ''collecting'' anything more. It's kind of hard for me to call it a collection, since by definition i guess it kind of is, But i also cherish and use every single thing seen here. I have two keyboards because one is broken, but is perfect for sound effects or reference for my creative projects.

the typewriter is genuinely my replacement for word processors, and has become my main way of writing things because my computer distracts me a lot.

The old desktop because I enjoy older video games and is an immersive way of playing them.

the Grundig tv is my main tv, and use it to watch my films.

Everything else in the collection we already owned beforehand. I still live with my parents, i am still in school, and it's nice to not feel like i am wasting my time on the internet all of the time.

My stuff isn't arranged like this, this was just to show my collection in one image, I have dedicated spots for everything and nothing is in the way.

however, This is all my exuses, since not everyone has their own preferences, But these are big, heavy, fragile objects that make my life cozier, But i don't generally need all this stuff to survive so I probably am just over-consuming or hoarding like some people probably would say, who i don't blame.

anyway, just wanted to showcase all of this because i was bored, thought i needed to say all that because you never know how people might interpret this without context; any questions and stuff is appreciated!!

I am so sorry for my bad handwriting, I really hope it's readable!

hopefully I can recommend some artists with this post! but also for people to recommend me some!

All images made by me :3

I need music recommendations, I have been listening to the same bands and artists for a month straight and have been getting bored. the problem is that i one: can listen to lot's of different genres, but two: can be very picky with music, and have a hard time bringing myself to listen to new artists i have never seen before.

These are my top music genres if the pictures weren't clear:

  • Rock
  • Alt rock
  • punk (sometimes, only a little)
  • (some) Folk
  • Anything Indie or small scale

There are many artists who i listen to, but it's only like one album or a few songs.

Btw, this is the music i DON'T listen to:

  • Anything heavy metal
  • only some classical
  • most modern pop or big mainstream artists

Important to say that I absolutely love Pink Floyd's Dark side of the moon, and really resonate with the topic and such, but it's the only album i have ever heard of the band!

THANKS FOR READING! :DD

Is this a bad character design visually?

So i like writing slice of life dialogue scenes. I want to bring this scene to life via animation, which I already have some experience in btw. This design needed to match what i was writing:

Someone who is kind, yet a bit snappy and rough. The kind of person who is helpful, and comes up with good advice and doesn't let anyone talk her down, she is honest and says what she actually feels. Yet can be quickly irritated and has bad habits like smoking or thinking she can push or do more then she actually is capable of.

This character visual design is very messy, and It's weird since i usually am very proud of my simple designs (Like the 3rd image), but This one just feels off and I don't know why.

Any ideas, suggestions, feedback maybe?
