According to the latest report from Marco Spinelli the Maldives was technical Dive (not recreational dive)
In the video : the comments on internet are absolutely garbage, people have no idea that this was technical dive with highly trained divers, it was a technical planned dive to a cave 50/60m
At this depth can happen anything, Narcosis, downcurrent, panic, low visibility etc.
Marco Spinelli say in the video that he knows the divers in person and also the tour operator having collaborate with them for years, he say that the divers was serious Professional and prepared for the dive.
Have respect for the families and Stop the bullshit theories on the internet

Hello, looking for sidemount Advice here.
What type of shoulder weight pockets do you use in sidemount, or whats alternatives for weight distribution ?
Type diving: cold water
Tanks: aluminium S80
Wetsuit/semi-dry : 7mm
Required weight : 9 or 10kg... 10kg is ideal.
My current Sidemount configuration has too much weight over my waist, forcing the hip and legs to move down..
Ive moved the waist belt (see picture) has up has possible, i still have space to get the tanks closer to armpits, hopefully will put more weight on upper body.
Option 1
The central weight pocket im gone test 2kg-3kg -3kg + empty, this configuration i think will help to relief even more weight from waist & hips. (theres screw on first pocket that prevents me to use 3kg)
Option 2
get shoulder weights (1kg +1kg ) to counter-balance the weight even more, but looking for weight solution to avoid any hose tangled in the weights
ps: the Xdeep weight pocket dimensions are 9cm X 10cm x 3cm (L x D x W)
The Maldives liveaboard Emperor Explorer was lost following a fire earlier today (9 May), according to its operator Emperor Group.
All guests and crew were evacuated and transferred to the Emperor Serenity, a slightly smaller liveaboard in the fleet, and no injuries had been reported, said the operator.
“Our priority is the safety and well-being of everyone on board, and we are profoundly grateful that all guests and crew are safe and well,” said Emperor Group CEO Alexander Bryant. “We are now focused on supporting our guests and crew.”
Emperor Explorer had been due to go out of service at the end of this month. As reported on Divernet in April, the operator had only recently launched its successor, the Emperor Explorer II, as its flagship and at 44m its largest vessel in the Maldives, intending it to start work this August.
No cause for the fire or details of the evacuation have been released yet. The fire has been reported as occurring near the Fish Factory dive-site near the Maldives’ capital Malé and spreading quickly enough to cause at least some of those on board to escape by jumping over the side of the boat.
Built in 2019, the 42m Explorer carried up to 26 guests and had been running seven-night Best Of Maldives itineraries. The boat usually carried up to 14 crew, with four dive-guides and three dedicated dhoni crew.
An official enquiry into the incident can be expected to follow. Marine losses are usually investigated by the Maldives National Defence Force Coast Guard, the country’s maritime enforcement and rescue authority.
