more stuff from my Grandfather

So cool that something like this still exists! My Grandfather died in 1953 at 70 yrs. old. Two months before I was born. Slowly piecing his life together from items I find... He later was the powerhouse engineer for what locally later became Packaging Corporation. (PCA)

Anyway, I hope you find this interesting.

From a Google Search.

Thiis is a vintage 1904 pocket manual for Local No. 44 of the Marine Engineers' Beneficial Association, printed by A. J. Bailey in Manistee, Michigan, showing that their local rooms were located at 393 River Street with meetings held on Tuesday evenings. [1]

The Marine Engineers' Beneficial Association (MEBA) is the oldest marine labor union in the United States, founded in 1875. [1]

Local No. 44 specifically served the maritime and steamship engineers operating out of the Manistee, Michigan port area on the Great Lakes.

The booklet was bound and published locally by A. J. Bailey, a known printer and binder operating in Manistee during the early 20th century.

What purpose could this been designed for?

This belonged to my grandfather (1883 - 1953) and have no idea of its intended purpose or application. The manufacturer name tag is missing .

The handle and everything looks to be original. I've searched for hours on Google Image search with no matches.

Thank you for looking

A35-5G can't reconnect to my ISP if I leave the house / come back

this seems so simple to correct, you would think!
It started to happen occasionally after a couple "system updates" earlier this year. It connects and stays connected- as long as I stay in the house. When I leave the property and come back home it tells me it's "connected without internet" to my Wifi name. It states that "once the signal is available it will reconnect". So in the meantime i am using my phone data.

When I reboot my phone- it has no problem connecting. My Fire tablet, TV, and laptop never have connection issues.
I have made many calls to my ISP; Spectrum over this. Each time I would follow each of their lost of troubleshoot instructions and in the end nothing we did resolved the issue.

This last call (yesterday) the rep pretty much admitted the only thing it could be is something in the phone. Bottom line- I should maybe start shopping. She hated not being able to correct the problem.
I have never had problems with Spectrum (3 years) The live customer service reps are always quick & easy to connect to on the 1800#. (especially compared to T-Mobile!)

Anyone else have this issue? Any help appreciated! Thank you!

My dad's amplifier (circa 1971)

Slowly going through stuff left from my Dad (1913-2003). He was a good musician and had his own lil 3pc band for Saturday night gigs. Paramont Leader 4 string tenor banjo and electrified acoustic 4 String guitar.

ANYWAY, I have his amplifier still. Its been covered, sitting in a dry basement for many years. To my untrained eye its probably not worth much.

These were a big part of my early education

Growing up in the early 1960's and 70's these sale catalogs taught me what various parts of a car or engine looked like as well as what they were called.

These are only from about 1978. This and the Warshawsky catalogs were great entry points for me.

What causes this?

Always wondered why this is happening at the hold down bracket? The battery posts aren't showing this corrosion . Why here?

Dang! What does this very important part I am missing look like?

So I got this machine FREE! (Dyson DC-33) but it was filthy and hadn't been used in a long time.

Since I enjoy cleaning stuff up, I spent all day working on it. Got it looking great! However, I hadn't noticed one important part was missing. I have no idea what it looks like. Could someone tell me, or show me it? I'll try to find it on eBay i guess.

Thanks so much!

now need an EXTRA subscription to view Newspapers.com

i have been a paid member of Ancestry.com and ALSO Newspapers.com for many years. Just recently they now require me to buy an additional expensive subscription to view clippings!
Not only did they INCREASE the regular membership costs- now they add this additional cost!
What pisses me off too is that Ancestry also OWNS the newspapers website!

Complaining to them is always ignored!!! I have contacted them numerous times for various glitches or problems and they never reply.
Ugh! Just had to complain somewhere
