Played my first Gibson today

2003 Les Paul Standard

Going through my comfy techniques and some Bad Moon Rising rhythm.

Such a beautiful and capable guitar!

2003 Les Paul Standard

My local music store just got this used LP Standard, it’s slightly dinged and scratched from the looks of the photos. Would you pay $2360.97 for this if it was the right guitar for you?

Edit: I went to go try it, it was beautiful! My first try at a Gibson ever. I have to wait a couple more months before I can buy one of my own. 🎸
But now I’m extra excited!

This cycle is a nightmare

I really enjoyed the last cycle, but then they totally broke the game for me. It feels like a chore to play now with the manual aiming and broken modular ship mechanics. I hope they take note and give options for both modular and set ships.

You can’t always get what you want (Sans choir)

First track on the album ”Slow Rollers”, you usually relate this song with the boys choir opening and ending. This one just ends with a normal choir ending. An interesting part of my Stones collection.

I have a big decision to make.

I’ve narrowed down my impending NGD in a few months, down to these three guitars. The 50’s ”baseball bat” LP Standard, The 60’s slim taper neck LP Standard or the 61 Heritage SG Standard.

I’ve been learning on an Epiphone LP JR, which from my pov is a ”baseball bat” neck. I mainly play rhythm and chords for songwriting, and it’s time to invest in my music for real. I don’t really go for heavy metal, but it would be fun if it was an option.

I’m looking for versatility, ergonomics but something that will last a very long time.

The 50’s LP is so damn beautiful, that I want to lick it, but is the heaviest and most expensive. But it also has the type of neck I’m used to, and comes with the hardcase.

The 60’s seems like it would be a bit easier to play. Price is just slightly lower. But a softhell case/gigbag

The SG is the ”safe” financial choice, but I’ve read they can be very versatile yet fragile. Also hardcase.

What do you folks say? You’re the experts that own or have owned these guitars.

Edit: Thank you for all of your input and opinions, I really appreciate it! I will post my decision here when I decide in October.

Epiphone LP JR is a beast

I got this guitar for a weekend’s worth of work along with an SG special and a busted Marshall Valvestate amp. I can’t get over how perfectly simple and awesome it is. It’s not fancy, it’s not blingy, it just works and delivers exactly what a guitar in this class should.

I’m never going to modify it, since the single humbucker is wonderful and delivers the exact sound I love.

Anybody else in love with this particular JR? It has to be one of the best beginner guitars ever made.

Paying off a couple credit cards has made me surprisingly happy.

The kind of happiness younger me had, when I got the lines of credit in the first place. A definite sign of aging. 💳😅

I had no idea what I was getting into…

This game is utterly hilarious and unhinged right out of the gate. I’m not sure I’m doing it right, or how the protagonist’s boss doesn’t just arrest him on the spot for being a ridiculous hobo person.

Regardless, I can’t wait to see how full blown ridiculous I can make this story pan out.
