Dealing with rodents entering the property thru these defunct grates. No egress, sealed off and only collecting garbage from the street. Quoted 4k to seal off with concrete. Any suggestions to block this off in house? Thanks
We’re from the city. My grandfather bought a house in the suburbs that originally came with a lot of trauma as i discovered as I got older. The area was friendly but strange at the same time. One of my first memories in the house was seeing a boy getting hit by an ice cream truck on our corner where our house was located. I vividly remember the sirens, time of day, color of the ice cream truck, etc etc.
This year my grandfather passed and it’s now time to sell the house. As I’m moving things around outside a long time neighbor stops to chat. He’s about 65 years old or so and has lived on this block since he was a child. We start talking about all the crazy things that have gone on in the neighborhood. One thing I brings up is the ice cream truck accident. He looks at me confused. It turns out this accident happened 15 years before we even moved in. It also turns out the person driving the ice cream truck that killed the kid, was the original owner of my grandfathers house. Once again, i swear I was there.
I refer back to my family and ask if they remember the accident. No one recalls ever seeing this. I’m the only one.
Is there a chance that I was the boy that was killed in this accident? And somehow I made it back to where I left off? Almost like a respawn? Or could it be some type of clairvoyance (if i’m using the term correctly)
i’d love to hear your opinion.
After all these years I just want to figure out the age old question. Was it an accident or did he want to go because he didn’t see a way out? How is he feeling on the other side?
all my life i’ve been so confused about what I am and what to identify with. i’m 75% Chilean, 25% Dominican and 25% Puerto Rican. I grew up with my domi and puerto rican father but my chilean mother was not in the picture until i became much older in life (i’m 42). My stepmother was irish so i hold a lot of that identity to myself since i was a child also since i found home and comfort in it. For the most part i claim my domi and puerto rican side. the people that know me love to say though “but your chilean too! don’t forget that!” i honestly do because i hold no relation to that culture and honestly grew to not favor my mother lol. Am i wrong? I even claim irish at times. people make me feel bad about it but what is even the right thing?? help me settle this lifelong identity battle lol
she left pretty suddenly. did she choose to go? what is she feeling
What are my rights as a live in super with a child? Coop is actively seeking to terminate my employment on the basis of wanting to save money and not have a super at all. Or at least hiring a cleaning service so they said. This was explained to me by the managing agent. I have a 1 bedroom apt and my kid goes to school down the street. Single parent.
What happens if i’m terminated? Can I Squat? Any supers with similar experience?
I’m In Queens.
I live half way down the block on 74th past Zayan Halal BBQ on the corner of 37th Avenue. My bedroom smells like a BBQ competition every night starting at 6:30! And with the warmer months approaching, I’m worried that an uptick in foot traffic at the mobile street vendor is going to exacerbate the situation. If they moved a couple of feet over to 37th Avenue where there are practically NO RESIDENCES, it would probably negate the situation entirely. Anyone else being affected by the smoke?
Anyone remember the Hairsmith salon in the 80s where the Roosevelt Ave station is?
