My homemade CNC router
Yesterday I posted my lathe, so I thought I might as well show my custom CNC router. It's placed inside a soundproof enclosure.
I designed and built it from scratch. Sorry for the mess, I haven't connected my blower fan yet.

This is my cheap Chinese metal lathe. The handwheels were very stiff, and it was very laborious to use. I had a spare controller and a few linear motion parts, so I converted it to CNC. The empty hole is for the LCD I have not fitted yet. Also, the original motor burned out, so I replaced it with a BLDC motor, which works very well and can take a beating.
I am a beginner when it comes to lathes, so I most likely don't turn things properly, but it works for occasional, one-off projects.
Any advice on how to improve my lathe or cutting is welcome.
Solar tracking sub-assembly incomplete. However, the kinetic peripheral-manipulator is fully operational and currently simulating human labor
I won't be home until 6pm so I need to find spot somewhere near I live. Does anyone know some good spot?
I just woke up to a terrible burning smell and had to close all my windows because it's unbearable. Is anyone else getting this? Does anyone know if something is on fire nearby?
Spent an hour looking for him. Turns out he was hanging in here with his head under the blanket
I am going to use off shelf beams where the only operation will be cutting to lenght. Is this correct way of dimensioning them?
Apart from adjusting backlash or changing the gear type, what are the ways of reducing noise? I am okay with adjusting or modifying the gears, but changing them to a different type is non-negotiable unless someone can point me to a place where I can buy one-off helical gears in the UK
My laptop started crashing recently and now is completely bricked. I can only access the BIOS and launch the Windows installer from a USB.
I need installation files and drivers, but the download links are dead.
I am trying to reinstall Windows 11 on my laptop, but the installation screen doesn't see my drive, though it is visible in the BIOS.
I found this dandelion-like plant in my local meadow. Could someone identify it? Is it possible to plant it in my garden? I'm located in Hampshire UK
My epilepsy has been under control for the past few years, but recently I started having these weird episodes:
My colleague was showing me something on a PC at work. We were having a normal conversation when suddenly I felt a bit weird and snapped out of it to him saying, "Hey, potty mouth, that's not nice."
I can't remember saying anything, and he hasn't noticed any unusual behavior on my part.
Another time, I was waiting for a bus while scrolling on my phone. Buses are scheduled every 15 minutes; however, I was waiting for almost an hour. I looked around and noticed that the people waiting with me had suddenly disappeared. That's when I realized something was off. It is so strange, as to me, nothing seemed wrong, and time passed normally.
When I think about it, recently time passes really fast for me. Sometimes I feel like a day lasts only 6 hours, I dismissed it as just getting old. What's most unsettling is that everything seems continuous and I don't sense anything weird. It makes me wonder what else I've missed in my life.
I have a ProMicro nRF52840, and in the Arduino IDE, I installed the Adafruit nRF52 package from the board manager, but I can't find my board. Gemini said that I can select Adafruit Feather nRF52840 Express, which will work with my ProMicro. Is that correct?
They look exactly the same and price range is from £25 to £90
