Hey guys, i was the one same person who spoke about being bullied at my job that's part time at a nursing home. Today i got a call from my parents that my eldest brother passed away today.
I don't like how my manager responded or how he said he can't accommodate me about getting my scheduled changed.
Should i just put in my two weeks notice?
I just started a new job working at a nursing home as a server part-time. The first day I get there, some residents and people would make comments like mentioning exercise or getting a trainer and my coworkers would look at me like they were about to laugh. Yesterday, we were on a long break and the dishwasher sits next to me and shows me a Tiktok and asks me "who would win in a fight, rasputia or madea?". I know that was a microaggression about my weight. Just like I was going to catch the Metra to get home last night but decided to catch the bus to the CTA which took over an hour. Once I got on the train, this guy says to me "you don't have any food you don't need do you".
I was already overwhelmed that day because when I was trying to serve, there were so many people in the kitchen that day. My coworkers are also younger than me and when I try to engage them in conversation they act like they're annoyed but will talk to other people. Im still sad thinking about how I'm getting treated at this job but I have no other job prospects.
Also one of the younger girls said to me how she doesn't eat on her lunch break.

One day I'm thinking about moving out of the United States, possibly within the next two years. I have really bad credit and it's kind of hard for me to get approved for apartments. Also have been struggling with consistent income since graduating college in 2021. So I'm wondering do they do credit checks when renting an apartment? Which countries don't do this?

Johnny Pate has been an arranger, composer, producer, and session bassist, but because he's worked largely behind the scenes, his contributions to soul, R&B, and jazz are underappreciated -- he's most widely heard today via sampling by hip-hop producers. Born John William Pate in Chicago Heights on December 5, 1923, he learned to play piano from a church organist boarding with his family, and in 6th grade picked up tuba. Upon graduating from Bloom Township High in 1942, he was drafted and in an Army jazz orchestra he added upright bass to his arsenal and got a taste for arranging.
After his discharge in 1946, he headed to New York, where jazz bassist Oscar Pettiford took him under his wing. Soon Pate returned to Chicago, where he arranged for Red Saunders' house band at Club DeLisa. In 1957, he formed his own jazz group which scored a top 20 R&B hit in 1958, which helped get him session work. He arranged or played on albums by legends such as Stan Getz and Wes Montgomery and gigged with the likes of Sarah Vaughan and Count Basie.
In the early 1960s, Pate was hired by soul producer Carl Davis at Okeh Records, which began his longest professional partnership: from 1963 until 1972, beginning with The Impressions, "Sad, Sad, Girl & Boy" and ending with "Superfly", Pate was Curtis Mayfield's regular arranger. He followed Mayfield to ABC-Paramount for hits such as "Keep on Pushing" and "We're A Winner" and also worked with Betty Everett, B.B. King, Gene Chandler, and Jerry Butler.
Pate moved to New York in the late 1960s, returning to jazz with MGM/Verve, and wrote classy blaxploitation soundtracks for "Brother On The Run", "Bucktown", and "Shaft in Africa". After a mid-70s stint in Los Angeles and jobs with the Bee Gees, Peabo Bryson, and Natalie Cole, Pate settled in Las Vegas in 1983 (but not before putting 4 kids through college - including his playing son Don), now 95 (102 in 2026), this living legend continues to reach new ears through reissues and sampling.
I am a fan of Angie and I feel like she didn't receive enough respect while she was here she still hasn't. Her first three albums, Black Diamond, Mahogany Soul, and Stone Love were all pretty solid albums in my opinion, even the album after Stone Love was good, the art of love and war.
Even her work that she did before she officially solo hasn't received as much attention such as with Vertical Hold and that she wrote for other artists as well. Plus the fact she was one of the early pioneers of hip-hop with The Sequence and didn't get mentioned or even invited to the 50 year anniversary of hip hop celebrations is crazy to me.
I remember when she died and I was literally crying and couldn't believe it, same with D'Angelo as I am fans of both of their works. I bring him up to say I kind of feel like people talked down on or overshadowed her work due to people claiming she "groomed" him which i don't see it that way now and they possibly were mutually attracted to each other. I just wish she got more respect while she was with us.
Hey, I'm really into jazz and wanted to know if there are any jazz clubs on the southside or lounges that host jazz musicians from time to time. I've been to the Green Mill, the Constellation and some others but they're all on the northside. If anybody has any recommendations I'd appreciate it
Ive ordered from Chez Adele a couple times and their burgers are pretty good. They're actually fresh compared to some other places and pretty well seasoned. The fresh cut fries they have are good too. Theyre on the far northwest side so I usually get it delivered but if you like smashburgers, id recommend them.
Compared to a place like Small Cheval which i feel whos burgers are subpar in comparison, they're good to me. Also think small cheval must use frozen burgers cause the last time I had them they were not good.

I think whenever you get on a bus or the L, start taking note of the numbers on the bus or train car as well as the route youre on just in case something happens, you lose something or to file a complaint.

I've also been looking on Facebook marketplace and have seen a couple priced at around $50 to $100. Like i saw a Scott and Garrad but I do have an audio-technica that I've been wanting to get sent to me. Should I just go get a vintage turntable instead?
