3am(pull up) is a perfect pop song

There's a few songs from the 2010s id call perfect pop songs. Endlessly infections, communicative, and just overall entertaining

Into you - Ariana Grande

New Romantics - Taylor Swift

Really dont Care - Demi Lavato

3am(pull up) - Charli XCX

I wish I could include G.U.Y. by lady gaga but that opening with the spoken word really drags it down.

Spinel has the strongest plot armor ever in "Other Friends"

Spinel had no reason to be able to thrash the Crystal Gems in her first fight scene. Spinel had only ever been a jester and had to training of any kind, she then spent 6000 years standing still doing absolutely nothing. If she started crafting her revenge scheme immediately after she got the message in the garden that means in two years, she grasped the concept of humanity and how to kill them (even though the Diamonds still haven't seemed to fully grasp it by the start of the movie) Found/crafted the injector, made it so that it only responded to her horn sound, got an extremely dangerous reset button of a weapon that was likely guarded somehow, and learned how to fight.

Pearl and Garnet were both fighters for 6000 years, either in war or protecting the earth from corrupted gems. and you expect all of that skill have atrophied in the (at maximum) 2 years between spinel getting the message and coming to earth.

Even amethyst who's exact age is unknown (I would say she was active for 20 years. 4 years pre steven, 14 years of stevens youth and the original series, and the 2 years between Change your mind and the movie) she only lost to Jasper, a gem who was made to fight, hated her, and had a vendetta against everyone on earth. Amethyst had infinitely more training than Spinel ever could have gotten.

And somehow, they all got taken out by the most telegraphed attack even with 15 seconds of wind up on Spinel's end.

And maybe Spinel are just extremely powerful gems given their stretching (even though all gems can shape shift), but if that's the case it makes Yellow Diamond look like the dumbest military leader to ever exist. She never thought to try and make the rubberhose gem with seemingly infinite range into a soldier. Come one, if Yellow is as smart as the series wants her to be then she should have trained Spinels to be warriors not entertainers.

Most people dont understand how and why lip syncing is used in live performances

It seems like peoole think all lip syncing is Ashlee Simpson or Milli Vanilli. Where the artist just cant sing and so just mouthes the track the entire performance, but that's not how it is or how most artist use it.

For many live performances is used for parts of songs, usually in spots that would cause vocal strain or when there is intense choreography happening.

Ex: Beyonce on the Cowboy Carter tour prerecorded live vocals when she had a quick 8 count but for something like "16 Carriages" where she is stationary she sings it live.

Ex: On the Erad tour the bridge of "Fearless" was prerecorded while the rest of the song was live.

Lip syncing isnt done out of laziness its done to give a better performance for the audience and to save the voice of the singer. Even Broadway does it, for "Phantom of the Opera" the high note at the end of the title track is often prerecorded so the singer doesn't needlessly damage their voice.

Granted if its someone like Adele where the entire appeal is her voice yes she does sing live and id want her to sing live. But I'm sick of people acting like the alternative to lip syncing would be this gorgeous authentic performance. Let's be real it would be a lot of gasps for air, missed cues, wrong notes, and technical errors. I'd rather have a sustainable good performance than a bad "authentic" one.

Manon is not returning to KATSEYE and thinking otherwise is denial

The people who still say "she could/will come back" are the same people who could see any historical gay relationship and say they were just good friends, because we dont have a signed confession of it.

All the proof points to Manon having to wait out her contract without ever returning.

It's really ironic eternal sunshine deluxe was subtitled: Brighter Days Ahead given how dower Petal feels

This is strictly on a musical basis not talking about anything outside of it.

I like Petal its honestly a front to back listen for me, BUT it is not a positive album. Maybe its not accurate to call it negative but it certainly isnt an optimistic body of work. Just feels so ironic to have Eternal sunshine's reissue be focused in optimism and then have her vent on Petal.

Being cvnty isnt enough

Being hot and serving just isnt enough anymore. It was fun for a while and it can still be a part of an album or an era but it can't be all you do.

It's why I can't ever seem to get into Tate McRae. Yes she is serving it hard-core in every performance but the music itself feels very meh to me. It's like putting elaborate frosting on a flavorless cake. No amount of decoration can fix a subpar foundation.

I also see it happening a lot with Kpop and Katseye. It seems like everything since SIS has just been: slay slay slay, serve serve serve.

Serve, cvnt, slay isnt the ethos for an album. It's the basis for a target pride collection.

To an extent it feels pandering. If were willing go call out Megan Trainer for making an empty song about Dazzling and trying to appeal to gay men (I am one) then we should do the same for other artists.

My No. 1 Anti

I just hate the "I might say something stupid" remix. Nearly tripled the length and its all just breathy wavering vocals.

I try to only mount my steed against one song per artist and for Charli its easily IMSSS ft 1975. Matty Healy will never know peace from me.

The OG version is fine

Giving Each album A different title

I think it would be fun to give each album a title if it couldn't be it's current title. I hope other people will do the same. The goal is to try and maintain the original spirit of the album. And if the album has a title track try to keep a title track. And if it has a title track keep it to the standard track list.

  1. I'd change Debut to be "A Place in this World". As a debut record it makes sense to have a song about finding you place as the central piece of it

  2. Probably Change. I think Breathe could also work but I just feel like it's one of the weaker songs on the album

  3. Enchanted. It was going to be the title at one point. Maybe Mine but I do think Enchanted works too well.

  4. Easily State of Grace. The thesis of red is "Love is a ruthless game unless you play it good and right." / "Moving on from his is impossible when I still see it all in my head in burning red." Since we can't have red as the title track it HAS to be state of grace

  5. If breathe wasn't a song on Fearless I'd posit it as a title. Mirrors, reflections, maybe steal future nostalgia from Dua Lipa since that fits the concept of 1989? Ultimately, I'd go for Clean. I don't think ever album NEEDS a title track but 1989 is a hard one

  6. Karma probably. If were going for a song, I'd say Endgame

  7. I think Miss Americana would be an amazing title for lover. But if we needed a title track probably Daylight, or even just Golden as an album title. Keep the cotton candy skies but change the over font to a golden glitter and use gold as accent through

  8. This is going to sound demented, but it should be HOAX! The album is made up stories... or is it? That constant back and forth debate/misdirect makes it feel like a hoax at points. There's so many levels that calling it Hoax would be such i mind twister. Plus imagine the announcement of an album called Hoax that was being surprise released when she's never done that before.

  9. People would probably say Marjorie and while it is a crucial part of Evermore I don't think it would work as the title of the album as it gives a very specific image to such a broad album. Closure seems like the best choice since so much of the album is about loss, change, and moving on. Though in this instance I would change it to be the final track of the album.

  10. Insomnia... I really have nothing for Midnights

  11. I wish I could use bonus tracks because The Manuscript would be a perfect title track. But I'm limiting myself to the standard tracklist. If I could choose a lyric I'd say "My tortured Heart" From MBOBHFT but it feels lazy since I'm reusing the word tortured from the original title. Something I kept in mind is that so much of the lead up to TTPD was about the bait and switch. We thought it would primarily be about one break up but it was about another, so to keep up that misdirect I settled on "LOML"

  12. If I had to give it a title track, I'd go for Opalite. But I also think Kismet would be a perfect alternate title to showgirl

SWAG II by Justin Beiber should have been titled SWAGER.

It would ve more interted than just calling it SWAG II but still plays on the original album name

Do you ever hear good lines that don't fit in the song they are in?

Sometimes you hear a lyric that's really good but either doesn't fit in the song or is of substantially different quality from the rest of the song.

Ex: "Everybody's talking about heaven like that just can't wait to go." -Heaven by Kane Brown.

I think its a really good line and you could build something around it like how people treat life as a waiting room for paradise but in his case its just part of a song about how much his girlfriend makes him happy. The song itself is fine but the line I pulled seems like its of a higher caliber than the rest of it.

Does anyone have other example they can think of?

The Persona of Charli XCX makes it feel like authenticity is transient

Charli wants to be seen as this underground indie taste maker. (She said so in her music andnin interviews). But she also wants to do great streaming and sales numbers (you dont do 4 prerelease singles unless you want chart sales.)

I've been feeling this for a while where the second something doesn't look good Charli just goes "I'm not serious, I'm mean its whatever, I don't really care." To try and save face/credibility.

And if honesty is just a blink away from being some bit in a performance I have no reason for get investedels like you are one

Comment sections are a rotting sewer and its not because of AI

Every comment section I've been into lately does the same few things. It's people making the same quotes or references over and over again: She was a fair, its morbin time, chat were cooked, RIP (person) you would have loved this. Noone wants to say anything new just iterate in jokes that are way past tired.

It feels like everyone want to make their own, "I love her lack of energy, go girl give us nothing."

Or it'll be everyone trying to be funny. There was a video where a woman said "If you don't love your job, job your love." And rather than looking at what she says and commenting on or talking about how turning anything you like into a money making opportunity can strip of of joy they all just made comments like, "If you don't grate your cheese, cheese your grate." Which might be funny ar first but when that's literally all people are saying its not funny anymore.

Or all the same boring edgy humor about sex or race etc. You show 2 right angles its jokes about WWII, or anything with any person who isnt white is just a vat of acid to my faith in humanity. Everything gets joked about being a sex toy and God forbid anything is ever shaped like a tube. I'd like to see one video where people aren't going Would, Smash, batman couldn't pull me out. It's so over done. Maybe these could have been funny but they sure as he'll aren't now. Dark humor is funny because it messed up and unexpected but when everyone does it it looses that.

Or people will interact with content in a way that is clearly counter to how it was intended. A guy made a skit about how coworkers ask you to go to lunch with them depending on how long you've worked together. But then all the comments are "Just be an adult and pack your lunch" as of this wasn't clearly a joke and isnt meant to represent your exact situation.

Or how any video about what someone eats has comments going "OH, you wat 100 calories of yogurt for breakfast, I have 45 calories of slivered almonds, you should try it." The constant one upping of others is exhausting.

The internet is dead, not from bots but because Noone wants to interact with it in any way other than making little sassy quips.

I don't understand the obsession with Zendaya

It seems like she just popped up out of nowhere. One second she was on KC Undercover and suddenly she's the selling point behind Euphoria and Spiderman.

She's not a horrible actress but I do think she makes the same expression most of the time. But I really don't understand how she rose to fame. As far as I can tell she was the lead in one Disney channel sitcom and the first season of euphoria (let's be real Cassie became the main character in season 2) and has only ever been a supporting or bit part in movie or shows afterwards.

Why I think Taylor "Hates" certain albums.

We know why she doesn't like debut. It was written when she was really young and so she looks back on it as some of her weakest work, which is understandable given that most people don't look back on their earlier work fondly.

But for Speak Now and Evermore I think is has less to do with the inherent content of the album and more the success of the albums around them. Speak Now came right after Fearless which won AOTY and was generally loved, and was then preceded by RED which was an act of catharsis for Taylor, contains what she believes to be her best work, got her a No.1 hit, and has been lauded with praise both at the time and in hindsight.

Evermore is pretty obvious Both Folklore and Midnights won AOTY so when evermore has to awkwardly sit in the middle of them it just lesser in comparison.

I don't think she truly hates anything (aside from maybe debut and parts of reputations) but it's so much easier to love something when it is well regarded and has brought you success in the past.

Swifties are NOT the worst fandom

I fully admit im one of them and we are just awful but ill at least defend we aren't the worse. Definitely top five but not number one. There are a few that have us beat:

  1. One direction fans: they hacked hotel security to spy on the members

  2. Rick and Morty fans: they harassed innocent restaurant workers. (Swifites have been horrible to people but as far as I know they've never done it in person like that)

  3. South Park fans: Ive never seen a fandom so incapable to letting their series be critiques. It seems like if you say anything about the show you just get told (you just dont agree with it politically and are offended) and no I can just think its unfunny. Yes I think it's effectively cocomelon for libertarians but I can also find the jokes to be bland outside of that.

  4. Digital circus: they literally made the original creator lose interest and want to separate themself from the work because of how bad the Fandom was.

Concerned with the "Ironic" direction Charli had been leaning.

It feels like everything charli has been doing for a while has been covered in a veneer of irony and disinterest. I think it really started to notice it in "The Moment" where the film wants to be about BRAT if it was a huge success but doing so acts like it wasn't a big well marketed album. Its like charli needed to create The Moment so she could show what she would do as a hypothetical sell out. But its done as an act to show how real she really is.

And the majority of the music shes released lately has this feeling if Blaise. Like the second she expresses something she'll immediately go "but I mean its like whatever. I don't really care." As if showing interest will destroy her credibility.

As a brief aside im not talking about the Wuthering Heights soundtrack. To me bringing it into the discussion wokd be like talking about "Cheek to Cheek" when discussing lady Gaga.

And there's been an undercurrent on the latest singles of going "uh, fame sucks, im hot, im the engineau" and I just do not care about songs complaining about the struggles of fame.

I want what she does next to be good, but she seems disinterested and will call it ironic if anyone calls her out on it.

Some songs dont have a bridge, they have an outro or an extended chorus

This isnt about the quality of the songs mentioned just how I feel the music had been misclassified.

For it to be a bridge his has to do 2 things.

  1. Deviate from the structure or style of the rest of the song.

  2. Have something come after it.

Ive seen a lot of outros be called bridges. Things like Midnight Rain and Fresh out the slammer don't have bridges, that just an outro to end the song. I'm not talking about something like Cruel Summer or Gorgeous where the bridge comes back to double as an outro I mean songs where a part appears only once at the end. For it to be a bridge there must be something after it.

And some songs dont have a bridge just an extended chorus, the biggest example is YOYOK. Great song but that is NOT a bridge. Its an extended final chorus. It follows the structure and melody of the chorus, just elongates it to be about double the length.

What do you think is Taylors least favorite song from each album?

Which songs does she hate? I'm basing my guesses mostly around which songs weren't on any tour setlists and how often they were played as surprise songs. I'll mostly be excluding vault songs, but its not a rule. They just inherently had less of a chance to get played.

  1. A perfectly Good Heart (only got played ones on the eras tour)

  2. Bye Bye baby (never got played)

  3. Superman (only got played once)

  4. Girl at home (she DGAF about this song)

  5. Wonderland (not being on the 1989 tour setlist really hurt it)

  6. So it goes (not a standard song on the rep tour, but was sometimes randomly an alternate song. And only got played once on the eras tour)

  7. ME! (I think she loved it at the time, but the backlash really got to her)

  8. Epiphany (hardest one to place. My best guess)

  9. Closure (got played once in a mash up in Zurick and will never be played again)

  10. Sweet Nothings (Got played once in a mashup)

  11. Thank you Aimee (a lot of TTPD songs only got played once, but I focused on the ones that weren't ever played in full)

  12. Actually Romantic (realistically you could pick any of the 4 showgirl songs that didn't get acoustic covers)

Edit: Sweet Nothings was played twice.

Commenting on Ariana Grande's body is a waste of time.

This isn't about how she looks and I dont want this to become that. But I just thibk it's so pointless to comment on all these fan videos from concerts and such going "she looks so brittle" or "shes about to die". Like yes we all see how she looks. I guarantee those comments won't be seen by her on videos she uploads and they certainly won't be seen by her in a fan cam from the tour.

At this point it feels like the equivalent of Lois saying "9/11 is bad" yes were aware of that fact, we know it, voicing it in a comment section isn't doing anything.

And it isn't helping anyone else with eating disorders. If you have an ED seeing someone say a celebrity is too skinny really won't be the thing to change their mind. If they were posting resources to get help that would be one thing, but all ive seen is people saying she looks gaunt which we are all fully aware of.
