Does breastfeeding get easier when they get older?

I am EBF my 11 week old. She’s a bit on the smaller side in the 30-40 percentile range. I breastfed in public for the first time over the weekend and it was a STRUGGLE. I didn’t have a pillow and I thought the nursing cover was awkward. It was so hard to position her correctly and hold her in position. I felt bad at it? Like I was just so uncoordinated and she was getting so frustrated with me. I don’t have excessively large boobs, but I do have 36Ds and feel like I usually have to hold my breast while she’s latched.

Is it easier from a purely logistical perspective to breastfeed once the baby is larger? Like because they can hold themselves up better or because it’s easier to bring them to boob? Or is that a pipe dream? I’m nervous about lasting if I can’t figure out how to breastfeed well when I leave the house.

How long do you let your newborn cry/fuss in bassinet/crib?

For context, I’m not trying to let her cry it out, but trying to figure out how quickly I should go to comfort or see if she will fall back asleep.

I’m in the habit of picking her up at the very first cry, but my husband will give it a minute or two and sometimes she will settle down real quick and fall asleep. It doesn’t seem to bother her but it bothers me haha. I’m trying to find a happy medium or see what others do.

Does this look like CMPA?

That little bit was firm. When I rubbed it into the diaper it didn’t break up? I have a message out to our pediatrician and I’m waiting to hear back.

Pumping in public

How do you get over the embarrassment of pumping in public? I know I shouldn’t be embarrassed to begin with, but I am for some reason! I have a Eufy wearable, but I swear it’s just so loud! It’s like “hey look at me I’m being milked!”

FWIW, I also feel awkward nursing in public. I’m not sure how to get past it? Tips?

Diaper Bag/Weather Tips

Hi!

We are taking our LO to an MLB game in a week. She will be 10.5 weeks old. Yes I know we are crazy! But, the tickets were free in an outdoor suite type setting. So, we won’t be in the general public with the super crowded seating. Granted, there will still be a LOT of people where we are, but we know a good majority of them. We are also super prepared to leave if needed and have ear protection for her.

However, I’m trying to figure out what to pack in her diaper bag and looking for tips for clothing. Right now, the high is 74 with a low of 60. It’s an evening game so it’ll be dark about an hour into the game. We currently have a long sleeve onesie and pants planned (with booties). I plan on babywearing a majority of the game. We have a lot of friends and family who will be there and prob want to hold her at some point too. (I am okay with this - people we trust). We also have fleece pants and a fleece hoodie for her if needed. We also have a beanie for her. This is my first baby. Is that overkill? Will she be too warm in the carrier? What else should we bring (besides a change of clothes)?

I nurse, but she also is used to pumped bottles. I haven’t decided if I’ll nurse or give her a bottle (I’m still super uncomfortable nursing in public -I know I shouldn’t be- but also the pump is loud???), so I plan on bringing our Ceres chill with milk and also hands free pump. I want to fit everything in our diaper bag. Any MUSTS you think I should bring other than a blanket perhaps?

Has anyone done a long day out with their baby this young? Any tips?

My baby woke up with some eye crustiness/goopiness.

I’m going to message the pediatrician, but I’m 90% sure it’s just a clogged tear duct. The white of the eye is not red.

However, the skin around her eye is a bit red/pink. For anyone who has had a baby with a clogged duct, did you experience any skin redness?

My girl is 8 weeks old and she’s already doing a minimum of 12 min feeds with a max of around 16 minutes. Total. Sometimes she won’t even take the second breast unless I REALLY try to encourage it and even then it’ll only be for about 2 minutes.

Curious what your babies are doing !
